The 21st of December I was raped. It's almost been a year and I finally found a song that will relate soo much. I've almost killed myself multiple times. I self harm and didn't know if I was going to live through this month till I found this song, thank you.-3

I've always heard this was his first real heartbreak, the song touches on his thoughts about being committed and his family finding out about his thoughts on ending it all and how they reacted to it, I love this song and I can relate to it in many ways seems like the winter is the worst time for romance but I love it despite the heartache. Always want to thank these guys for great music like this :)

The song isn't about someone killing themselves. It's about parts of his life in general. Yes, it says "Who are the ones your gonna call when you feel like ending it all" But thats feeling like it. The song hints at suicide but doesn't scream 'suicide' to me. Black Orhcid is more like that.

I'll admit, I interpreted it wrong. But it's not really about rehab. It's about a mental breakdown. He's described the meaning as "My first real heart break......" you were closer than I was.

But just to add, this is just another interpretation. A lot of Justin's songs take a feeling, and explore what could have happened. So it could very well be a song about a broken hearted kid committing suicide. There's certainly nothing that rules that out.

my understanding is that this song is about him getting his medications re-supplied for him on the 21st and about how since the black orchid incident it seems to him like his mother loves him less and less and that his brother is having troubles dealing with having a suicidal brother and the end part of the lyrics about finding friends or ppl he can talk to that he doesn't have to worry about making them feel bad or sad about his problems as well......

this is one of my favorite songs by Blue October, I was wondering if ppl get the same meaning from it that I do though... the feeling I get is that he's singing about the pain he feels from growing up and having to leave behind everything that was safe to him (mother, brother, innocence etc)he goes to a pyschiatrist on the 21st, who tells him that he's too co-dependent but he can't let go of the need for safety. maybe that's all obvious but I needed to get it out there. I often feel the same way
