I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps injectors and tank clean and rustfree
The sound of these last of these old time "cammy sound" Mercedes engines and exhaust note are music to the ears. The mechanically injected version of this engine (SE) is even more refined. We will not be seeing engines like this anymore — the last of a very fine era of high standards and acoustic delight!

Not K-Jetronic on W108/W109 but last of the Bosch mechanical 6-piston FI pumps on the 2.5 and 2.8 sixes. The W108/W109 V8 M116/M117 (3.5 L and 4.5 L) had Bosch D-Jetronic FI. K-Jetronic wasn't used until 1975 replacing D-Jet on the M110
