I live in Haifa, my dad talked about when he saw this on the news as a teenager. I saw the movie when I was 9 with my parents and couldn't really understand it. I watch it now after reading a book about the same event. All I can say is this movie is amazing, very accurate too.

1948, the Arab-Israeli war, forces of the Arab League were trained and armed by the British. Granted, most were poorly trained and poorly equipped because the British feared they would side with the Nazis during WWII (Jordan being the exception--they had better weapons and training from the British than either the Israelis or the other Arab League nations). So no, Britain has rarely ever supported Israel. The only reason they somewhat side with Israel is due to US pressure.

The 1948 proposal gave the Jewish Israelis a LOT less land than they have now, and it still gave the Palestinians a substantial amount of land with which to govern their peoples and remain strong in the Middle East. It was actually a pretty reasonable compromise seeing as Jewish/Arab tensions were flaring and both sides would have a country to call home. The Jews agreed to this proposal but the Palestinians and surrounding Arab nations unanimously opposed this... (cont.)

I also didn't think you'd be able to spin the events of 1948 to make Israel look like the aggressors even though they didn't start the war and actually agreed to peace, but you somehow managed to do it. Not true at all, only 75% of the Israeli population (and citizens) are Jewish. 21% being arabs and the rest of 4% other minorities. Zionism is based upon the thought of the return to the Jewish homeland due to mainly persecution, but it doesn't exclude other people living in minority in the Jewish state.
And again a big NO, you don't need to be of Jewish heritage to be a Jew. You can convert, as I did.

Yes, I know of the existence of a few Jewish cults/sects that does not recognize converts, ironically those groups are often converts themselves originally. All Jewish communities that follows Jewish law (Halakha) recognizes converts.
