Indeed, it is my second fave song besides Born to Raise Hell in the movie. Don Franckes was awesome in this and My Bloody Valentine 1981 don't you think? oh man Angel was another one of my teenhood animated wetdreams, she is one hot mutant girl.
Did you know the voice of Stretch and Zip is also on Inspector Gadget as some of Dr. Claw's goons and that nerd superhero? you can tell his voice. Did you think the Canadian version of this movie is better than the US cut? it told a different story set in an alternate world/universe instead of being after WWIII and had scenes not shown in the US release but a different voice for Omar. Angel sure has nice tits don't you think?
@Johnlindsey289 I thought that sounded like the same voices on IG. lol. I like both versions actually. They are both different but still great, just like both versions of Making Contact are. Angel had very nice tits that i would like to suck on and squeeze for hours.
There was also Nosferatu (1979) which has 2 different but great cuts which are great and the same for Nausicaa when it had warriors of the Wind or The Beyond with 7 Doors of Death. Same here on Angel for me pal. Do you think Mok looks like a cross between Puppetino from Pinocchio and The Emperor of the Night, David Bowie, Mick Jagger and sometimes Steve Tyler? and at times when he is in that costume, he looks like Dr. Scratchensniff
@Johnlindsey289 The Beyond is a far superior cut to 7 Doors of Death, but i agree about Nosferatu and Nausicaa. Mok's full name in the original script was Mok Swagger, which was intended to be a humorous reference to Mick Jagger, who he kind of looks like. He does also kind of resemble Steve Tyler, Puppetino and even Dr.Scratchensniff. lol
@Johnlindsey289 I think so too but she could be part mouse too, i suppose. lol. Yeah, i've seen Cronenberg's Rabid and Susan Roman is a great voice talent.
A fusion i think. She was also the voice of Snow on TinTin. Did you know that the voice of Elmayra from Tiny Toons, Foxxy Cleopatra, Dulcy on Sonic The Hedgehog, and others was voiced by Cree Summer who is related to Don Francks? it's true fact. Roman was awesome as Sailor Jupiter
@Johnlindsey289 No, i didn't know that Summer and Francks were related. Don Francks is one of my all time favorite voice actors and i thought he was great as the sheriff in the original My Bloody Valentine.
@Johnlindsey289 Yes, Don Franckes was awesome in this, My Bloody Valentine and Heavy Metal. Angel was especially hot in that sexy slave girl outfit. I've popped many a load thinking about her since i was a teen.
My second fave song of the movie next to Born to Raise hell! i grew up with this movie since 93 when i was 12 when i watched it on TBS with Heavy Metal, Vampire Hunter D, American Pop and Robot Carnival and loved them as i was hooked into adult animation. This is a great animated movie for the family despite some crude sex related humor, brief drug use and mild violence with it's PG rating.
@Johnlindsey289 That same line up "Heavy Metal, Robot Carnival, this, and Vampire Hunter D, got me too man. TBS late night in the early / mid 90s was a beautiful place.
I first saw Rock 'n' Rule when I was 6 years old & I instantly fell in love with this song during the club scene with Angel & (Cindy) Cinderella! I found this song back in '01 on a Rock 'n' Rule website, but the sound was kinda sucky. Downloaded it anyway. LOL
I'm glad that I found a better version. Thank you for posting this, Afrocookie!

Hi. I've been looking for this song in a good sound quality since 2004, the first time I heard it. Could you tell me if there's a way to get this song? I want that you send me this song to my email: koolewfru2@yahoo.com
Oh My Goodness!! I've ALWAYS loved this song since I first heard it as a child, when my step-dad hit me up to the animated motion picture, Rock & Rule...LOVE THE MOVIE...LOVE THE SONG!! Thank you so much for uploading this, and YES, I wish I can get the mp3 version :) .
This is seriously one of the coolest songs that they did. Love the part at 2:20 where there's simultaneous vocals, normal and electric mixed in all at once, almost entrancing, I really wish that part continued for longer than the 10-15 seconds it lasts. I put this song on an 80's dance mix, and listen to it frequently at work, always gotta turn the volume up on this sucker when I hear it!
Any chance of upping it on megaupload? I'm presuming the bitrate on your mp3 is higher than what's playing here? Thanks for the up though. Very impressed :D
I have been searching for this song for a long time I cant even find it on Rhapsody. And believe me I have been searching thru all their albums and they must have about twenty greatest hits albums and nothing still comes up
Why the heck are you looking around? You already found a high quality youtube upload. There's like 500 programs out there to download this stuff as an MP3. All they need is for you to copy paste the link to this vid and it's done.
All the more reason to download. What gets taken down can just as easily be put back up. It's the internet man. There's millions of guys like us who can always find a way to share this stuff. And there's only a few thousand of the uptight assholes who try and stop us. If this video went down today I could take the mp3 I pulled from it and put it up on 50 independent filesharing sites.
Oh, and they only go after stuff that people make claims on. I sincerely doubt EW&F is going to start rocking the boat over a small little song they did for an obscure movie from 20 friggin years ago. And the people who made the movie, Nelvana, prefer not to even remember it existed because the movie damn near killed the studio. They went from feature film to doing kids series because of this movie.
You remember this movie? did you ever watch it on HBO or video in the 80's as a kid or in the early 90's on TBS when you were 12 back in 93 or 94? i did when i was 12 18 years ago thanks to reading the local city TV guide and watched it, i loved it. I also watched Heavy Metal, Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival and American Pop as well, loved them. I even made myself uncut VHS copies of this movie, RC and VHD when i was 13 on a second VCR as i rented those and made myself copies then.
@Johnlindsey289 yeah i watched all of those but the thing was you had to wake up early in the moring back then I still have Heavy Metal Fire and Ice and American pop i don't remember Robot Carnival though and Anime was pretty much underground till the mid 90's. but still love them all.
Do you remember Vampire Hunter D on TBS, TNT or Sci-fi? Fire and Ice was another awesome adult toon i grew up with when i was 6 years old when i watched that with my big brother including Wizards and i saw Starchaser in theaters in 3D. Do you remember Warriors of the Wind (aka the butchered 85 New World cut of Nausicaa) as a kid? that was my childhood fave animated movie and also grew up with Transformers The Movie in theaters when i was 5 which was another good adult toon movie
Yes when i was 15 and it was cool.. I also watched stuff like Akira, Wicked City, Heavy Traffic, Lord of the Rings, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in The Shell, Pink Floyd The Wall, Golgo 13, Fist of the North Star, Beavis and Butt-Do America (Saw this 3 times in theaters at 15), Project A-Ko etc. as a teen as well. Did you know Warriors of the Wind was a butchery of Nausicaa? i didn't realize that until i saw the uncut fansub tape in high school.
@Johnlindsey289 Oh hellz yeah! I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw an old clip of Joe Bob Briggs. TBS was the shiznot on Saturday nights back then!
@HumanoidRose Nelvana was in such bad shape after this movie bombed they took up kids cartoons just to ensure they had regular work. A lot of classic saturday morning stuff came out of this.
Besides do you really think Youtube give a shit about a little known track (not even 6000 views in a year) which Warner Brothers clearly want nothing to do with? I uploaded this song because i searched for 18 years B4 i found it on AudioGalaxy with a shed load of material I'd been searching for years for, no other sites, be it digital or or good old vinyl ones had this track to buy! if i knew today who i downloaded this AMAZIN track off back in 2002 i'd be nominating them for Saintdom.
@afrocookie I don't know abou tthat. I never knew this existed until I stumbled across it on the homdrum EWF site, which had clips of many songs, but now all that has been taken down. I hope they let this stay up, as you really can't get it anywhere else.
This is a very funky Earth Wind & Fire 80's song that I've never heard before. This song should have been on the 1983 Earth Wind & Fire Magnetic album. That would have boost the ratings on that album big time.
I Concur Wholeheartdely. This Was Definitely A Jam That Would Have Been Big And Possibly Even Classic Had It Gotten Out To The Masses. It's A Shame That Like The Equally Great Movie That It's Included In Both The Song And Film Got Doomed To Obscurity Still A Great Track Nonetheless...:)
I love this song, I think its in the same vein as Let's Groove. This should of been on Powerlight and as a single, I believe it would of kept them in the game a little longer, I mean come on this is 20x better than Magnetic. Also you would wonder that after all these years a it would of been released on a compliation....either way best version right here
I saw on a web page (wiki...??) -refering to that song- : "never issued" ;so I guess it must be impossible to find; even today, even on a compilation...
How did this song not appear on ANY EW&F cd? Even their "comprehensive" history? I have the clip and the DVD, but haven't heard the MP3 sound as crisp as this. Congrats and thanx
Yes it was a limited budget ($8,000,000)and the small amount the studio got back from ticket sales was only $30,000. They didn't have enough money to produce a soundtrack. The only songs released from the film that are available to own (itunes) are Cheap Trick's Born To Raise Hell, I'm The Man, and Ohm Sweet Ohm. If only they had the solo "Angel's Song" by Debbie Harry and the duet with Cheap Trick and Debbie Harry called "Send Love Through" and Earth, Wind & Fire's kick ass "Dance Dance Dance."
The reason Rock And Rule wasn't very successful was because of how long it took to make. I believe in the DVD booklet, it's mentioned they spent about 2-3 years working on it. In the meantime, MGM released a movie called Heaven's Gate which was so much of a bomb, that it nearly bankrupted MGM. As a result there was a full blown regime change, and the new corporate heads weren't as enthusiastic about the Rock And Rule project when it was finished. So basically, the film was buried upon release.
I remember hearing the official one of Napster before my computer crashed, which is five-minutes long. Is this an offcial version or a sound-rip from the DVD? Thanks.
Well, I checked both DVDs, and neither of them have it, so it's probably a fan restoration of the song since it's not from any official album nor is it the full 5 minutes like you once had.
I cant beilive it!!! I only had a crappy old version that I found on the net that was copied from an old beta tape!I hope someday this pops up on some greatest hits EWF album.
Hands down my favorite song from this film -thanks for uploading!!!

Ironic that this was from around the same time they had that last album before the breakup, that was so crossover it flopped and is probably what did them in. Yes THIS is what they should have been putting out there then! This should have been the single. It sounds so much like them, and the chord progression also perfectly fits that whole '83-84 period (right before all the music went completely digital).

Also you would wonder that after all these years a it would of been released on a compliation....either way best version right here

How do you rip this off of the DVD? I want to try.

im not entirely sure. If you have the proper programs it is quite simple. Especially if you are a dj or know one :)

Congrats and thanx

the song was a made for tv movie. no soundtrack ever created because i think they had a limited budget. shmae though.
ladynikkie 2 years ago
umm, tv movie? the budget was limited but i'm pretty sure MGM produced the film for cinemas.
SwellBarney 2 years ago
They did but it wasn't very successful as Heavy Metal was.
animationlover1992 2 years ago
Yes it was a limited budget ($8,000,000)and the small amount the studio got back from ticket sales was only $30,000. They didn't have enough money to produce a soundtrack. The only songs released from the film that are available to own (itunes) are Cheap Trick's Born To Raise Hell, I'm The Man, and Ohm Sweet Ohm. If only they had the solo "Angel's Song" by Debbie Harry and the duet with Cheap Trick and Debbie Harry called "Send Love Through" and Earth, Wind & Fire's kick ass "Dance Dance Dance."

this movie is long overdue for a soundtrack! truly an underrated movie.

I survived the MOK concert and paid like $70 for a T-shirt. Man what a rip-off! As I said to the reporter there, it was bad karma man.

I remember hearing the official one of Napster before my computer crashed, which is five-minutes long. Is this an offcial version or a sound-rip from the DVD? Thanks.
Jal8919536 3 years ago
Well, I checked both DVDs, and neither of them have it, so it's probably a fan restoration of the song since it's not from any official album nor is it the full 5 minutes like you once had.

However, you don't know if Earth Wind & Fire even own the rights to the song to feature it on their albums.
