The reason Bond fans don't like this film is because it's seen as a poor follow up to On Her Majesty's Secret Service, considered by many to be the crown jewel of the series. It seemed like a cheap cash in on the Goldfinger formula (same director, buring back Connery with $million, etc.). Taken out of this context, however, Diamonds are Forever, is an incredibly entertaining film, with arguably the best score and theme song of the series.
