i would put a allison trans up against n e stock tranny an it will knock the socks off n e other trans..an if the tie rods r the only thing u could find wrong with a GM vehicle ur a idiot. i could go on for days on all the junk parts on fords an dodges. dodge s have junk trans from facotry an fords have a laundry list of shit wrong with them. injectors egr valves junk turbo s.
@mrhoyt100 I'm sorry but mostly all stock, including allisons, transmissions are pretty much junk. They're mostly made to handle another 60hp but after that they're garbage.
@sparepartsracin Lol thats true all dodge tranny's are complete piles, i know it's unrelated but my 1500 only has 60,000 miles on it and it slips all the time. But how long have you been running your setup, my buddy had an 02 with a turbo back exhaust, AFE intake, and PPE tuner. Lasted for about 8 months.
@jimihendrixtribute Yes, all my vehicles are investments to me, so i try and keep them maintained and clean. It is used, but it was a one owner and he was elderly. Sorry for the late reply too.
@ShamusOGrady2 are you kidding me? Dodge had the nv4500 and the nv5600 both bullet proof awesome transmissions that with a good clutch could handle any power you put down. Dodge has the best trannys and they still do.
@moparenthuz Like i've been telling everyone, i have to beg to differ. It's on a different level, but my daytona's slips all the time. But, for a fair comparison, my uncle bought an 08 2500 new when the 6.7 just replaced the 5.9, and it's had mostly trans problems. Engine on the other hand runs great!
WOW how amazing! I was almost completely sure that during this four wheel drive take off the Duradud would creap to the edge of the road soon after take off, reason why, underengineered gm peace o shit and there tiny ass tie rods.
"anything diesel is a beast. i dont care if it is a beat up f-350 or a mercedes sedan, they all rock!" LOL. Obviously never driven a non-turbo f350. I've got one as a work truck and it doesn't even have enough power to take off on a hill with 6,000 lbs in the back... we had to pull it up the hill with our Silverado 454 vortec
I bet you don't even own a truck. Why can't you just accept the fact that each diesel does everything different. The Dodge has the Cummins going for it with a shit trans and horrid interior and poor ride. The Ford has a nice interior sharp looking truck with a garbage motor (the 6.0 and 6.4) and the Duramax has a weaker front end with a decent motor and AMAZING trans and top notch ride quality.
@JusNov16 Gm just redid everything on the frame on the new chevy hd its top notch now can beat fords and dodges solid axle with there ifs now! and dodge has the nicest interior with the new trucks they have been awarded for it look it up!
@JusNov16 Why does everyone say the allison is "amazing"? They are ok, but still fail just as often as any other newer trans. They can;t handle a chipped duramax very well, agressive driving after a long period of light driving can damage them, and they have the same mileage rebuilds os any other trans. I don;t understand anyway though, i'm a manual guy!!!!
@caniwitech a built allison is very impressive and the fact that you can tune it makes it much drivable but a stock allison is bettter than the rest but it will start to slip eventually with extra power.
@03dmaxkolb ya. i got dsp5 switch. 4in turbo back exhaust. intake. and i pretty well fucked the tranny up within the first day of gettin my tunes! haha. wat kind of trans kit did u go with. its my next investment
@03dmaxkolb sun coast doesnt make the stg 4 or 5 anymore, they replaced it with the g max5 kit for the 5 speeds an the g-max6 kit for the 6 speeds,an I have put a few in an they are really good kits,The precision is a really good converter I would recomend at least a 2000rpm stall even for a stock turbo
@03dmaxkolb I think it is a good kit I used there STG 4 kit in the Allison I am putting in my 600+hp Cummins, the swap is not done yet but should be done any day,PPE uses the Percison housing but builds the rest of the converter inhouse but I think they can also get you a percision converter,I would also recomend getting there deep oil pan an trany cooler,I am a dealer for them an can get you everything you need,Just let me know if I can help you in any way
@KB3MMX really? the tractor pulls alredy proved this. plus, ive seen duralaxes break driveshafts, blow trans, crack a cam, and fry the rings is 3 cylinders, in a pull. but seen only 1 powerstroke break a driveshaft, and cummins ive seen havent has a problem. but i will admit its pretty quick on the streets, but ive seen a cummins go faster.
@mxz440skidoo BS. The Duramax is the only one that is consistently beating the Cummins trucks. The only powerstroke that has a chance is the 6.4TT The Duramax won the diesel power challenge for the 3rd or was it 4th year in a row this year? The duramax came out on too in all classes again recently in the 8 lug diesel shootout. You must own a Cummins? I used to be a Cummins die hard but they are old news now.
I have seen Cummins go faster as well, but that one through a cam shaft out both sides of the block. It was funny watching the guy when he got out of the truck..."duh what just happened" Through shaft pieces all over the track.
@JusNov16 Nope ... a common rail "06 with ATS twins ... belongs to GETSOME PERFORMANCE. Happened in Wichita, Ks. Threw nitros at it at the 330' mark and broke the camshaft at the 1/8 mile mark and slung camshaft down the rest of the track. So the moral of the story, know how much juice you are spraying before you hit the button ... and DO NOT over-spray a compounded turbo on a stock bottom Cummins.
@stanleytherat yep...both sides of the block ... lock through to the other side through the inner fender well on the front .... saw straight through to the other side ... pulled the truck onto the trailer with my duramax. A spectator brought over two handfuls of camshaft that he picked up by his camper when the truck went by.
@dordtrecht I'm calling bullshit on that one! The cam is on the driver side, there is no way it could blow out the block on the other side (as you stated in an other post) and nitrous has nothing to do with the cam. Some high horse common rails have been known to walk the cam backwards, and cause an oil leak, but nevr break and throw it out. YOu are either full of it or completely wrong on what actually failed.
@mxz440skidoo Just opened October 2010 Diesel Power, looks like the DURAMAX trucks cleaned the clocks of all the competitors, lol, they won EVERY class in the showdown!!
2.6, 2.8, Work stock, Open and Dyno competition. Sorry about your luck Cummins guys.... LMAO !
even if i agree 110% with you, and even if im not american id have to say that euro cars are extremely good....they have aweosme diesels....and we mix them with us trucks my god it looks good! like the grand cherokee diesel...im from Quebec(canada) all the cars i had and curently have are us cars....a 92 f150, 94 roadmaster and my current 04 pt cruiser gt (i know its mad ein maxeco but thats in north america lol) i'll always buy american! ok i like duramax but i only said shit about it because u guys r talin shit about powerstroke but i like them both better than cummins even those cummins is a good engine
what statistics???name one ford that culd even keep up with the Max'd Out truck, or Casper?both consistently in the low 10s and 9s on fuel only???both Duramaxs buddy
@fsbulldogz it was a ford 7.3 idi (a non turbo diesel, mechanical, pre powerstroke) that was the first sub 10 second diesel truck. What those duramaxs are doing now this idi FORD was doing almost 20 years ago.
if it will smoke a duramax then y is it that every powerchoke that i race ends up loosing. they suck plain and simple. maybe they will smoke, buts thats all they can do
i personally think that you are a fag. does your name mean you 69'd with a guy named frank. i highly doubt that ur powerstroke will take my duramax, yea i do race 1/4 mile i also do 1/2 and mile races and iv taken powerchokes in a mile. plus i pull more than drag, pulling is a better sport anyways it shows the real meaning of a truck, being able to put your power on the track and pull a dead weigh object.
