she sounds just like my ex wife, driven by hate, fueled by anger, but probably not as violent, she went to bite my face this morning, bitch sleeps in her car now, lucky she is not swimming with the fishes!
I saw this movie when it first came out and could not believe a major studio would release a motion picture with something guaranteed to offend everyone.. Could only have been made in the 70's. My brother & I were the only two white guys in the audience & the after movie walk out to the parking lot was... interesting.
One of my favorite films. Horribly underrated. My favorite line from an the next scene, James Mason's character:: "Comb up your hair, comb up your hair I say. You're behavin' like a Georgia bitch."
I want to see this! They didn't have this at my local videostore. And my local videostore is not Blockbuster...lol I know they definitely wouldn't have it. They don't have shit.
Damn!!! This girl could act her ass off! Pretty realistic portrayal of slavery conditions for blacks and whites; I mean, come on--what woman wants her husband have sex with somebody else?
i always loved this movie. it does have a message, but it also has some very damn good acting. "that were stupid of you Hammond" I still remember that line.
You may not know this but "Mandingo" is finally going to be released on DVD in June from Paramount along with a fistful of the studio's other titles from the 50's to the 1990's. Now if only they can release the other movie with Susan George and that is "The Strange Affair" (came out in 1968 and was her breakthrough performance as she co-starred with Michael York).
Susan George is one of two British actresses that I know that has incredible, bugged eyes (the other is Rita Tushingham) and if you look at George's portraits from the early-70's she looks like her with the long, brown hair.
Is that meant to be a Southern American accent? Only I'm English and lived here all my life, and............(Pssst, even I can tell it's a shite Southern American accent)! She sounds more English than ME!
Oh well, at least she has TRIED to do a proper accent. Clark Gable always IRRITATES me in GWTW because he never even TRIED, and it makes his performance much less effective IMHO.
I believe Clark Gable agreed to do "Gone With the Wind" on the condition that he wouldn't have to do a Southern accent. He didn't try to do an English accent in "Mutiny on the Bounty" either. Audiences of the time didn't seem to mind.
Yes, it's true that Gable set that condition, largely due to the fact that he simply didn't possess the acting skills and didn't want to work with a voice coach either. From what I've read/heard, his co-stars WERE NOT amused by his refusal, considering it "unprofessional" on Gable's part.
Perry King was the most attractive man in the world at the time this film came out. Paramount has done a pretty good job of putting out a lot of their '70's catalogue - Lady Sings the Blues, Pretty Baby, Lipstick - so where is "Mandingo"?
It was a horrible movie but Susan George was spectacular.

Mandingo was pretty much considered to be very offensive even for that time. Maybe they don't want to chance bringing it out now.
