I hate when people criticize Mark's playing. He worked for years to get where he is now by himself, with no teaching. Mark is the best all around that I have seen, buy the instructional DVD and you will know.
He is a VERY nice guy. I met him a few years back when Steve Vai and Joe Satch were in town at Guitar Center. He was the main reason I started to play back in the day when Creed first came around.
@IJIIKY9192 I agree with you on the first thing, but a guitar is supposed to be setup for optimal playing condition, there is a lot more than just action involved here.
there is no other guitarist out there like mark he is 1 of a kind his style is flawless, his execution is pefect, his melodys and song writing is simply unbelivible, he is a real musician and anybody that comes on here looking for tremonti vids then bashing him is just fucking jelous, mark is a really nice down to earth guy, hes an inspiration to me and he is my idol. what a guy
@kidrockyearrrh23 Totally agree, anyone who can play that crazy fast all over the fret but still writes awesome riffs that go with the rest of the music is just an amazing guitarist
And what the hell is wrong with speed if it's done right. Go fuck yourselves for those who complain about it. Its fucking metal and it takes a great deal of discipline, accuracy (ultimately talent) If you dont like the speed go listen to John Mayer. Tremonti has good phrasing, vibrato, and putting a little bit of some speed picking or legato every now and then animates the solos more.
I totally agree with what you said, but I definitely wanna point out that John Mayer can play some damn fast blues riffs, and is a pretty fuckin' respectable guitarist himself.
Agreed! I think Tremonti is the best guitarist to come out of the alternative/modern rock scene. There are so few modern rock guitarists who can even play half as well
this is just warm up people! i mean i do agree that speed isnt everything, his songs arn't all fucking Throught Fire and Flames! AND HAVE LOTS OF FUCKING THOUGHT PUT INTO THEM!! this guy taught himself how to play guitar, and to come out sounding like this is fucking impressive i tell you!! so how about we children sit the fuck back, relax and get off of Marks back because his hard work does NOT deserve to be talked about like that!! ROCK ON MARK, KEEP THE SPIRIT ALIVE!!
its called SHUT THE HELL UP YOU STUPID DUMB FUCKS! this is a vid that was taken with a shitty camera folks! it has nothing to do with his guitar or his fucking tone! ive been listening to his guy for years, and if you think he has no soul, you obviously have never seen any videos one him besides this. GET A FUCKING LIFE, WILL YA?!!
Wow. You think if a guitarist can play fast they're just instantly some super, duper awesome guitar god, huh? Well let me tell you something. Speed doesn't mean shit. It doesn't prove a damn thing. And, no. I can not play that fast. But I am glad I can't. I'd take soulful playing over mindless shredding any day.

tremonti is still a mediocre guitarist. yes he has skills and is fast but will never be one of the greats 1 because hes just got no soul when he plays and 2 he has god awful tone no phrasing or anything. also his sound is garbage.
Hmm, as for this "could Mark solo like that in Creed?" stuff... have you actually LISTENED to Creed? I mean... the guy came up with some mind-numbing riffs, even with Creed, even if they aren't "solos"...
but in the end... does it even matter? He was good then, and he's good now... I certainly hope he would get better over time...
Well, yes, Scott WAS holding the band back a lot, but Mark actually couldn't solo so well during his Creed era. He said so in a magazine, but I can't remember which one though.
You know, I love Tremonti and I think he is a great player...but good lord that guitar was going so sharp at the end there. I'm gonna go ahead and recommend he use some thicker strings if he's gonna tune that low. It almost hurt to listen to.
His attack is razor sharp.

It is as always a question about taste.

while his shredding is impressive, this man is an all-around prodigy of song-writing, technique, and melody

ya, you can really tell that creeds lead singer was holding the band back

yeah it was scott stapp AND creed's bullshit record label that was ruining this kind of beautiful creativity you see here

Well, yes, Scott WAS holding the band back a lot, but Mark actually couldn't solo so well during his Creed era. He said so in a magazine, but I can't remember which one though.
EnigmaBeats2K8 2 years ago
all that was, was modesty
he could shred for a long time before alter bridge
even the little hidden solo at the end of 'inside us all' is wicked
skrape110 2 years ago 2
Don't get me wrong, Tremonti could solo in his Creed era, but nothing as complex as what he does with Alter Bridge.
As for the solo at the end of Inside Us All, it was mostly just back-and-fourth speed patterns, so yea, it's cool and all, but nothing too special.
EnigmaBeats2K8 2 years ago
what combo amp is he using?

i think its a johnson millenium. seen he has it in one or two of his other video's as well.
