What alot of people are forgetting is that even though Jet's style of fighting is very fast and direct close contact blows (Not that Jackie's style isn't) Jackie Chan does all these as well but with unconventional props i.e. brooms, ladder, desks, etc. In a Jet Li vs Jackie Chan fight Jet might win just from sheer speed and power, but not if they were in a janitor's closet.

The main difference between movie kung fu and real kung fu is that in movies they have cool effects around actors(flowers and other shit flying around them :D) and they do super jumps which is impossible IRL. The idea that people like you get from IRL kung fu is because you dont see people using it in real FIGHTS. Ofcourse it looks boring and not cool in training since the moves are not done in chain. 1 move trained like 50 times in a row..
