I used to have one of these cats and have done exactly that with it more than once. it happens because they are so wide that you sometimes don't realise how far over they are as you are on the wire. sometimes they catch you out. And it's serious fun popping the hull that far.lol.

He does not say anything about 27 nautical miles per hour, he says 27 miles per hour. Otherwise he would have said 27 knots.. I own and sail a Taipan 5,7, which is faster than the Tornados of that era, and believe me when I say that going faster than 25 knots on an average run is just about impossible..
