The Georgia Tech player pulled his arm as he was falling down. If the defender wouldnt have run in front of him and done that he might have made the catch. Good call. No reason to post this video. Dislike
I am a UGA fan, and that call was BS, but that was a home game for Tech so I imagine it was ACC refs. I saw the Miami and Virginia Tech game (I could bbe wrong on rather it was VT) but he refs called pass interference when a Miami defender never even touched the wide receiver!
I HATE UGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they get these calls EVERY year. But when Gt finally gets one ( the jasper sanks play) the stupid mutt fans hold it over us forever.
@GoldenTornado No because the defendder has a right to his position as much as the offensive player. The offensive player actually pushed off. He is the one that innitiates the contact and really is the only one who realyl makes contact. Clearly not defensive pass interference. Like teh announcer said maybe offensive pass interference if anything. terrible call.
@ahill130 that and GT sucks. no man just kidding we do get alot of bogus calls going are way that shouldnt happen. Still we usually have the better team or play a better game that day. I lost respect for you guys though when you chanted to hell with Georgia during the larry munson tribute. Stay classy GT
no @football5680 is right. but that rule only applies in the NFL. hahaha so sain and gt were both worng as well. Learn up on your fact before you start bashing other people on theirs.
hey we're human. we make mistakes. we have to make a split second decision in front of thousands of people. let's see you in the same situation. and fyi there's only one referee: the guy with the white hat and the 'R' on his back. He makes the final call. everyone else is a different official.
U- umpire: behind D line, calls line penalties
L and H- line judge and head linesman: on opposite sides of line of scrimmage. call line calls
whoever says this is pass interference obviously did not watch the slow mo at :50 where the def. player did NOT touch the receiver. at full speed it does look like interference.
They got the number wrong but that doesn't matter.
Refs cant always see the players, he saw the pass interference then the first player he saw was #23.
The GT players was just running and guarding the person which is pass interference. You have to be looking at the ball, if you are not looking at the ball and you just run up and put your hands on a player it is pass interference.
@football5680 So wait, so by you're explaination here you say it is pass interference if you have no eye contact with the ball?! That is not true whatsoever you have obiviously never played football in you're life or if you did you have never been a DB. It is impossible to see the ball at all times or in this case, when you get burnt deep. If anything it was offensive pass interference due to the UGA receiver using his right hand to push the DB by him while coming back to the ball. Not on the D.
At full speed it looks like the defender grabs the offensive player's arm. With the ref behind the play, I can only imagine that's what he thought he saw. Clearly it isn't what happened, but that's what the ref thought happened. BTW, the receiver does not have "right of way" to the ball.
the reciever has the right away to the ball and if u watch the GT player tries to grab him and since the ref saw that the arm go back from th DB to the WR. he threw the flag. but his veiw was blocked by the Wr and DB so he didnt actually see it but he assumed it happened
I'm a Nebraska fan, just interested in the video- I can understand the call that the refs made because the cb did hit the hands of the wr. However, the wr did push off if the cb. I would have flagged them both and redo the play.
I think What the ref saw was the CB's arm come back, which he couldnt see the other side obviously. It was Offensive pass interference, but he couldnt see the CB try and look back and that his arm didnt touch the WR. bad call
It's a rule that should definitely be changed but if an offensive receiver comes back for a ball that is already in the air and the defensive back makes any contact with him that seems to obscure his ability to make the catch than it is by rule pass interference.
Actions that do not constitute pass interference include but are not limited to
(a) Incidental contact by a defender’s hands, arms, or body when both players are competing for the ball, or neither player is looking for the ball. If there is any question whether contact is incidental, the ruling shall be no interference
(b) Inadvertent tangling of feet when both players are playing the ball or neither player is playing the ball
@Zaxxon2008 a) the defensive player clearly reaches back towards the receiver...not incidental contact
b) none of that occurred during this play
c) this ball was indeed catchable, while it would have been an amazing catch, this pass held the ability to be caught if the receiver had not lost his footing
d) It is hard to tell wether or not the defensive players arm shifted the receivers weight at all causing him to not be able to receive the pass.
@procircuit844 and you have proven yourself to be nothing more than a blindly biased Georgia fanboy
top it off with your idiocy and the fact that you're nuts and you'd have a sundae!
you clearly quit watching after 10 seconds and had your mind made up to side with your team. anybody with functioning eyes & half a brain can see @ :56 the CB made ZERO contact with the WR, and that the WR in fact pushed the CB
thats just a plain fact
fact that you cant or refuse to see it means you're dumb
@Zaxxon2008 lawls...I'm a Missouri Tiger all the way there big guy. I viewed this with 100% un-bias because I couldn't care less about either team or the result of this game. Nice try though.
@procircuit844 I should also clarify that my comments were meant to explain why the official would have made that call. Considering the receivers back was to the official and the official was looking toward the ball that that could be why he made the call he did.
im sorry but other refs do it too. the sec just has the best teams so u guys always point them out more. every level has bad refs, from high school to college to the NFL.
@pele1281 I don't watch much Pac-10 ball, so I can't really argue with you, but IMO, it doesn't get much worse than SEC refs. I have seen some new faces this year, so hopefully they've shown some of them the door.

I love watching these videos. They remind me of the fact that the position of referee is basically a contest to see who can be the least qualified and most hated official in the country.
@astrosfanable Actually they probably could've gotten the Georgia receiver for offensive pass interference. Looked like he pushed the defender. But how the hell could the defender have committed pass interference on that play? terrible call.
it's amazing how many bad calls there are, i was watching big ten football and notcied 3 to 4 a game that shouldn't have been called lately. it seems the refs were so much better in the days before replay.
@muzapstar Because back then they actually had to make the right call the first time. Rather than reviewing it late because they just threw the flag on speculation.
good acting though.. from that ref's point of view i bet it looked like the reciever got his arms held up when he was reaching for the ball.. instead he actually kinda just slipped and swam over the defender.. bad call.. but tough call.. good acting and bad luck really..
Typical SEC officiating. They will stick it in your ass every chance they get. I was a SEC fan for 36yrs. I do not give those cheating bastards 2 minutes of my Saturday TV time. Cheating cock sucker.......
at first i thought it was going to be a matter of the receiver complaining for a call, but the dumbass ref was 5 feet away and saw the whole thing and threw the flag before the dude even got up. and then the other officials agreed with him. fuckin retards.
Ummm GT hs 6 titles they could claim but they only list 4. UGA has 5 they could claim but they only claim 2. SO GT wins that argument. Also we have John Heisman and Bobby Dodd... and I think you got the Toilet Bowl win this year.
LMAO get over urself... how many times does GT beat UGA (in football)... how many championships has GT won??? And who manages to consistently put up 10 win seasons in the SEC???
Refs get numbers wrong all the time. In the heat of the moment it does look like a Pass Interferiance. On replay it does not. remember they where not allowed to look at the replay.
There better be Pac-10 refs at national championship and not sec or big 12 all conference refs suck except Pac-10 cuz they do not care who is national title the let the game be played
hey UGA fanatic here and yes it was a bad call, but yall got sum redemption back with the horrible refs yall brought to Sanford the next year...o ya 30-24 GO DAWGS
So you will take 6-5 over 10-1? Georgia's 7 straight wins are only the second longest streak in the series. Win 8 in a row and 3 more National Championships, then run your mouth.
WE have 2 undisputed titles and 5 overall. WE were ranked #1 in a major poll 3 times and told were not called champion. Put it this way UGA has 5 titles. Then we have Herschel and Tarkenton. We have Greene second winning est QB in NCAA history. IN the top ten in bowl appearances, wins, and winning percentage. We won this year making it 8 of 9 almost matching your 8 straight and we did it in an era where you were ranked ahead of us 3-4 times. And this year we won again. Titles: UGA 5-4. We win
haha if you wanna talk about streaks in the past you seem to have forgotten the fact that our win best streak is 8 (1949-56) over yall's 7.
and i personally like to live in the present. yall dominated from 2000-07, the tables turned and we're gonna dominate the next few years. thats how it goes. you can talk big all you want, the truth is the truth.
Eb and flow of a rivalry it goes back in forth but fact is we own the only stat that matters in this and the UF rivalry. Whine all you want about the present who holds the all-time record? UGA and next year we tie Auburn to prove throughout history UGA owns all it's rivals
Georgia pushed the Georgia Tech dude out of the way on a badly under thrown ball. Omg this looks EXACTLY like the b/s Arkansas pass interference they called against the Hogs when they were playing Florida this year! I know this ref crew too they always make horrible calls I recognized that ref right away...theyre atrocious
This is probably the worst call i've seen in a while. I've actually started to like NFL games cause the refs actually get the calls right. Officials in the NCAA can't even get instant replay right. It just sad
Ridiculous rules..Why are we using the judgement of 65 year old men for the most crusial calls in the biggest sports in 2009?? WHY? Its not fair and has got to be stopped! It has to! Go to the tape for everything...takes only a few secs to get it right! JUST GET IT RIGHT YOU IDIOTS!!!
wow they should have challenges for pass interference to look again because that would have been overturned if they could i bet theyd call offense pass interference
your correct some people just cry about the call when they get the benifit of replay. 80 percent of these people on here probably would have called the same thing
yeah i know. did you not notice a posted my comment before those games... They got suspended so they got what they deserved. But its not jsut SEC refs who make bad calls tho
It was because the Georgia Tech defender reached back and grabbed the jersey as he was falling forward. That's why they threw the flag. It is obvious after watching it about 5 times.
Probably one of the poorest officiated game in the past few years. There was a pathetic intentional grounding call made against GA, and a MISSED intentional grounding call that should have been made against Tech.
The Georgia Tech player pulled his arm as he was falling down. If the defender wouldnt have run in front of him and done that he might have made the catch. Good call. No reason to post this video. Dislike

soonermagic24 1 year ago
LMAO get over urself... how many times does GT beat UGA (in football)... how many championships has GT won??? And who manages to consistently put up 10 win seasons in the SEC???
barbershop0525 1 year ago

@DrewsterDawg777 just cuz I'm curious, why would you claim less titles than you own?
that makes absolutely zero since to me.

IT IS Pass Interference.

I'd love for you to explain your ignorant comment.
risler34 2 years ago 12
Refs get numbers wrong all the time. In the heat of the moment it does look like a Pass Interferiance. On replay it does not. remember they where not allowed to look at the replay.
Andrew22915 2 years ago
There better be Pac-10 refs at national championship and not sec or big 12 all conference refs suck except Pac-10 cuz they do not care who is national title the let the game be played

hey its 1 on 1 ahah
rambofosho 2 years ago
hey UGA fanatic here and yes it was a bad call, but yall got sum redemption back with the horrible refs yall brought to Sanford the next year...o ya 30-24 GO DAWGS
wassahappnin 2 years ago
So you will take 6-5 over 10-1? Georgia's 7 straight wins are only the second longest streak in the series. Win 8 in a row and 3 more National Championships, then run your mouth.
showerscenester 2 years ago 2
WE have 2 undisputed titles and 5 overall. WE were ranked #1 in a major poll 3 times and told were not called champion. Put it this way UGA has 5 titles. Then we have Herschel and Tarkenton. We have Greene second winning est QB in NCAA history. IN the top ten in bowl appearances, wins, and winning percentage. We won this year making it 8 of 9 almost matching your 8 straight and we did it in an era where you were ranked ahead of us 3-4 times. And this year we won again. Titles: UGA 5-4. We win
Bigstevo101 2 years ago
sec officiating what a joke.
steeelerfan 2 years ago 2
haha if you wanna talk about streaks in the past you seem to have forgotten the fact that our win best streak is 8 (1949-56) over yall's 7.
and i personally like to live in the present. yall dominated from 2000-07, the tables turned and we're gonna dominate the next few years. thats how it goes. you can talk big all you want, the truth is the truth.
mricks161 2 years ago
Eb and flow of a rivalry it goes back in forth but fact is we own the only stat that matters in this and the UF rivalry. Whine all you want about the present who holds the all-time record? UGA and next year we tie Auburn to prove throughout history UGA owns all it's rivals
Bigstevo101 2 years ago
refs are bad everywhere and in every rivalry. tech has gotten cheap calls too.
WhoeveryouR 2 years ago
Georgia pushed the Georgia Tech dude out of the way on a badly under thrown ball. Omg this looks EXACTLY like the b/s Arkansas pass interference they called against the Hogs when they were playing Florida this year! I know this ref crew too they always make horrible calls I recognized that ref right away...theyre atrocious
vaibanez17 2 years ago
the ref is probably watching this right now like - i still see him push off.
BL0WiNHAZE 2 years ago
This is probably the worst call i've seen in a while. I've actually started to like NFL games cause the refs actually get the calls right. Officials in the NCAA can't even get instant replay right. It just sad
gx5cpx3 2 years ago
WOW, the GA TECH player was all over him....NOTTTTT....SEC Officials blow ANOTHER call
1tim31617 2 years ago
gawd tech was sposed to win that year too. that was so cheap.
beastskater4 2 years ago
Ridiculous rules..Why are we using the judgement of 65 year old men for the most crusial calls in the biggest sports in 2009?? WHY? Its not fair and has got to be stopped! It has to! Go to the tape for everything...takes only a few secs to get it right! JUST GET IT RIGHT YOU IDIOTS!!!
TheNateForrest 2 years ago
From the refs perspective it looks like he pushed the reciever away, sad call, but things happen.
brianr09 2 years ago
wow they should have challenges for pass interference to look again because that would have been overturned if they could i bet theyd call offense pass interference
MrASSWIPE123 2 years ago
horrible call, but that's how SEC officials roll.
acnhs09 2 years ago
the ref is looking at the bell the etire time. just sees them on the ground and throws th flag

lmaoo awfull call
dannyb1209 2 years ago
everyone makes mistakes. u cant review penalties. i even thought it was interference the first time i saw it
theawesomeness12345 2 years ago
your correct some people just cry about the call when they get the benifit of replay. 80 percent of these people on here probably would have called the same thing
Kartracer6 2 years ago
Its not jsut SEC refs that make calls like that. Its in every conferance.
Nunley222 2 years ago
Ummm have you been watching the games lately... arkansas got cheated out of the game against florida, same with LSU and georgia.
Aerieair 2 years ago
yeah i know. did you not notice a posted my comment before those games... They got suspended so they got what they deserved. But its not jsut SEC refs who make bad calls tho
Nunley222 2 years ago
Tennessee got cheated against Alabama.

HOW BOUT THEM DOGS!!! PISS ON 'EM!!!
windowsvistasuxalot 2 years ago
It was because the Georgia Tech defender reached back and grabbed the jersey as he was falling forward. That's why they threw the flag. It is obvious after watching it about 5 times.
deglock1 2 years ago
Probably one of the poorest officiated game in the past few years. There was a pathetic intentional grounding call made against GA, and a MISSED intentional grounding call that should have been made against Tech.

Typical horseshit UGA.

UGA gets the call as usual. too bad GT dragged em this year
PacmanBonez 2 years ago
Wow, if I didn't know better i'd think those were Pac-10 refs. That was clearly offensive pass interference, not defensive pass interference
bigravensfan21 2 years ago
brunnett is the one got pushed down
techfan2121 2 years ago
THis is funny stuff...the worst refs in sports PERIOD are ACC refs..NOTHING is a PF....GT fans ought to go back to the AU GT football game in 2005.
THE CB IN THIS CLIP PUSHES the WR before turning around...sorry but ITWAS PF!
