This is the projector im looking at atm. I am knew to projectors and didn't want to pay for a screen i've got a big enough wall would it be a good idea to paint it in white emulsion paint or make my own?
This is my first PJ and bought it on Xmas last year/2009.. for 2 thousand dollars, I set it up with 138” 2.35 ratio screen, and onkyo powerfull model/7200 7.1 surround sound system ... such is big screen, sharp vivid colors I real LOVE this PJ
Best it works is pitch blk room , would get the best in colors and sharpness. Very happy with this PJ.
I have this projector. The key is to get it as close to theatre quality and VIEWING ratio!!!!! Not screen ratio. As much as I like this feature...all it does is resize the image. The whole point is to eliminate the black bars!!!! This does not do that. Those damn black bars!!!! You need a very very very special TV or a projector to do this.
@sawink With 2 screens I don't have any black bars. I'm either watching HDTV / playling Xbox 360 or PS3 (or watching 16:9 blu-ray) on my 106" 16:9 screen or watching 2.35:1 movie on my 2.35:1 screen. So, I never see black bars. The key is to have 2 screens or an electric masking system like the Carada one (but very expensive!). My 2.35:1 DIY screen behind the 16:9 pulldown screen cost me about $130
@TheGeekThing Yes. I know this. I have both screens (both being elect ric) The black bars are still there even if you dont see them. How uch of the imageis cut off vertically and horizontally? in 16;9 and more importantly in 2;35:1? I prefer native if your projector can do it. I have this Panny and 2 others in a high price range. Thanx 4 the response. I really like the Panny and it would get more respect if it cost more. What do u like about it,Picture...etc? So 2 questions.I have PS3 and 360
@lovelohan Yes 2 screens. My old screen is in fact a 120" 4:3 pull-down, which is setup as a 106" 16:9 screen the way I installed it. When I pull it up I have a 113" DIY 2.35:1 screen. I went that way instead of CIH because I didn't want to reduce my 16:9 size of 106" for HDTV and videogames. I have about the same area on both screen (4 600 et 4 800 square inch). In the future I plan to replace my 113" DIY with a Carada 120" 2.35:1

Are you using an Anamorphic lens when you change from the pull down screen to the DIY screen?
Also, what is electronic masking that you referred to in the label in the video at 0:28
Thanks,

@dineshnain No Anamorphic lens, just motorized zoom. The masking is electronic masking from the projector
