@azuritereaction I see, you're an exception. I might watch your walkthrough, but i like to see people freaking out at least. How is Amnesia too logical? The puzzle solving was present in Penumbra, too, already, and the point of the game was to create an immense atmosphere from the start, so that's that.

I've yet to play Afraid of Monsters, and i believe i never will. This one has olden graphics ( HL1 mod ) and is even darker than Amnesia at points. Ever played it?

@IareMikeJones he wrote a boatload of novels and influenced legions of people in regards to the horror (and possibly fantasy) genres, if i remember right. haven't read any of his works but he's influenced a LOT of things

@azuritereaction Yeah, you're right, Dez. He was the first majorly popular horror writer and was one of the most famous authors of his day. Most authors nowadays unintentionally end up ripping off his writings because he wrote so many innovative things for his time. I recommend you read some of his works. He didn't really write all that many novels. Most of his works were short stories with twists at the end. He may scare you, I think he would have that effect on you. Been a fan for a while!

@azuritereaction Oh, man. You have no idea. That's what I thought too until I actually gave it a shot. Put some headphones on, turn the lights off, and immerse yourself. You -will- get tensed up and fairly frightened. I'm not saying do it as a commentary, just give it a go. ;]

-large, dark voids of space

-areas without walls, i.e. the reverse of claustrophobia

-poorly done graphics, leaving the scariness to be filled in by your imagination

games like amnesia aren't BAD, but since it's got high quality graphics, walls surrounding you, as well as not that much randomness happening (not like LSD at least) it kills a lot of the fear factor for me

stuff that scares most people doesn't really scare me usually & vice versa :P
