it's not really a weird scale, it's a Blues Variation 2 scale 1,b3,3,4,b5,5,b7,7...thought it might have been a be-bop scale until I checked for anyone who is interested...like the video though
"It's a very delicate thing, getting your fingers to work together at the same time"
Amen. I've found the best way to improve that is to get the metronome out, conquer the drill at slow enough speed that makes sense, and then start jacking up the count. Especially if you can record it all. It's a great way to chart your 'speed' progress, as you can tell at what count you couldn't do it and where yer at now.
I love SRV, but I don't wanna sound like him, but I love these lessons! :-)
My guitar teacher told me about a guy whos name i cant remember that attached three picks to a power drill so i searched guitar picking drill.... Not what i wantedd
@bishopclark98 That's odd, because I was looking for people who wanted to learn to play, and instead got someone looking for a drill with picks on it. Not what I wanted. So I guess we're even.
@gr8bluesgtr The guitarist who did and still does that is called Paul Gilbert, just in case anyone wanted to know :L Brilliant video's :) I'm just getting into all the bluesy stuff, like Handrix, SRV and Joe Bonamassa
SRV slides into a lot of those notes, many of the one fret moment are slides.
It's so fast it really don't matter but since you said you slowed it down, you could hear the slides.
I use riff master pro to slow things downs have tried a few of the free one.
most will give you a trail version.
I think amplitude even does it and I also have a tascam piece that will slow a cd down and loop and it is cool too sure beats the old tape deck and the record players.
There is a Sweetwater ad that appears on the side of your video. Very annoying. Cant really pay attn. to you with that stupid ad there and you can't get rid of it.
@bobblunn I read somewhere that Anthony holds the pick that way to assist in quick sweeping like Stevie did. He also uses Tortex picks and uses a razor blade to score the pick to create grip. I using my pick this way after reading this and have been doing it for a couple of years. I find it really comfortable but you need a really stiff pick...Tortex blue or purple (1mm 1.2 mm)
Hey do you have any advice for bad tendonitis, ive had it for nearly a month now and it pains me to watch your videos cause i cant hold a guitar long enough to learn these riffs
@hitopachy I certainly do! I've had it for over a year and have not been able to hold a guitar long enough to learn anything for that time! Good luck!
Fantastic video, man. You've really got the Stevie style nailed. Your string raking absolutely fascinates me. It baffles me how someone can rake strings like that without making any sloppy errors, or sounding crap. You're awesome, man, keep it up.
Ok Im a Fan,,I love the song,,I got this one down pretty good, I jam on all the time,,you got it down pretty good dude,,,very good lesson,I like your spin on it,,,very good ,I learned it from some tab I got out of a mag,its pretty cool,,its the kind of stuff you have to do every day or you forget it ,LOL,,,happy Friday man

Is the MAC a better compute rather than a PC for general use and music? How about the basic little Garage Band program?

I find that practicing drills that require synchronization, go very slow with a metronome. works best for me.

I'm curious as to why you were holding the pick that way?

@bobblunn it's SRV's way.
