  • Kasparov is the best of all time. Over 15 years as world champion and 20 years as No.1 rank player. When 2700 rated player still rare in 90's, Kasparov rating already 2800,and it means he won more games and tourney than any other players. And defending a title is more harder than when u get it for the first time because ur opponent try harder and harder. Kasparov is the best and most complete champion. Mentally strong and technically the best, meanwhile Fischer still untested at defending his title

  • Fischer should have played Karpov. It was his job. They would have given him record endorsement deals in the millions If he would have defeated Kapov but he was a chicken bawk bawk.

  • Wow, young Karpov looks like one of the Beatles!

  • :19 Those eyes belong to an animal. Maybe a ruthless boa, or a careful web, weaving arachnid. Can't tell.

  • Comment removed

  • fischer 73% win percantage , kasparov 69% , and Karpov 64%

fischer only played 213 games, kasparove played 3000, and so did karpov .

  • Anyway Kasparov and Karpov is better than Fischer which I think is overrated.

  • @ZviagintsevKrasenkov

I am a Karpov fan too, but Fischer utterly dominated his peers--he is not overrated.

  • The openings are irrelevant. Bobby was NOT kasparov, Kasparov Dominated for over 15 YEARS. Bobby never even played as champion. Thats like saying if i used all of kasparov's openings i'd be able to beat karpov. That is ridiculous.

  • true, but Kasparovs brilliance does not make Fischers accomplishments lesser in any way.

  • @VikingII Bobby always played as a champion you fool. Don't post if you have absolutely no clue about what you're talking about. Fischer's understanding of chess was so far ahead of his competition at one point before getting his title such that he could hardly be compared to other world champions.

  • @Jaggerlock No you have no idea what you're talking about, obviously. Since my comment is in regards to an individual saying that he believes Fischer would be Karpov because Fischer beat somebody who uses some of his openings. That is irrelevant, and inaccurate. If you don't agree with that I don't know what you're talking about, but clearly you've misunderstood my comment. And no, I mean he never played as champion, because he didn't defend his title.

  • kasparov is a slight upgrade simply b/c he plays more aggressively

  • Well, he's married and has children, so I don't think so

  • That's just a cover, he could still be gay.

  • at 10 seconds karpov looks like his moving in for a wet one.

  • No,that`s not Dvortsky that`s Rafael Vaganian!!

  • Mark Dvoretsky appears to be chatting with Karpov 5-11sec. Black hair. Great trainer! Great books!

  • translation please

  • Excuse me if my English is not the best, it says:

"In the inmense breeding ground of Soviet chess players, the one who prevails as candidate to try to recover the world crown is a boy of just 20 years, Anatoly Karpov. This time Moscow has learned the lesson, the Soviet boy is fighting step by step, he resists to Fischer's 63th request that ends naturally announcing his resigning...

  • ...Karpov becomes the world champion by default; the honor is saved, but for the rest of the world, Fischer's shadow is still in the air. It's happening exactly what Spassky feared, Fischer is still considered as the best player in the world. Karpov tries to face the american on the board using all of the politic support he has."

  • Thx for the translation!

In a way, Fischers cowardice was brilliant. He had established himself as a god and did not jeopardize his reputation by playing Karpov. If he had lost he would just be another world champion - but when he stopped playing he became a myth.

  • It took over 20 years for the russians to study him and make an equal. quite a guy fischer.

  • Indeed. A brilliant (even if that word isn't fully adequate) player - he pushed chess to a whole new level.

  • Although I did not understand a word of it, I still found it fascinating to watch Karpov's mannerisms.

  • nice emo haircut!

  • LOL~!!!

  • HAW HAW HAW!!!
