i have sort of been getting the feeling that nobody really understands this movie. and it's as if, that is exactly what the writer's point: we are all so clueless to pick up the bigger picture from this movie. the metaphors, the allegories, the symbols. all i hear about when i mention donnie darko is that it's a fucked up movie and is too confusing. donnie darko is a movie exploring the dark side of human nature and high school through the metaphor of the dark and 'scary' bunny.

It also was highlighting the importance of friends and family...basically, it was a homage to creativity and individuality, and also a life lesson. That's just what I think, though...

When I first heard this, I wanted to learn how to play it on the piano. After listening to it several more times, I realized that no matter how much I practiced, my version would pale in comparison to the magic and beauty of the wonderful melody Michael Andrews composed, and would only ruin the song for me. I continue to listen to this version to remind me of the great mistake I narrowly but thankfully avoided. This is, quite literally, the most beautiful song in existence.

@Iamapanda897 Basically the main concept of this movie plays with predetermined destiny, vs choosing your own destiny. We see in the beginning, in "normal" destiny, that he died by the plane engine; Donnie is special in the way that he can "see" his destiny, and skips his death, only for him to realize at the end that not only is "normal destiny" the better fate, but it's the inevitable one as well.

You can bend this movie a hundred directions, and find something new and interesting every time.
