Jon Huntsman seemed to fall under pressure. Not sure if he even took it seriously, because he seemed to be terrible at campaigning and debates. Smart guy, but tried too hard to be a smart ass.
Putting country first, sounds nice and pretty, but to be honest I'd rather have a CIVIL REPRESENTATIVE than a COUNTRY OFFICIAL. We need a representative, not a leader. If they stand for the "country," they have to put people first. The people ARE this country.
I'd also like to say that @jackyb92, he has no baggage whatsoever. The newsletters written under his name have been the only forms of slander against Paul. Jon Huntsman was in a strange place. Ambassador to China?
What Romney said translated to me that he doesn't care about anyone but conservatives and Republicans. He values his agenda over the well-being and rights of other citizens. It's disgusting. But at least he isn't as despicable as Gingrich or Santorum. I wish it didn't have to be one party vs another and that there really was realistically room for a middle ground.
I met Huntsman when he was the Ambassador to Singapore back in the 90s. He was always very gracious, humorous, and kind. His wife is a sweetheart and created calligraphy thank you awards by hand for people who helped out with various things-- such as volunteer tax consultants. I'm pleased to see he isn't interested in blindly towing the party line just because it is for that particular party. The Us vs Them attitude is sickening.
@suceress Good to hear a politician be a politician. Cool story bro. What they say means nothing. Ultimately, it's how much power they take for themselves and who they surround themselves with. Ron Paul would destroy this country. Jon Huntsman wouldn't do much because he's unreliable and a poor speaker. He tried consistently to be a smart ass and kind of failed obviously. Being a smart ass in debates will not get people to vote for you.
Ron Paul has too much baggage with the newsletters and everything (whether he wrote them or not it looks bad), Jon Huntsman doesn't have any of that and would thus be a better choice to challenge Pres. Obama. Don't get me wrong I respect Paul, he has stuck to his views for years now without ever changing them depending on what audience he is in front of and he does have some valid points about the economy, but I would feel far more comfortable voting for Huntsman than Paul.
@JackyB92 Both Paul and Huntsman would make terrible presidents. As a republican, I'd much rather have Huntsman as Ron Paul would literally destroy America. Huntsman just seems a bit unreliable and was pretty poor in debates.
Huntsman doesn't believe the planet is less than 6000 years old, and he doesn't think scientists made up global warming as a plot to get grant money. Obviously, he is far too sane to be nominated by the Republican Party in 2012.
Next to Ron Paul, Huntsman would be my second choice for potus. Having a diplomatic relationship with China is very important, especially considering they own much our nation debt and are our one of our largest global competitors. This should not be trivialized and reduced to some political agenda, as Rhomney advocates. Holding your oath and resopnibility to your country and its people should ALWAYS come first--it is plain to see Rhomney is just another unrighteous political player.
@majvg i like Ron Paul, and I respect him and think he is one of the last truly honest politicians we have left, but he is my second choice behind Huntsman because under a paul administration, he would veto every bill put to him and all of his proposals would get voted down

Let's WRAP our heads around this:
President Mitt Romney, will be our first Commander-in-Chief that sat out a military draft on a Religious deferment
As to his 5 sons of military age, Romney says they serve their country "better" by working on his endless political campaigns of the past decade
So when he attacks Iran, religious deferment Mitt will have no problem sending YOUR sons to war, because his sons have better things to do.
He thinks he is ENTITLED to be nominated, entitled to rule

@flyingjazz Ditto for Romney. He just has to pretend to be a throwback to earn the trust of the Republican base.
