i thought the speed was just fine (I mean, listen to gould play this that shit is just insanely fast). he just needs to calm down a little with slamming keys on certain notes
Regarding the physical expression, that's cool. It's actually a sign of confidence ... AND you are trying to be expressive with the piece, which you should be doing in the first place.
Keep on working on it. Work those trouble spots over and over and over, till you can play this piece, error-less, IN your sleep.
Don't just be satisfied that you are able to play it ... Continue to polish it, Work it. Listen to others who are playing it right, and apply what you learn.
In my opinion, VERY sloppy..... It is apparent you are only playing this for yourself, without any regards to the composer. Do you know the story behind it? It is good that you can play ... that is a good thing ... but, a piece like THIS, you need to Practice, practice practice practice ... and more practice ... MASTER those technical passages....
You are NOT ready to play this piece ...
On the positive side ... you have tackled quite a challenge ...
You know, after I read my comments, I have been EXTREMELY harsh, and perhaps even RUDE. My apologies.
Here's what I wanted to say, in a much more friendly way...
I commend you on even being able to tackle this piece. That, you get BRAVO!! It's a tough piece to play...AND by memory, at no doubt.
In my opinion, one professional piano player to another, you need to find a mentor. You need to study WHY this piece was written, try to communicate that to your listener. More practice... :)
My concerns about your performance is not so much to do with the tempo of the "Grave" section. It has to do with your dynamic contrast throughout the entire piece. When you are making a crescendo, you start out already a bit too loud, and when you try to make "loud" louder, then you begin to make a pounding sound, in other words, "noise". I am convinced that you know the piece very well inside you, but it is important to express in a perspective of the audience. Overall, excellent techniques.
Nice!

I agree.
Practise before you play it, and think about what you are playing.
It's not all about speed.

I would be embarressed to go in front of an audience and a beautiful piece that poorly.

I think that the Grave part is supossed to generate an ambient totally different from the Allegro, and it was too fast and without any expression.
About the Allegro, that's the speed i like it, but the dinamics are not good at all.
Try another colors for the sounds.

just a suggestion: COUNT the first few bars of grave. and stay focused: there was some sort of noise in the audience but dont look at them.

i dunno if its poor youtube quality but you play certain parts are so loud that it is literally a banging noise
