Etho! In 1.9, the swamp biome grass is gonna get GROSS and dark lol. And I think the original grass might get back to normal the way you like it. So I don't think a swamp biome is where you want to be. Unless your gonna destroy the grass to build a mob system. :)

also, i thought that now, passives only spawn when chunks are being loaded. mob systems should work fine, as long as the ceiling is only 2 high. mine is completely intact, and i use it a ton.
