Reall great guys! Thank you so much for playing this foundation of rock music, this contribution to the music in general. Thank you both, Led Zep & BC. Awesome, you performed a great, respectful and careful version of what is undoubtedly a milestone in Rock Music. Jaiwi
@purphanz "It was probably more fun for the other people. I didn't really have that much fun doing it. I mean it was all right and Jimmy's a phenomenal guitarist, but to me it was just a job. I'm not a big fan of Robert Plant's lyrics or his singing, so that part of it was a little boring for me."
@purphanz Chris has said that he wasn't trying to recreate Robert Plant's sound. He wanted to sing it his own way cuz he wasn't crazy about the way Plant sang. IMHO, Chris puts Plant to shame.
@collinschwartzesq He has to work in his own range. I seriously doubt he did it differently because he did not like Plant's way. You have to do what you can with what you have. Plant and Chris are an apple and an orange. His voice is different but he seems to hit the notes no problem.
@mellifluousnebula Don't take my word for it. Read it yourself. Straight from the horse's mouth. The Chris Robinson interview on nyrock dot com. It's the first entry that comes up when you do a google search for "Chris Robinson Robert Plant Style"
@collinschwartzesq I don't see it anywhere and find it tough to believe because melodically, it does not seem different. He did not go for a lower note alternative. Plant versus Robinson is tough to choose. Plant has a more melodic expressive smooth voice whereas Robinson has a more gritty ballsy sound. I will short circuit if I keep thinking of it. So apple and orange is my final answer also depends what songs they are doing.
This is a fantastic song ,always thought it opened up PG and set the scene.Chris and his fellow Crowes really pull it off as Zeppelin is so hard to cover.Jimmy just goes where he wants, people accuse him of being sloppy but he is just really loose and in control, they are actually seriously tight considering this was just a project in 99.Genuinely thought Chris would go out with Zeppelin last year as Percy stated he wasnt up for it.LATG is one of the best live albums in the last 20 years.Rn'FR
