  • i saw slim on stage in harmony

  • I saw him in Porland Maine, at a festival in the world traditions tent, with Kathy. It was Aug 11, 1989. I've ALWAYS LOVED his songs & yodeling. But I was SO SHOCKED when I heard him. He gave me goosebumps!!! I was so estatic!! I went back to the tent to get his songbook & got his sig TWICE. I even had Kathy take a pic of him & I together which I will always CHERISH!

Thank you for standing up to your Dad, he still deserves that, even if he isn't with us anymore!!!

  • i dont know much about this great man but he sure knew his yodells.

  • This guy was the man.

  • i love the sound of yodeling.

  • I love this song :)

  • I don't enjoy yodelling but I suppose this is a good song.

  • Good fun stuff. Makes you bob your toes.

  • I'd heard yodelling as a child. But now at 37yo I've only just begun really seeking it out and learning about it. Top post, I can only imagine how his voice sounds echoing Dow the canyon. Must have been wonderful. I wonder if such a sound may be heard anywhere in the world these days.

  • Everyone in my family loved to hear Slim's music. His yodeling was the best. Thanks for sharing.

  • I Never got the chanch to meet Slim Clark but I am a fan, he was GREAT..and Maine should be so proud of him.

I am from New Brunswick,Canada and we had, Wilf Carter who I know was a friend of Slim's. and went by the name of Montanna Slim in the States. He passed away in1996.

Yodeling is such an art and a dying one,I am sorry to hear Slim Passed away in 2000.

To His family ,Keep his music alive and I will keep wilf's.

  • Slim was a great cowboy singer,he is still the no.1 yodeler. is there any video's of him on stage singing?

  • @WarnerMullen ...He was the greatest.....I once had a letter he wrote to me and an autographed picture.....two of my greatest treasures....lost in a fire years ago....I still have his music and the memories, though....

  • Dick Curless told me that Yodelin' Slim was in the Country Hall of Fame as the "worlds fastest yodeler;" quite an accomplishment for a good old Maine boy.

  • Many thanks for posting this......never heard yodeling by Slim Clark before...a great singer, his memory should live on..keep on a yodeling.

  • Very great singer. It's a pleasure to listen this old song who "smell" this strong country, the USA.

    Excuse for my english.

  • brilliant...thanks :)

  • A great American pastime, the yodel and Slim had one of the best. Let the children talk silly, this is eternal music for a great country. Thanks Slim!

  • My dad yodeled too, brings back such wonderful memories

  • I only recently learned about Yodeling Slim Clark when I got a CD with cowboy yodeling songs on it. He is amazing!

  • thats fantastic

  • Slim had his own local TV show every Saturday on Channel 5 in Bangor back in the 50's. I never missed it. What a great performer.

  • Slim was a talent you won't hear again ... we still have Kenny Roberts here in town ... and you will hear him say how much he learned from Slim. These pioneers of their music genre paved the way for all the country talents of today ... but Slim and Kenny did not have the media machine of today ... their sheer talent itself spread the word. It's nice that artists like Jewel keep this art form alive.

  • Excellent.

  • When I was a kid in Keene, N.H., most of the children in my school used to listen to Yodelin' Slim every week, when he sang and joked with Ozzie Wade on WKNE. I had a photo of him on my wall; I think I bought it for a quarter. Wish I still had it. This song shows what a master he was and makes me proud of my 8-year-old taste. I listen to it today with a tear in my eye and a smile on my lips. In later years, I often thought of trying to find him in Maine, but I never did. I miss the guy.

  • Now that's talent. You won't find great yodeling like that coming out of NashTrashville. What a unique yodel. Reminds me a little of Montana Slim. RIP Slim Clark. One of great talents of country music.

  • Great Please do delete this

  • We used to have his record or album...Mom loved loveling...thanks for this!

  • I happen to be one of the few people who met Slim in person, and got his autografh and got to hear Him perform live. I'am proud to have Him as a fellow Mainer.

  • Slim was a true son of the great state of Maine, RIP Slim, your music lives on. Thanks.

  • His music is timeless for sure! I can admit that I didn't know many of his songs until recently when an old time friend of Slim, Dick Bartlett, introduced me to more of his songs. I thoroughly enjoyed them, especially the "Teaching you to Yodel" song!

  • i only knew him from my dad's tapes. I never even knew his name until i stumbled onto this. thank you for the post, please post his other stuff. and thank you for the background stuff.

  • my dad recorded this stuff on reel to reel tape in the 1960s, there is about eight other pieces on the tape of this guy. i need to get the tape and share it, it is truely amazing.

  • so good

  • Slim was one of the all-time greats in American country yodeling! I used to listen to him on the radio when I was a child. It's a pleasure to hear him again. Thank you for posting.

  • Slim was one of the all time great yodellers. He was also a very dear friend we swaped talk tapes for many years,he would talk about yodelling his life painting etc I miss my old friend. P>uk.

  • I was not old enough to know Slim well, but my aunt and uncle ran a small tape and CD business that traveled to festivals around New England. I saw Slim perform many times and as much as I disliked yodeling as a kid, I would always listen to him..

I was always drawing, and he knew my love for art. Shortly before he passed, he gave me a litho of a moose, signed by him to me. He told me never to stop drawing. I cherish his picture and kind words to this day.

I would love to see more videos!

  • Slim was my dad...he passed away in 2000 and I miss him ...you are of course allowed to make idiot remarks but the fact is that he touched many lives with his music and probably all u three will be remembered for are your idiot comments..

  • ya wolf. he touched people's lives in more then one way . He used to tell me that

people thought that he didn't do anything

other than set on the porch and sing

but there was a lot more to him then that.

  • My condolences. I never knew any yodellers, in person. It's quite a quandry being 14, and not knowing much of yodelling. I try to learn the history, and it's so sad that not many people yodel anymore. From what I heard, your father was a great man. May he rest in peace,

    and your heart also.

  • Thanks for the kind words..My sister Jewel yodels and peforms..She is on a video here on you tube with me doing a song at our yearly benifit for dad's scholarship..It is under Misty Mountaineers..W.C.
