  • I love his picking just after the mouth organ solo out of this world!

  • please sir. don"t give that blubber head anymore press. we know who got it and who just looks like dere gittin it. shoot , nuff said....

  • I think it's fantastic that Chet and Andres could have appreciated each other - two guitar masters from different worlds. Please. I love them both, and their worlds are not so far apart - folk songs from their respective traditions, what more could you ask for??!!

  • @atplante Actually, Chet and Andre HAVE been together. I have a photo of them. Once when asked who the greatest guitar player ever was, Andre answered without hesitation "Chet Atkins"

Also, Christopher Harkening was often known to come over to Chet's house and visit in Chet's home recording studio.

And I'll bet you didn't know Chet recorded a whole album of classical pieces.

  • Every guitarist that people think is today's greatest thing, could very well repeat what Les Paul said about Chet: "He's got me at a disadvantage - Chet can imitate me but I can't imitate him!" Go ahead and name me another guitarist who had that versatility and breadth of talent...country, jazz, soul, rock, blues, and even classical. Tommy Emmanuel? I don't deny the guy's superb technical skills, but too "frantic" and busy - where's the soul that Chet put into his playing?

  • @TheZach43 You hit the nail right on the head. Chet MORE than deserved the monicker "Mr Guitar"

People who put down his playing are totally ignorant of the extreme difficulty of mastering so many facets of guitar style as Chet did and played with ease.

He was versatile beyond words. His hundred or more albums prove that beyond dispute. Chet was the absolute MASTER of the guitar. The consummate perfectionist, who managed to do all that while managing the careers of dozens of other stars and

  • @daffydoug putting them on the map.

I once heard someone comment that Segovia could play everything Chet could. What a laugh! That old stuffed shirt may have been a master of classical, but it's ludicrous to imagine him trying to play country, jazz, blues, and more that Chet played with ease. Those things take MORE than technical skill. They demand SOUL.

And Tommy? If it wasn't for Chet's early help and inspiration, I doubt he would be on stage today. I know the TRUE story of Tommy's

  • @daffydoug beginnings. He owes most of it to Chet. Just ask Tommy. He'll tell you in his own words.

  • @daffydoug

Agreed... When my father gave me my first guitar, he handed me several cd's of Chet, Jerry Reed and Pat Donohue and said "Here's a bit of inspiration".

8 years later, I got to play WITH Tommy at a guitar seminar he lead here in San Antonio...

    R.I.P. Mr Guitar...

  • Are you nuts? His version of Foggy Mountain Breakdown stinks! This guy was an ok guitar player at best. I say your opion is very wrorng. I do not itend to be rude but I just do not hear what you other people do in Mr. Atkins. May be in the 50's when guitar playing was not so skilled compaired to the 1970's to today may be he was the best. I am glad that many people enjoied his music. I just do not find it to be great. Thanks for the video. You are preserving history. Thank you again.

  • @ahnbra Ok guitar player at best????? Talk about a tin ear!! You are DEAF!!

Or are you just a troll?

You know what happens to trolls on my Chet channel, right?

  • @ahnbra My question is do you play guitar? I do and i can play a lot of stuff that sounds impressive and cool but I'll never be able to play like Chet. If you dont play you do not have a clue what is easy and what is a masterpiece in guitar picking. Those comments you made tells me that you just dont know any better.

  • @stonelight7 Don't worry about this ahnbra kook anymore. I just blocked him from my Channel. This crap about coming on my Chet channel and putting down the master's playing, simply will NOT fly.

  • Charley McCoy on harmonica I think....

  • Chet Atkins was a guitar GENIUS!!!! And he does wonders with this "song of Tennessee"! I still love hearing Lynn Anderson sing it, too!

  • I found out about this tune from the weather channel's local forecast. Great song

  • Chet Atkins = the rare combination of virtuosity and soul.

All types of guitarists from country pickers to blues players to heavy metal shredders are still in awe of this man.

  • so awesome

  • taht is sooooooooo awesome it rox magior time

  • Wow! He can play that without moving one bit! (Joking, obviously)

  • Yeah I can't believe how still he is! I'm trying to learn this but I still can't get the first note to sound sitting like that.

  • Atkins' vituosity NEVER ceases to amaze me! It didn't matter what he played, he always managed to make the tune "his!" Ah, what a blessing he was for us all!

  • Big amen to that, brother!

  • Well said daffydoug! Thank you for posting. :)
