  • Jim Reed passed away recently. He had been with CBC as well.

  • Any chance of having the Live It Up show intro and outro? Thanks for posting this I loved the Fool's Overture theme....fitting.

  • @joadhenry What are they playing now during the intro and end credits run?

  • I remember this program, when CTV did real news and current affairs, not that bullshit W5 they have now

  • I miss the Supertramp theme.

  • me 2

  • That's Earl Mann doing the voice-over.

I do remember his voice on Nick GAS when he did the "Heroes of the Game" segment during commercial breaks.

I do believe I also remember him from one of those NFL video games I had for the PSOne.

  • And of course he did the Hamburger Helper commercials not too long ago. He was also the voice of CHCH throughout the 90s.

  • Earl was also the announcer in the early years of A-Channel in Alberta back in the late 1990's.

He also has done NFL Films narrations in the past as well.

  • In my head I can hear that same voice saying... "Pulse at 11:30.. on CFCF-12"

  • It wasn't long after this that CTV axed Harvey, Helen, and Canada AM's Wally Macht. W5 was left with Bill Cunningham and Jim Reed, joined by Sylvia Sweeney. A couple of years later, Eric Malling was lured away from The Fifth Estate and he became the host, with the same batch of correspondents at first.

  • Why did they get rid of Wally? I just remember waking up one morning and some other guy was doing weather and sports. I need closure.

  • Cost-cutting.

  • I still can't stand Dan Matheson.

  • Ditto.
