I wish they had kept the 3.8L V6 and added a turbo. I know lots of guys that did this and ran 11 and 12 second 1/4 mile times on daily drivers. My old Grand Prix had that setup and it would also run low 12s (on snow tires).
Should have made it with a V-6 Turbo... Buick, please bring back the Grand National!!!! Who cares if it kicks the tail out of your flagship princess sportscar the Corvette!!!
Everyone should look him up. He starred in a youtube show called Lonelygirl15, and he also has had big parts in Poor Paul, Unscripted Hollywood Dream Role, Trauma Team (all of these are internet shows) and he was also on CSI!
Obviously, I'm kinda a fangirl of his, and I think everyone should join me, haha!
@jkakdean I'm with you. I beg to differ as well. I own one. Traded a 3 series for it that was heavier and had an I-6 that made a meager 184 HP...and it wasn't slow, but it also wasn't a rockstar. Until you've driven the Regal Turbo, and compared it to its competitors, I think a person's judgements should be reserved.
Hey folks went to the GM mainstreet driveathon, I too had preconceived notions about the Regal. Being a past Regal owner, and a current Caddy STS owner, I can say the Regal Was a hoot to drive...they also provided an Acura TSX, Lexus es350 to drive also...and yes the Regal drove better than the Lexus and drove almost as well as the Acura TSX...so all you nay sayers...drive it before you dis it....besides I would be using it to commute to work.
@BuffmanLT1 I'm not sure I follow, but the point I was making is that if it's ok for BMW to produce an I-6 with 184 HP that people praise up one side and down the other, I can't see why it's not commendable of Buick to put out an I-4 turbo that runs faster than the BMW. Even the non turbo Regal runs faster than the BMW because it's lighter. I've had one, now I have the other. The BMW wasn't slow, just average, my Regal at least "feels" faster, so I commend Buick for making a little progress.
@socalguy97 Ohh I agree with you. I'm just saying that they want to market this car as a performance sedan, but i guess in my opionion running 16 secs in the 1/4 mile is not anything remotely performance. But not bad for a 3800 lb car.
0:10 the car is actually on idle. Look at the tachometer. However despite the fact that the car is at 1k rpm it depicts the car as moving.
You could say the car was in neutral but why would you put it in neutral in an automatic car?

Only true Turbo Buick there was and ever will be was the Grand National/T-Type. I'd still buy this tho.

Turbo+ Buick = SLOW.....
BuffmanLT1 1 year ago
@BuffmanLT1 No, not really. It's above average. I own one. It's faster than the 3 series I traded in which only had a 2.5 I-6 that made only 184 HP.
socalguy97 10 months ago
@socalguy97 You're still looking at a high 15 second car as the standard turbo car sits.
