It is analogous to Eric Clapton having more fame than Allan Holdsworth. But it's all rather simple and predictable when you look at mass appeal markets. Yes, they really are that insipid and Howard Beale was right after all. If RSM was to have become a musical sensation, his writing would have had to have made a drastic change years ago. Some did that very thing (ex: Genesis with "Follow You, Follow Me.") at a very high artistic price. It apparently was a price that RSM was unable to accept.

Well-written and catchy piece. IMHO under the right mixing and commercial market circumstances, this tune would have and should have been a hit during the late Sixties or early Seventies. The market does not always match up to the talent, unfortunately.
