  • you sir are mental!

  • that was on tarmac...

this is salt.. quite a difference there wouldn't you say?? Dani pedrosa had al the grip in the world doing those speeds.. this guy is spinning the rear wheel at 200mph....

  • danny pedrosa hit 217mph on his honda rc11v repsol at muggelo :) his bike weighs 140kg dry and has 230 240bhp and revs up to 18.000 rpm

  • wow, your so cool...

  • cheers mate;)

  • The song is "Going the Distance" by "Cake"

  • Very nice run! This clip really demonstrates the difficulty of tire grip on this type of surface. You managed to maintain excellent throttle control throughout the entire run, good job man.

  • True that I was out there yesterday and driving a car on the salt is one thing but a bike would scare me that salt is hard but it gets a dusty sand layer on top of it and any bump or debris on that track would make some serious problems at that speed

  • Nice vid! You have the power! I wich you had the grip!

  • Make sure u keep that 2nd red hat clean. :-)

  • god job though (Y)

  • lol at the naked bike. such a difference.

  • how shit is that song man

  • dayum... wow... fuck that. haha.

  • Holly Hayabusa X 100

  • Bad ASS!!!

  • Holly Shit That was Bad ASS!!!! I Think I just shit myself!!!!!!!

  • never rode a bike that didnt need another gear ;-)

  • put a few pounds of ballast on that honker...

  • We had a total of 186 pounds of lead in and on the swingarm!

  • dam

  • No disrespect intended, this is an honest question, don't get me wrong.

What is the issue with land speed records?? you set a new record at 340kph, a moto GP bike reaches in excess of 320 in a straightaway of a kilometer or less, irish bike racers reach 320-330kph on the street on Yamahas r1 or equivalent bikes, without turbos or anything special.

  • A stock R1 reaches 300kph, I personally race a 2007 R1 on the track and I reach 280 on a 0.9 km straight.

Why is it so hard to get to 340?? I know aerodynamics have a exponential effect, but does it really count that much??

  • The major factors are the racing surface where you loose about 15% of your rear wheel power to wheel spin and the elevation of the Salt Flats. The Flats are at 4500 feet (1370 meters) above sea level, Speedweek is in the middle of the summer with temperatures nearing 100F/37C so the density or corrected altitude is as low as 6500 feet (1986m) and I have seen higher than 9000 feet (2743m).

  • You will notice that in the standing mile events such as Maxton and Texas the speeds are MUCH higher for the same class because they are running on concrete/asphalt at low elevation.

There is usually a 20-25 MPH disparity between the same bike running with and without fairings. Unfaired being the slower of the two. This is especially true at Bonneville and El Mirage where traction is an issue.

  • On the above run the throttle position was between 64 and 78% for the majority of the run trying to put the 430+ HP to the salt. We turned down the boost on subsequent runs and went faster.

I hope that may have helped little.

  • Oh, I see... I didn´t know the salt flats were at such altitude and at that temperatures. And on top of that, having wheelspin issues, now I can see the challenge!

Thanks for the info. Great run!!!

  • LOL you obviously have never been on the salt flats... imagine trying to ride a motorcycle through a very small layer of sand that goes on for miles and miles, and you have the salt flats. And no shit racing bikes go faster...for one his bike lost alot of aero from the removed ferrings and shield. And if you read the describtion to the video it makes its quiet obvious that hitting 200+ on a naked bike even with a turbo is very hard and not many people have done so.

  • No ,I have never been to the salt flats, that´s why I asked in the first place. I agree that no shit race bike would go faster, but a yamaha R1, an MV Agusta or Ducati 1098 which are not shit race bikes would go faster anytime, without turbo or any other sophistication, only a 50 dollar sprocket. Sorry, you might not like to admit it, but that´s how it is.

  • ROFL R1 faster than a busa.... yeah there is a reason that a busa can't compete in formal racing. For one the bigger engine kicks the 1kcc that the R1 has. You can find a short 20-some second video of a guy getting blown by a busa while pinning his R1. Even a stock busa can go faster than the R1. As for the agusta and ducati, im not knowledgeable on either bike to comment on.

  • Damn man, did I ever said that an R1 was faster than a busa on a straight??? NO...

I said that an R1 is faster than THE BUSA ON THE VIDEO, setting a record at 340kph.

  • Ok well that you for proving your own point wrong. Since speed runs are done in a straight line, the busa will always be faster than the R1 when driving on the same surface. Making a point that a bike is faster than the one in this video on the street is just stupid since the busa in this video isnt on a smooth surface and if it was could do well over 240, which is crap loads faster than any unmodified R1, ducati or agusta.

  • Now now ladies meeeoooow!

  • One of the bset videos ever!!! It takes some pretty big...u know the rest...
