  • @BOOM7STAR I got your comment via email before it was removed. Not sure what you meant, but if you meant to say that the athletes in the other sports you mentioned, train as hard for that once a year event.... I get it!!! I always feel sorry for the runners up... All the Blood, Sweat and Tears.... All the pain and training, the sacrifices to obtain a goal... Anyone who puts that much effort into something they love to do, is a winner in my books....

    Keep on keepin' on.

    Bart.

  • There is no other side of gymnastics. The sport of gymnastics involves everything seen in this video. Even the stretching images from China, while difficult to watch, are not harmful. The coaches have done their job for many years and know how to make the gymnasts as flexible, strong, and tough as they will need to be.

  • at 2:42 is that shawn johnson?

  • Shall I make a montage of any other high requirement competitive sport during training and combine it with slow music and slowed scenes to make it look dramatic and bad? Shall I make mention of how many things have gone wrong during those exercises?

    This is no worse.

  • Of course gymnastics at a competitive level is not going to be easy! My daughter is 7 years old and started gymnastics when she was 3 years old. She is on the competition team at her gym and just finished her level 3 season. She practices 3 days a week for 3 hours at a time and loves it! In fact even with all the conditioning and hard training she is still bugging me to let her go 4 or 5 days a week. Some children have a drive for the sport, not all are forced.

  • Years ago I saw Shannon Miller muff a routine and start crying.... What a little princess I thought... She repeated this uncontrolled emotional behavior several times on national TV... I wondered why... After a little research, I realized a serious gymnast trains harder than any athlete on the planet!!!.... bar none!!!!

No football or hockey player practices 6 days a week for 6 hours. Okay Jerry Rice is an exception.... In one 3 min. routine, a step on a landing can del. a yr. of hard work.

  • i had just recovered from a broken ankle and yet i still had to do evrything even though i wasnt supposed to. ive quit now but i kinda regret it

  • boys dont get y we do gymnastics but then they say gymnastics is not a sport but its more of a sport than football or basketball we go through pain trying to do things we love we risk are lives and they say its not a sport id like to see them try gymnastics

  • I cant get audio on this, does anyone know where i can watch it with the audio??

  • any one who is a competitve sport, and competes, is going to endure training that is torture. I simply hurts to train your body, and athletes know its a part of life.

  • @gymnasticsfan1000 i share your opinion.

  • these tiny little girls have more drive, in one finger, than most men!

  • yayayayayayayay. Can be in gymnasticsto

  • there's def some questionable practices here that be called inhumane but a lot of them are just falls that result in injury, which happens in every sport. The message of the video is def very important and needs addressing, but in some cases, falling or getting injured is a part of every sport. It doesn't mean that just bc ppl get injured, there's something inhumane going on. Injuries, unfortunately, are a part of every sport, no matter how safe the training or caring the coaches are.

  • haha the first is dutch ;)

  • There's no sound.

  • is there a place where i can watch this vid with the audio??

  • its called pratice. gymnastics is awesome sport. like evey sport & every person. you have your good & bad days.

  • holy crap 2:36! ouchhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I wanted to do gymnastics as a kid, but the coach told me I was too tall and my legs, torso and arms were too long. She said she wanted "short and pretty" girls, not "tall and lanky"

  • @Hadra568 go back to her and tell her to lookat nastia. tell gymanst.. very succesful =)

  • @Vikz321

This was years ago. I do other stuff now.

  • @Hadra568 aww still.... bet that coach feelsl iek a bit of a tool now though =)

  • 0:35-0:37 my former dance teacher did gymnastics as a kid and they would do that to her like everyday for like 20 minutes and now as a 25 year old some muscle in her leg is torn becus of it.

  • @rsinger121 that's terrible!

i do that to myself, but your comment made me think twice.

Of course i don't hold it for 20 minutes....

  • Thanks for posting, sometimes is so easy to forget what is the price of success.

  • It maybe the most dificult sport of all.

    Not for everyone.

  • Hey guys, please watch and comment on some of my videos. Not a lot of people watch them and I really want peoples opinions. Most of my vidoes are of my gymnastics, so if ur interested check me out please and thank you =D

  • btw, moron, its THINGS, not thinks. And stop showing off that you are flexible

  • By the way, moron, it's IT'S, not its. And learn the basics of your own language before you mouth off to someone who is clearly not a native speaker.

  • omg they are such jerks

    .........gymnastics is fun though

when no one is torturing you

  • Olympic gymnastics are not what you get at your local gym. These are the real thing. Where only the top of the top make it with literally blood, sweat and tears. Do you think ANYONE in the real Olympic sports did not try this hard? It's almost disrespectful to not acknowledge their hard work.

  • @ilufy03 you qiuted? hahaa

  • no pain

    no gain

  • OUCH!!!!!!!!!

Those American football players are such wimps with all the padding they wear. Ha - Girly sissies they are!!

  • Awesome video!

    Thank you!

Can you post a clearer version?

  • it's hard and i break down in tears. all the time. but when i got that 1st place bars medal for bars... it all became clear what was gonna do with my life...

  • This was the point I was trying to get across earlier. Thank you!

  • I sometimes wish I had done gymnastics as a kid, but it just looks too much like hard work. Hard work and pain should be the last thing on a child's mind.

  • The old man at 4:23 looks really creepy rubbing on that girl's leg.

  • Knew a girl, 10, had a t-shirt. It said "If gymnastics were easier, they'd call it football".

Video above shows some bad training techniques, like bouncing during stretching.

I fell on my head during a dismount from the rings when still in school. Glad I was able to walk away.

I wince a bit about gymnastics, it is elegantly beautiful when done well and gymnasts are incredibly fit, but the damage from accidents, poor training, and other forms of abuse may be permanent.

  • The worst are the Chineses. They get trained almost from birth to do the olympics. It's batshit crazy.

  • The best performance are the Chinese as well. No pain no gain!!

  • no offence but there's a limit though.....and sometimes they just go over board.

  • It's terrifying watching them stretch and cry and there 6 months old!!! Really though, it's sick!

Glad to be a Canadian Gymnast.. (though I don't think we train hard enough ;)

  • @MWAHAHAHAHAAHH my chinese studies teacher was telling us that when the children go to Montessori at 2 the people from the gymnastics schools come around and all the little kids have to do try out so the teachers can gauge their potential. the "good" children are transfared to a gymnastics school where they will spend the rest of their life practically

  • @MWAHAHAHAHAAHH so do americans watch parkettes

  • 0:27 lol girl looks freaky

nice montage though sucks the audio was taken away

  • I think you should add music. I do gymnastics.

  • hey i do gymnastic and i love it, it is so fun but it is also hard and painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nicole

  • By the way. the athletes in this vid are busting their arses to be the best. If they did not do it in a gymnastic gym.... they would have been doing it some place else, ice scating, dancing. or where ever. Of being agressive in some unguided stupid path screwing up their lives.

Celebrate for them. They deserve the respect and celebration for their efforts

  • @coachgeo

are you trying to say that being a dancer or an ice-scater isn't that hard. well think again, i train 6 hours a day at a classical ballet acadamay and 8 hours on satuurday and 4 hours on sunday and your tellung me that that they wouldn't be there.

    thats bullshit

  • Comment removed

  • Needs a rewrite

    ----

The athletes in this vid are busting their arses to be their best. They chose to bust it in a gymnastic gym, others may chose, ice skating, dancing. orrr?. No matter where they would be aggressive AND emotional cause they are girls/woman. They WANT to do this deep down.

Celebrate for them. They deserve respect & celebration for efforts. What they learn here is better than street corners.

hope that gets my point across better.

  • ahhhhh.... this represents artistic gymnastics. Please stop talking as if "gymnastics" is a single word who's only meaning is artistic. That is an absolute SLAP in the face to all the other hard working gymnast who do NOT do artistic but have instead decided to do one of the other 3 gymnastic "disciplines"

Gymnastics is a term that represents FOUR different disciplines and it has ALLWAYS had elements used in the four disciplines (Artistic, Rhthymic, Acro, Tumble-Tramp)

  • Amazing video!

And the Audio: YouTube is an idiot

    copyrights sux! >:(

  • everyone knows what it is, but it is politically incorrect to say, "what we want to see", if it hurts it builds character, if it feels good it is bad. we're hypocrits especially with kids.

  • Children should be treated kindly, even when training for any sport.

  • umg what is happening of the volume

  • all of these video's make gymnastics seem like torture .

It's nothing close , despite the conditioning , and a few tears , gymnastics is amazing , and i wouldn't have ever traded the experience ! (:

  • @sftbalhunn98 yea but for these girls training is torture. if you see what they go through, like one i saw a vid of a girl having her leg pulled into such a high oversplit and she was sobbing and the lady who was pulling her leg was laughing her ass off. it was the most disturbing thing EVER.

  • gymnastics is not torture, it's an amazing sport. it's not even something that's a sport anymore to us, it's our way of life. its fun, it may hurt at times. but it's all worth it. when you stand on the podium with your medal, it's amazing. the pain is worth it, cause it's helping you get better at the sport.

  • omg 2:39

    This is torture :(

these poor children being mis treated like this makes me feel sick

  • stretching oversplits. fairly common in any gymnastic sport - that might ache a bit but other things (falling) hurt more! at least she had a short asian bloke, my coach was a f'off fat italian woman and when she sat/leaned on you while stretching.... haha, ouch. fun though - because you're doing it with mates.

  • wat is that guy doing to her in 0:34? That poor girl?

  • He's helping her stretch. My couch did that when I did gymnastics, exept I didn't try to puch my leg back, I gripped the mat VERY tight.

  • omg irember gymnastics, i cried a lt!

i mean i wasnt doing all the flips and stuff bc i was like 8,

    but i creid...

i could do flip flops, but it was still terriblee

  • omg!!!!

  • we do it for fun and ya we do have things wrong with us i brook my ankle and never gave it the right care so now i have a bad ankle that hearts to to anything pretty much but you just get used to it and live with it.

  • I can't believe those girls put their bodies through that kind of torture. You only get one body, one life, one chance and they will be spent by 30 at the latest and have bodily issues for the rest of their lives all for a stupid metal. Girls have died doing this stuff for no good reason. I don't get it...no offense meant, it just makes no sense to me to do that to yourself.

  • when iwas compeating, i felt like i was reaching for perfection, i was so close and some of us, we push ourselves so hard, we are willing to do anything to achieve the impossible, perfection.

  • cheergirlirox wow learn how to spell competing ! GOOOOSH

  • oh please leave her alone ?

dont u have anything better to do than comment on mistakes?? maybe u should read some books?

  • im a gymnast and ther r reason to y we do all this not because its like fun to do this to ourselfs like the pain and everything but to a gymnast its more of a life than a sport and its sumthing we could nvr imagine living without it.

  • I am no longer a gymnast, but I know why. In so much you have to push yourself to the limit and put your body at risk, but it is amazing. It's beyond a thrill, it's a passion. In every single passion there are risks.

  • does anyone know the name of the song

    that montage was excelent

in another montage a coach was saying '

wayy to fail and all that i hate it when the coaches do tht

its so discouraging to the girls

    but anyways great video

  • omg they are so mean my gymnastics trainer doesnt do anythimg mean to me and i am good to they push them way too hard!!!

  • Oh they made the lil girl cry

  • 加油~好好照顾身体喔~

    不要给自己太大压力啦~

  • wow on 0:34 she was in pain that guy was a jerk!

  • i kno!! my gym coaches do tht too. its terribbl and it hurts!!!

  • That's bad!!:(

  • i think johnyawuncar3 you should keep ur type of comments to yourself i dont know how old u r but grow up it happened sacramone went u cant change that you should be more reasonable when calling her fat coz shes far from it an there is enough eating disorders in this sport iam glad she has a normal womens shape shes a good role module......

  • i agree! she's amazing, she was just having an off day! it's a team thing and she was amazing! its awesome to have someone in the olympics who doesn't have an eating disorder! johnyawuncar3 is just a jerk and probably can't do half the stuff alicia can do, so johnyawuncar3 should just shove it!

  • thebestproducer1 iam dislexic so keep your comments to yourself thank you

  • im a 12-year-old gymnast and i appretiate you making a montage but i was wondering if u could make a montage of acrobatics because since acro isnt condered a sport the abuse of most acrobats goes far beyond what it should.

  • OMG at 0:34 you should NEVER push someone that far, that guy is a jerk, and he could seriously hurt her.

  • i kno how they feel partly im in gymnastics n some days it hurts really bad n other days not so bad

  • this is sad

  • wait why was gymnastics on CNN plz tell me and could u send me the link or whatever of the cnn thing PLZZZ

  • just type in "parkettes" into youtube and there should pop up a 4 of 5 segment documentary on it

  • you have to push through the pain . icant remmeber the last time i wasnt in pain.

  • The video and the song are wonderful, but the singer of the song is horrible!

  • agreed. That'll make your ears bleed!

  • i am a dancer and dont get me wrong dance is extremly hard people dont think that dancing isnt hard work and i have cried soo many tears from the pain and i have had injuries....(broken fingers, toes, ankles,,and hte worst knee caps.) it is thee best thing in the world(dancing)if you could please making a montage about dancing it would be the greates thing ever...they have dance montages but they arent in english and they are just about classical ballet..please please please thank you.....c.deni

  • i do gymnastics..yes it can hurt actually alot but to do it you have to be strong you have to have faith to what youre doing to yourself

  • I used to do gymnastics as a kid, and remember all the tears, and pain while stretching and stuff...

I am a dancer now. I take my hat off for those who carry on!

  • that is super sad i bet its verrryyy hard work

  • This video makes gymnastics seem sad and its not its really fun.

  • i love it. great song 4 it 2. good job

  • Can you tell me the name of the song please? I like it so much!

  • i would like 2 know also plz =)

  • i'm a dancer and i guess i don't understand quite the experiences that gymnasts go through. i really admire the fact that they have so much courage, strength, and motivation. it's truly amazing. this video shows that despite the injuries and despite the mistakes they keep trying. i think that's inspiring. good video. =]

  • ehm why you wanne hurt your self for the glory

  • I USED to do gymnastics. I mean competion after comeption and my coach ( no names ) she broke my leg. She pushed me dwn in splits and jumped on my back. snap. Havn't done it since/

  • Hey x,

This is so bad my mate is a gymnast and i am really scared that she will really badly hurt herself of die (i watched another video) how scary and some gymnasts look anerxic :S

  • Gymnastics is so tough, but it's really fun. I broke my arm so I can't compete at the moment and I'm really missing it!

  • whats the name of this song? i love it!

  • dont get me wrong - gymnastics is obviously dangerous, as are most sports - but most of the falls look like they hurt a lot worse than they actually do. gymnasts are trained to fall the right way so there's less chance of getting seriously injured.

  • this is kinda sexist. no mens gymnastics?

  • thats not true men can do gymnastics my friends little brother does it. he says it fun i you are a guy look around for it you might enjoy it

  • i am a gymnast im saying she should have added mens to this montage its like s/hes saying only womens gymnastics is hard

  • Gymnastics=Hard

  • This sport is getting ridiculously dangerous. I'll let my kid learn a round-off, back handspring, back tuck and then she's outta the sport and onto soccer, tennis, volleyball--something safer. This sport is waaayyyy more risky then the aforementioned.

  • at 2:40 talk about pain i remember when we had streach like that it hurt like heck

  • if gymnastics was easy it would be called football

  • I'm not sure this is a valid argument. My gymnastic buddies were having a conversation about this. It's kind of like comparing golf to skateboarding, they are completely different. But, you're right, gymnastics is one, probably the, toughest sport.

  • haha, that's what we say about ballet. "If ballet was easy it would be called football." and we also say that "Dancers are tougher than football players." Its soooo true.

  • full of pushy parents and child cruelty

  • wow, i never thought gymnastics was such a waste of time

  • Ouch!!!!!!!! Its has to be done softly so they have some interest for it, but not hurt them so much!!!!!!

  • is not easy Gymnastics...

  • What we do to these little girls in the persuit of glory is inrepresensible. I love gymnatstics. Always have. Wanted to be one. This isn't what i dreamt. It's a nightmare.

  • that's kinda crule

  • this is awesome. the gymnasts still go threw all this pain and hardship because they truely do love th sport. they are all winners in my eyes. they all totaly completly inspire meh!

  • i think, it's quiet goooooooooood!

and what meens "the other side"?

    I do gymnastics, too.

    there's no "other side" !!!!!!!

  • some people do montages where the gymnasts are doing well in training and meets but this is about the hard work etc..

  • If they really loved Gymnastics they would deal with that stuff that made hem cry

p.s. usually they dont cry for just that!

  • OH MY... stop cry little babies!!!!!!!!!

  • if gymnastics was esay it would be called football!!!!!!

    and it is true

  • nowadays we see kids from all over the world saying "i am going to the olympics" i don't criticize them but they just don't c that it takes more then wanting to be a good gymnast!

  • has anyone seen another gymnast video that uses this song what is its full name? i stupidly forgot to add it to my favourites and now i can't find it

  • I was in a youth circus, we performed all the acts a professional circus did, and I did this from the time I was 6 all the way up into my twenty's, it hurt and a huge sacrifice, but i loved it, If my kids wanted to do this, it's their choice all i can do is be here when they decide it's to hard.

  • what happened to girls like nicole harris and annie fogerty?

  • i dont know about annie but nicole went to do college gymnastics but i think shes quit because she said it was to hard on her body

  • i know how it hurts, i do this sport 12 years, but i like it, u must forgot how it hurts and pain :)

    beatiful sport...

  • I just think thats so sad, especially Asian countries fear train children into gymnastics. They have about 100 5 year olds that can do the splits, backflips, the works, but they're just cast out for those whose fingers are held closer together. It's awful.

  • For any Americans here, this is called SACRIFICE and DETERMINATION to be the best. This is what you have to go through. If nobody went through this, there would be no elite gymnasts. Statistically it's probably no more dangerous than any other highly physical sport.

  • this video is sooo mean. how can people torture young children and be so horid to them. In my gymnastics we deffo do not do training this hard

  • At my gym club they trained you hard, but it wasn't verging on abuse. At least we had a choice, if you didn't want to go through the pain; you didn't go to the training but i suspect those young 5 year old girls didn't have a choice. It's terrible.

  • I honestly agree so much

  • i understand that they might wanna make them qualify for the olympics but you dont have to train so hard

  • the other side of gymnastics?

this is the only side i ever saw.

  • i hate how crul people can be and if u agree with wat i put then replay

  • ya ya ya............. we all know that you are just trying to convince us all not to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and im in gymnastics and i know that SOMETIMES IT HURTS.

  • gymnastics is not torture!!and it's not pointless.

It's up to the gymnast whether or he/she stays.Gymnastic is not an easy sport and it's not for everyone.

it hard for "some people" to understand the effort and dedication gymnastics put into their work to reach their goals....

    gymnast rule!!!!!!!!!

  • yh deffo

  • It would take a truly pathetic human being to subject their children to this pointless and costly torture.

  • well in asia they take them away from their parents when there toddlers and force them to train

  • Believe me, I would rather watch soccer, but my daughter is a talented gymnast and it is like breathing to her. I will support her choice, it is not my dream but rather hers. If she chose to play soccer tomorrow, we are there! But I admire the sacrifice and dedication these young athletes make to reach their goals. It will reward them in their adult lives in instilling faith, discipline, and dedication. If a child does not love it, they should not be forced to do it.

  • I cant understand how they do it I mean Im a gymnast but I only train 10 hours a week not 10 hours a day Its really amazing!!

  • I am a level 7 gymnast I train 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, and on Saturday we train for four hours, so 16 hours a week

  • :O OMG You have to be really good !! keep it up ;-)

  • i know, what it means to be in training 6 hurs a week( im gymnastic myself)

it´s so hard. There´s nobody there to look after you, if you fall.

They don´t wanna see your pain, your tears, they just wanna see a perfect performance.

  • they should not be working these kids to the point of tears and its the worst in china i saw this thing on cnn about them. these are the kids who go to the olympics and mess up because there so nervous about messing up its never going to work

  • true.

there is a point where hard working is changing into child abuse. if you see them crying and you see that they actually don't want to continue. it's just wrong.

  • oh my god, what are they doing to that poor girl in 00:34??
