@DeeJayMiikkii yeah mate the gt650r is learner legal it's got a touch more power the the gt250r. but there is also a ducati 600 naked model not sure wat type but yeah it can be restricted as a leaner legal.
Awesome vid mate, very quick pace. I have been up there many times with this good weather and over the brow at 2:40 there are lots of gravel spread across the road- I just about binned it on my MC22 so watch out! :S
Yeah the roads munted now....they have resealed basically the whole thing and with all the bad weather the roads covered in mud so we try and avoid it now and use west road instead...not as fun as twilight though. from start to finish we do this road in about 3:30 (on our 250s...we both hav 600s now)
The vtr250 looks 10 times better like a baby ducati monster for 1 hmmm nice. Then it's a v twin 4 stroke, where as the cbr is a 2 stroke with a power band. The v twin dosnt have to work as hard and has a much better sound ;)
What your talking in a straight line? Through the city say an 1hr+ ride you'd have no chance..... And if the the vtr did have 6 gears it'd hit 180kms easy and the gear ratio would be different.... and a v twin would rev much smoother and faster. Give up- you cant win ;)
Quick question.... Which one would be better at cornering? Could a good VTR rider embarass the CBR on a mountain pass? Not sure if you've riden either although being a mechanic i'm guessing you've ridden a few bikes. Thanks for your help mate.
Yer i was thinking that but i guess the VTR rider was more confident and capable of accelerating hard, if not full throttle, out of corners. But still CBR rider was good for a beginner rider. I think that they are beginners because i assume that New Zealand has similar laws to NSW, Australia.
I heard that some parts of Australia are 250cc and under for learners, right? Thats how it is here (atleast it was a couple years ago when I did my learners, I think it may be a power/weight limit now). So yea, usually learners ride these 250s, the rider in the vid prob is, but me, and a lot of more experienced riders I know just love riding them because of how fun they are, even if they are slower than 600s&thou's. This bike=full lean, full throttle, knee down, no problems with grip...FUN! :D
Its got nothing to do with how many gears it has. Its because it naked. A Yamaha Vmax is more powerful than a Busa. But it is slower on the top end. Fairings make a big difference buddy.
yeah thanks mate for vid is this road in nsw iam in the hunter and looking for some good roads thanks mate i only got GS500F but i get a CBR600 soon so iam looking forward to it heaps thanks mate
ha cool video im gettin 1 cause they look great get the girls ta me faster, beats city traffic jams and gos faster than my m8s 125 and dads 700 crapy deuiville and keeps up with the gsx 1400 i hope well hes a slow driver anyway...im not...cant help it..sergant!!
haha yeah mate sure is. yeah iv just spent 3 weeks in greece and it was hard to get used to it being the other way round lol! i almost got hit by cars 3 times!
VTR250 will always win, coz the cbr250rr guy will have to stop at every spine bender he see's after an hour. I rode a vtr250 from Bundaberg to Goulburn a few times thats about 3000km.
after seeing your posti video i was expecting squid tech. but you actually rode pretty well.
hahah crack up mate..the postie video is my brothers.. the bike we all learnt on! that has since been cornered my two cops and stopped by the park council so we took it to the farm and the flywheel has crack so its finaly dead. yeah thats true the vtr is one hell of a comfortable bike to ride but i did ride the cbr250 around the north island on a 4 day ride and it was only on the last day that it was painfull haha..but yup ur right there...cheers for the comment mate!
Good on ya mate lol. I got my dads tri-pod and cut the top of it off with a hack-saw and then shovved it down the bit where the steering joings the frame (theres like a hole there) worked a treat!
hey criticmbso How does the VTR250 open up by comparison to the more powerful CBR250. Can the vtr hold it's own well on the open road or is the CBR much faster?
gday, yeah the cbr does pull away from the the vtr at top end )cbr does about 180, where the vtr only does 150), however after a long rıde the vtr wont b that far away! max 1 mınute so yeah?? through the corners they r exactly the same of course!
true riding on 250 !

ive been riding with a cbr i know how they sound, their revs ar 18K...the vtr is 13k, + 6 gears. i think we know which one will be faster.....

dreadly101 3 years ago
actually v twins have a lumpy power delivery and rev slower coz of the bigger pistons, dont argue, im a qualified bike mechanic (Y) :)

Put it this way... The guy on the cbr should have blitzed the vtr revving it as hard as he was.

Dongsofthefuture 2 years ago
CBR is 4 stroke & NSR is 2 stroke get your damn facts sorted
malakai00 2 years ago
Malakai, yeah I know that, no one is talking about NSR's here so I don't know what point you're trying to make lol
Dongsofthefuture 2 years ago
Sorry Dongs, was not aimed at you but several other posters who dont check their facts very well
malakai00 2 years ago
The CBR250 is a 4 stroke inline 4, are you sure you're thinking of the right bike?
CosmoxYRik 2 years ago 2
Very impressive from a 250!!!.
Slickfish001 3 years ago
Nice video, nice riding. The CBR manages to sneak in front with it's higher top speed at the end but it's pretty close apart from that
qwertyasdf9090 3 years ago
I would like to see another run with the CBR in front and the VTR at the back with the camera and trying to keep up
qwertyasdf9090 3 years ago
great video. the VTR certainly didn't disappoint against 18,000RPM or whatever it is lol
