With Benigno talking about how he wants Ryan Church and David Wright over Carlos Beltran in the big spot, it's ironic that on the final game, Beltran hit a game-tying 2-run home run and Church came up to bat with two outs in the ninth as the tying run and didn't come through and Wright went 0 for 4 in the game (not to mention his strikout with Murphy(the winning run) on 3rd base the Wednesday before).

I have to disagree with the world about the mets choking this past year. their closer gets hurt at the beginning of sept. Their left fielder doesn't play a game in 08. you have an old delgado who can't play a good full season anymore. no bullpen! no it wasn't a choke job, it was Omar Minaya not recognizing the weaknesses of this team and relying too much on old players. plus the phillies had a blessed season. 0 blown saves? the mets had 6 before the all star break!
