Average Americans do have health insurance and some type of retirement plan. Why don't you? Lack of planning for your future shows little responsibility on your part. Send all donations to the oppposing candidate of MITCH MCCONNELL (R-KY), BOB CORKER (R-TN) and DAVID VITTER (R-LA).
Mr. Reid, you and your fellow senators' "help" is what got us into this situation. please stop trying to "help" us. its not working. just stop. please.... stay out of the economy and allow us to have truely free markets
Our Congress and Government is exactly where we should start. At all levels our government needs overhauled. Our local governments are full of a bunch of idiots with trust funds or otherwise way too much time on their hands. Our federal government is a mishmash of lawyers and failed businessmen who are all on the take for whatever they can get while in office. Don't even get me going on the crooked labor unions. I don't mean to overgeneralize...but stereotypes have a way of working.
Congress sits in judgment of these companies, be it Auto indurty officials, or Wall Street Execs from AIG, and complain that these companies are poorly run, and that they need oversight.
Yet, the Treasury Department has no mechanism in place to track how institutions are using $150 billion in taxpayer money that the government injected into the banking system.
Maybe we should fix our government before we fix private corporations. What do you think?
I would rather they save that money for another car company that comes along after the big three die. People are fools if they think jobs will be lost if they die. There will be a void left at thier deaths and some entrepreneur will come along a make a American car that Americans want.
Exactly...I was a mountain guide in Wyoming for 9 years...Toyota pickups outlasted the American vehicles 2 to 1. I currently have a 1997 Honda station wagon that I use for road trips. 150K and it runs and drives like new. I did have a 1990 Dodge Ramcharger that was a good truck other than the 2 transmissions I put in it...and the 11 miles per gallon that it got. My brother in law had a bmw that had 350K on it when he sold it to one of his employees. 500K on original drivetrain.
Why is bankrupcy and rebuilding such a bad option for these companies? Massive layoffs until the market recovers? Let the UAW workers get some of the dues that they have paid back...although in typical union fashion, it won't be there.
You miss my point entirely. The big three and their workers have fallen way behind in the way they do business. The UAW is a dinosaur...upper management is irresponsible. Why should the American taxpayer have to shoulder this burden? We are a free market system...it may be painful, but this needs to run its course. Are we going to give Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota a piece of the action as well? They build cars in the US. management. We cant reward poor business practices.
Let capitalism run it's course. These automakers have all made their own beds from the union workers to the CEO's. Let them go the way of any other industry that has been mismanaged and has put out a lousy product. I am sick of paying in my taxes as a self employed, self made man to help prop up a business that will never recover. The last 3 US made vehicles that either I have bought personally, or for my business have been junk and have cost me money. Screw em.
well what do you think about this, if the big three go under then it wil coast us 125 billion dollars.125 billion is just the begining it will get worse. Then you can realy worry about your monney. and the big three build good cars my mom still has a pontiac with 83,890 from 2001 and no problems and I know of a lot of people with good american cars that last with no problems and are fuel efficient.
WOW... 83K? You have no idea what high mileage is. Most of my friends have hondas with 300K+ miles on the odometer. Same engine and transmission. My other friends mercedes has 500K+ miles and runs like a champ. 83K miles...pfft.
The Big 3 automakers are the slaves of big oil & will never change. If they need a bailout, let them get it from their masters. It's not like the oil companies are hurting for cash or credit. Instead, they have a layoff gun aimed at the autoworkers' heads whom they are using as hostages & human shields so they can scare Congress into paying the ransom money with tax dollars they don't even have. When it comes to using terror tactics, these guys are right up there with Al Qaeda
Really? And what greed is that? Is it greedy t owant to earn a good living. Management didn't have to agree to any of their damands. And the unions have given back PLENTY. And you know what? I'm tired of hearing this "lazy union worker" BS. Fact is , most of them work damm hard. Sure there are some screw-offs. Show me a business where aren't any. But whatever, let em' fail. Your lack of comprehension is frightening. Well at least you had the sense to elect Obama.
Companies are always cutting back on healthcare for retirees and eliminating pensions. Many have actually eliminated healthcare for retirees-at $12,000/year for at least 20 years after retirement is almots $250,000 for a noncontributory recipient....sounds unproductive to me...
Absolutely. And that should be eliminated from their next contract (if there is one) But I don't think it would be fair to those who are already retired to have that which was promised them taken away.
Well...I could be challenged both ways. Corps are constantly renegotiating this in the retirees' packages. The Beth Steel did it, utilities do it, etc. It IS a large chunk of change. Maybe limiting the coverage to only the employee (retiree) would be a good compromise.
Lol...ya give them $25 billion so they can ask for $25 billion more in 6 months. Chrysler CEO talking to congress "But this $25 billion will really turn things around...pffffffffttttt...
AHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....Oh, sorry, I just remembered a funny joke I heard the other day."
General Motors plans to invest $1 billion in Brazil to avoid the kind of problems the U.S. automaker is facing in its home market, said the beleaguered car maker.
According to the president of GM Brazil-Mercosur, Jaime Ardila, the funding will come from the package of financial aid that the manufacturer will receive from the U.S. government and will be used to "complete the renovation of the line of products up to 2012."
The only reason the dem congress didn't give them a bailout the other day is because the exec's flew in on private jets. When the exec's come back from Detroit on there broken down cars the dems will give them the welfare check.
God help us thru this next four-eight years.
Liberalism will run rampant thru the streets. Wait ... it already has.
Sure will. You've seen nothing yet. Just wait until Obama gets in with a bigger majority of dems in the congress than there is now. Pretty much all of his handouts will be passed/
nevermind the fact that it cost GM $4,000 for the "corp jet" and they took 10 people. When you search the "comercial" airlines, they actually saved around $100 per person......
The bailout is BULLSHIT! Let the auto industry file chapter 11 and work their way out of bankruptcy just like the airlines did. I'd rather see the auto makers struggle than the entire country. When do these bailouts end? Who's next, insurance companies, telecoms, internet firms?
Cities and small governments are going to be next. This will open up the flood gates for the demise of capitalism and what was left of the free market system.
If it's truly a "loan" than it should be subject to the same requirements of a loan. Do you think that the auto industry qualifies for a loan? I don't. I doubt they could even qualify for a home equity loan.
No, this is a bailout. You're wanting to give them money to prop up their failing business without taking into account the status of their potential earnings and the market they are in.
If you're so concerned with the people, why not just cut them a check directly. It would be better.
This is not about the company and the fat cat executives it's about your friends and family You may think that Hay I dont work in the auto industry so @%#) them. But in a way you do, whos your customers who do your friends and family work for.
Trust me, I feel for all those individuals who are at risk of losing their jobs, and not just those in the auto industry.
My point is, the auto industry is a dying market. It's not lucrative for the companies, thus it can't survive. Infusing money into the companies will only prop up the companies for a short period of time and lead to wasteful spending. File chapter 11, continue operations, and WORK your way out of bankruptcy. That's the RESPONSIBLE way to tackle the problem.
I know you dont want to throw all those people with Pensions and a life time of work and under the bus, after a bankruptcy the car companies will just sell the cars at the same price and add to their profits.
Uh have you heard of AIG? They are the largest insurance company and we floated them 150 BILLION no questions asked, no need to see a plan. The auto companies are looking for a LOAN! And they already have track record of paying back it's loans with interest. See Chrysler in the early 80's!!!
Unions have raised the standard of living and pay for every one even if you dont think
So. Envy is human nature but dont let it blind you. You may think that Hay I dont work in the auto industry so @%#) them. But in a way you do, who is you customers who do your friends and family work for.
Under Chapter 11 the automakers will be able to remain in business, and employ the necessary workers, with relief from creditors.
This will encourage automakers to find a way to streamline operations and cut unnecessary costs.
Instead of spending money on private jets, and naming rights for football stadiums, they will be forced to focus on making a satisfactory product and delivering it to market at a satisfactory price.
Besides, they already have a 50 BILLLION dollar loan from the US
You have greedy corporate CEO's who take private jets to beg for 25 billion dollars from politicians who drink $500.00 bottles of wine at G 20 meetings while discussing the failing economy.
Yeah, this should work out just fine!
Let them file Chapter 11 and work their way out of receivership. Don't just give them 25 billion dollars. It's fact that when you give LARGE SUMS of money to people, they inevitably waste some of it. Keep them on a short leash and you'll minimize waste.
Let those mothers fu themeselves. Yeah u have the money but do your children, your future children. I can hunt with a bow and arrow (my kids can), a gun a knife, fish. Can your money do that when it is worth nothing. Ha ha. guess what your screwed. Pull that out your hat.
Why "protect" those jobs when the auto unions won't even concede any part of their contract??? Let them go bankrupt...it worked for the airline industry!!
YOu are a moron. JUst please if you don't know, don't speak. The Unions have conceded PLENTY on their contract. IN fact, management won;t even have to fund their Healthcare anymore. Plus they initiated a 2 tier wage system to be just as competitive as the imports.
Your reply is based on emotion, not fact. Try to respond to the fact that the the pilot unions and mechanic unions made no concessions until some airlines went bankrupt. And don't make any more lies about UAW making any concessions, because that has not happened! A 2 tier wage system?!?!? What a joke! That is probably just a new term for the job bank. Tier #1-those that ACTUALLY work. Tier #2 - Get paid to do nothing!!
Can somebody please explain to me why we're still protecting Japan for free under the terms we set after WW2? Japan has no military expenses (unlike us), so the Japanese government just pours all their money into research and development for companies like sony and toyota and then those companies run ten times more efficiently than American companies like Ford and GE because they receive tons of money from the Japanese government, then the Japanese companies put our companies out of business.WTF
Lets start with the cars they have now.Drop prices to break even. There not selling anyway.Low fuel, energy cars what 35-40 thousand.Who can afford to buy it.Lets get rid of the private jets security right. How do they get to work.Who cares who they are they run the co in the ground.Let them redo there salaries. And stop the millions in bonuses. You know some of the bail out will go toward this. And go on down the line to the car dealerships.
let's hand out straight A's for losing homework, throw gasoline on a burning home, give pedophiles a season pass to Disneyland, and Blame Obama for every earthquake while we're at it.
I agree with the Auto bailout on one condition, that the government hold all reins and call all the shots on what the Big 3 Auto should do, e.g. eradication of all gas guzzling vehicles like SUV'S, large V6, V8 cars etc., Manufacturing of more public transit vehicles, e.g. fuel efficient buses, better conditions for Auto workers, raise quality standards, improve on worker training. I am sure President Obama will ensure these conditions are carried out if this deal goes through.
OH yes let's let the government run things. They are sooooo effecient at that. Talk about socialism. You people like to think you're so intelligent about your autos.Ever hear of the catlytic converter?? For those of you who don't know it greatly reduces the emissions from your ehaust. Guess who invented it? Japan? NO. It was GM !!!! Do yourself a favor pull your head out of your import reports, go to a dealer and check out what the big 3 have to offer. BUY AMERICAN !!!!!
i think that the government will absolutely be forced to give a bailout. if these companies goes down unemployment raises to about 15% or more. 15%!, this means that a snowball will start to roll and unemployment will rise even more. in times like these we cannot afford to lose 3million workers.
I was a republican I am now a democrat. the auto companies are not asking for a bailout they are asking for a loan. if they fail 3 million people will lose their current jobs not to mention 1 million retiries that pay taxes as well. they gave their bodies and their lives with the promise of having a decent life after 30 years. no current emplyee at the big 3 makes more than 15$ an hour. they need the loan to make it over the hump. they will pay it back ! wake up you dummies
look it up. the 70$ an hour thing is bullshit. when I left and many more from my time there are gone. the newbies are mostly whats left. they make 15 bucks and hour kid .I know I was there
You really need to read more before you tell people to look things up. I am an accountant with many clients who work for Ford kid. I see their W2's. And the $70/hr wages are including benefits quoted from UAW disclosures in 2006. Its true there are different tiers for older and newer employees. So what? You are going to preach now because you and workers like you benefitted while the union and health care costs broke Ford's back? Join the ranks of the working poor like the rest of us.
Shove it up your ass Senator. I AM A TAXPAYER. I don't pay taxes to support failing companies. I've bought 7 cars so far and every one of them has been made by either GM or Chrysler (Jeep). I've supported them by purchasing their product (and then shitloads of parts afterward). If they can't turn a profit it's their own damn problem. Don't ask for my tax dollars, I'm driving you're fuc*ing car!
Let them burn. Unions, and the American auto-industry has itself to blame, then expect my hard earned dollars to go to these people? Who's next? The damn employees are get some blame as well. Sitting around playing cards all day, fucking around, making 30 dollars an hour, then want to whine to the unions, who in return whine to the government. GM, and Ford will burn. Then someone will replace them, just like that.
your hard earned dollars? so you aRE THE only one has has earned your dollars the hardway? I put 30 years of my life into Ford and they were very hard earned .sometimes I couldnt zip up my pants my hands hurt so bad . nowq that I have retired if the company goes belly up I will get an im sorry? its easy to point your finger when it dont effect you aint it. what should I do get retrained at 60? I will have to find a 10$ job ? lose everything? for what ? your hard earned tax dollars? fuck you!
oh I have , but remember Ford turned a profit in the 2nd quarter. but the financial crisis happend and they cant get folks aproved for a loan now. and lost 40% sales in the 3rd quarter. look it up. also my generation of Ford workers are gone. they now make 15$ an hour and have half the benifits we had. they have gotten rid of very many of the old school workers through retirment buyouts. they are on the right road. but the meltdown happend
You like to say look it up. How about you look at what bankruptcy really means? It means breaking all their contracts and debts and renegotiating everything. From the way you describe the predicament which is factually inaccurate by the way, bankruptcy could be the best thing for Ford. If we bail out every single company that is hurt by the credit crunch then we may as well use Zimbabwean currency because the amount of money necessary would cause hyperinflation overnight.
Im 32 and have learned a lesson that for whatever reason you missed.NOBODY OWES YOU ANYTHING!!! if you want to take care of your future you better not rely on anybody but yourself. BYE BYE to any business that can't be run effectively, I don't care who it is.
Well you can pay me now or pay me later. Fact is, if these companies go under, they are going to take alot of people and businesses with them. we're not talking about on store closing it's doors and putting 100 people out, we're talking hundreds of thousands out. I'm guessing you're from the south where you make all them jap cars. Funny how you, who are supposed to be soooo patriotic don't mind sending your cash to Japan.
We've already lost almost 2 million jobs in America this year. What about those people? Why should UAW workers be any different? Let them go into Chapter 11, keep their workers, and make the necessary cutbacks and sacrifices to bring costs down and profits up.
If they show some promise in their efforts, then let them request a loan in the future. Don't just dole out cash to people who run businesses poorly. The autoexecs have no foresight.
I own and manage a relatively small company that sells medical equipment. We're constantly working to find efficient ways to get the most bang for our buck when it comes to expenses. I don't see why these large corporations feel that they're immune to fiscal responsibility. It irks me when I wake up to read that CITIGROUP got a huge bailout overnight, meanwhile they've agreed to spend 400 million dollars for the naming rights of the new stadium for the METS.
FinsterFlummoxing-I am with you as a self employed small business owner. How can these companies be so irresponsible. I make enough money in 7 months to carry me throughout the year. During the other 5 months I am looking for other contracts that allows me to continue building a safety net financially, and pay for new equipment and technology to make me more efficient. I spend this money very cautiously just like you do. I bet Henry Ford is rolling in his grave.
What shocks me is that Congress didn't demand an audit of not only the companies books, but the expense accounts of the individual executives. Congress has failed the American people with their public dog and pony show that yielded no worthwile information with regards to WHY the companies are failing. I want FISCAL data before we make a decision. I suspect if we saw some of the personal expenses written off to the company by the CEO's we'd be even more appauled.
Thats right, my hard earned dollars. You don't think I'm not affected by this? You are dead wrong. Wheres the hell is captialism at? Please someone tell me. This is ridiculous all these bailouts. If you give the companies free money there is no incentive to restructure the company. Where was the steel mills bailout at? That's right, there was none. These companies have itself to blame, not me, nor the government. They are the reason why they can't compete with Honda, Toyota.
They can compete and they are, and it's important for them to compete. why are you so called Americans ready to let the last of our great manufacturing industries die? It's important that we produce something!! We cannot become a nation of service providers. And it's not FREE MONEY!!!! It's a f$%king loan!!!
If they can compete and they are why do they need a loan? You are right about one thing, it is not free. Please tell me where we will get the money to loan. Do we have some extra that no one knows about?

Uh..the cars I see are massive SUVs with V-8 engines unchanged since 1950s. The tech revolution consists of more velour padding,
nicer stereos, GPS gimmicks and rear seat TVs.
You are right..the technology and inventions come from Americans..but GM ignores it gut Japan is all too glad to scoop em up.

I don't mean to overgeneralize...but stereotypes have a way of working.

You've got to love the hypocrisy!!!
FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago
I would rather they save that money for another car company that comes along after the big three die. People are fools if they think jobs will be lost if they die. There will be a void left at thier deaths and some entrepreneur will come along a make a American car that Americans want.
Xantheus07 3 years ago

Let the UAW workers get some of the dues that they have paid back...although in typical union fashion, it won't be there.
marceads 3 years ago
You miss my point entirely. The big three and their workers have fallen way behind in the way they do business. The UAW is a dinosaur...upper management is irresponsible. Why should the American taxpayer have to shoulder this burden? We are a free market system...it may be painful, but this needs to run its course. Are we going to give Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota a piece of the action as well? They build cars in the US. management. We cant reward poor business practices.
marceads 3 years ago
Let capitalism run it's course. These automakers have all made their own beds from the union workers to the CEO's. Let them go the way of any other industry that has been mismanaged and has put out a lousy product. I am sick of paying in my taxes as a self employed, self made man to help prop up a business that will never recover. The last 3 US made vehicles that either I have bought personally, or for my business have been junk and have cost me money. Screw em.
marceads 3 years ago
well what do you think about this, if the big three go under then it wil coast us 125 billion dollars.125 billion is just the begining it will get worse. Then you can realy worry about your monney. and the big three build good cars my mom still has a pontiac with 83,890 from 2001 and no problems and I know of a lot of people with good american cars that last with no problems and are fuel efficient.
manypoo13 3 years ago
WOW... 83K? You have no idea what high mileage is. Most of my friends have hondas with 300K+ miles on the odometer. Same engine and transmission. My other friends mercedes has 500K+ miles and runs like a champ. 83K miles...pfft.
We need to build better cars. Period.
1BadGN 3 years ago
83,000 is nothing, kid. Hondas can easily get 200,000, and still run decently.

Companies are always cutting back on healthcare for retirees and eliminating pensions. Many have actually eliminated healthcare for retirees-at $12,000/year for at least 20 years after retirement is almots $250,000 for a noncontributory recipient....sounds unproductive to me...
HammockTimeNow 3 years ago
Absolutely. And that should be eliminated from their next contract (if there is one) But I don't think it would be fair to those who are already retired to have that which was promised them taken away.
1Gibsonsg 3 years ago
Well...I could be challenged both ways. Corps are constantly renegotiating this in the retirees' packages. The Beth Steel did it, utilities do it, etc. It IS a large chunk of change. Maybe limiting the coverage to only the employee (retiree) would be a good compromise.
HammockTimeNow 3 years ago
Lol...ya give them $25 billion so they can ask for $25 billion more in 6 months. Chrysler CEO talking to congress "But this $25 billion will really turn things around...pffffffffttttt...
AHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....Oh, sorry, I just remembered a funny joke I heard the other day."
Ian7570 3 years ago
Why is that guy still in the congress?
General Motors plans to invest $1 billion in Brazil to avoid the kind of problems the U.S. automaker is facing in its home market, said the beleaguered car maker.
According to the president of GM Brazil-Mercosur, Jaime Ardila, the funding will come from the package of financial aid that the manufacturer will receive from the U.S. government and will be used to "complete the renovation of the line of products up to 2012."
dave777blaster 3 years ago 2

Yes we need conditions on the loans, but a lot of jobs hang in the balance
FluxCapacitor2008 3 years ago
The bailout is BULLSHIT! Let the auto industry file chapter 11 and work their way out of bankruptcy just like the airlines did. I'd rather see the auto makers struggle than the entire country. When do these bailouts end? Who's next, insurance companies, telecoms, internet firms?
Cities and small governments are going to be next. This will open up the flood gates for the demise of capitalism and what was left of the free market system.
FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago
Its a lone not a bailout
The government is trying to kill the middle class, turning everyone on each other.
They dont want unions, do you think the fat cat politicians want you to have a living wage?
FluxCapacitor2008 3 years ago
If it's truly a "loan" than it should be subject to the same requirements of a loan. Do you think that the auto industry qualifies for a loan? I don't. I doubt they could even qualify for a home equity loan.
No, this is a bailout. You're wanting to give them money to prop up their failing business without taking into account the status of their potential earnings and the market they are in.
If you're so concerned with the people, why not just cut them a check directly. It would be better.
FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago
This is not about the company and the fat cat executives it's about your friends and family You may think that Hay I dont work in the auto industry so @%#) them. But in a way you do, whos your customers who do your friends and family work for.
FluxCapacitor2008 3 years ago
Trust me, I feel for all those individuals who are at risk of losing their jobs, and not just those in the auto industry.
My point is, the auto industry is a dying market. It's not lucrative for the companies, thus it can't survive. Infusing money into the companies will only prop up the companies for a short period of time and lead to wasteful spending. File chapter 11, continue operations, and WORK your way out of bankruptcy. That's the RESPONSIBLE way to tackle the problem.
FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago
I know you dont want to throw all those people with Pensions and a life time of work and under the bus, after a bankruptcy the car companies will just sell the cars at the same price and add to their profits.
FluxCapacitor2008 3 years ago
Uh have you heard of AIG? They are the largest insurance company and we floated them 150 BILLION no questions asked, no need to see a plan. The auto companies are looking for a LOAN! And they already have track record of paying back it's loans with interest. See Chrysler in the early 80's!!!
1Gibsonsg 3 years ago
I understand they're asking for a loan. I suspect that congress will give it to them. It's obvious you're pro bailout, and I respect that.
We just disagree. I think the auto companies have been resistant to change, and have done a terrible job managing expenses/costs.
It took them until just yesterday to break off their endorsement deal with Tiger Woods.
Here's another tip. Stop taking private jets to D.C. to beg for money.
Chapter 11 is the answer, not a loan. Let them work out of it.
FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago
which other industry today pays $70 an hour doing menial assembly work like a detroit [UAW] worker ?
emforty2 3 years ago
Unions have raised the standard of living and pay for every one even if you dont think
So. Envy is human nature but dont let it blind you. You may think that Hay I dont work in the auto industry so @%#) them. But in a way you do, who is you customers who do your friends and family work for.
FluxCapacitor2008 3 years ago
Under Chapter 11 the automakers will be able to remain in business, and employ the necessary workers, with relief from creditors.
This will encourage automakers to find a way to streamline operations and cut unnecessary costs.
Instead of spending money on private jets, and naming rights for football stadiums, they will be forced to focus on making a satisfactory product and delivering it to market at a satisfactory price.
Besides, they already have a 50 BILLLION dollar loan from the US
FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago
how can we trust those "fat" executives who don't give a rip about what the "less rich" people think?
NextGenerationMovies 3 years ago
You have greedy corporate CEO's who take private jets to beg for 25 billion dollars from politicians who drink $500.00 bottles of wine at G 20 meetings while discussing the failing economy.
Yeah, this should work out just fine!
Let them file Chapter 11 and work their way out of receivership. Don't just give them 25 billion dollars. It's fact that when you give LARGE SUMS of money to people, they inevitably waste some of it. Keep them on a short leash and you'll minimize waste.

15%!, this means that a snowball will start to roll and unemployment will rise even more. in times like these we cannot afford to lose 3million workers.
chrisca42 3 years ago
I was a republican I am now a democrat. the auto companies are not asking for a bailout they are asking for a loan. if they fail 3 million people will lose their current jobs not to mention 1 million retiries that pay taxes as well. they gave their bodies and their lives with the promise of having a decent life after 30 years. no current emplyee at the big 3 makes more than 15$ an hour. they need the loan to make it over the hump. they will pay it back ! wake up you dummies

Join the ranks of the working poor like the rest of us.
robnaro 3 years ago
It's only $70 an hour when you figure in the benefits.

I put 30 years of my life into Ford and they were very hard earned .sometimes I couldnt zip up my pants my hands hurt so bad . nowq that I have retired if the company goes belly up I will get an im sorry? its easy to point your finger when it dont effect you aint it. what should I do get retrained at 60? oh I have , but remember Ford turned a profit in the 2nd quarter. but the financial crisis happend and they cant get folks aproved for a loan now. and lost 40% sales in the 3rd quarter. look it up. also my generation of Ford workers are gone. they now make 15$ an hour and have half the benifits we had. they have gotten rid of very many of the old school workers through retirment buyouts. they are on the right road. but the meltdown happend
gregyman49 3 years ago
You like to say look it up. How about you look at what bankruptcy really means? It means breaking all their contracts and debts and renegotiating everything. From the way you describe the predicament which is factually inaccurate by the way, bankruptcy could be the best thing for Ford. If we bail out every single company that is hurt by the credit crunch then we may as well use Zimbabwean currency because the amount of money necessary would cause hyperinflation overnight.

FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago

FinsterFlummoxing 3 years ago

Thats right, my hard earned dollars. You don't think I'm not affected by this? You are dead wrong. Wheres the hell is captialism at? Please someone tell me. This is ridiculous all these bailouts.
