  • WTF?!?!?!?!

  • We can not spend money we dont have on products we dont need. Especially not on entertainment allready paid for by product placement and propaganda. I believe I have the right to study what our culture is bombarded with and choose what i want to endorse afterwards. Let ideas, information and knowlege be free to evolve for the better of man kind, not the bank account of overgrown corporations. Starv those evil corrupted bastards to death.

  • @Henkera Are you saying to pirate movies? If you pirate movies, it still sends a message that a movie is liked... If you really want to starve, movie studios for example, don't use or get any off their content. Otherwise, you are saying their stuff is good and people want it.

  • @8jwong14 Im saying theres nothing wrong to find out if a product is worth buying by downloading it, especially when advertising is manipulative.

  • @Henkera In some cases, it is reasonable to try out a game if a demo is available. But this is not often the case. For example, Crysis 2 was recently released. It has a demo. Yet it has 4000 seeds. Those people did not download the game to try it but rather to play it in its entirety. There are some good pirates and some bad pirates. There are black witches and white witches. Sadly, the evil overshadows the good. For movies, their are trailers. Most big software companies have trials.

  • @Henkera I'm only against pirating of content that should be paid for. I don't how advertising is manipulative in some cases especially with games like Portal 2 or Crysis 2.

The good pirates are a minority. My friend used to be a pirate of all stuff he wanted. Now, I was able to persuade him to actually get the game. He recently, purchased Portal 2 after trying the demo.

  • @8jwong14 If the product is something youd want to see in your ideal society then theres nothing wrong to pay or get paid for it. sounds like you friend is from somalia though.

  • @Henkera Somalia? What gave you that idea?

  • @Henkera Oh right. The pirates of Somalia. I'll tone it down a bit. My friend used to pirate content (not the seas) especially with games.

  • Ha, i loved it.

  • You can go left into a game store, you can go right into a game store or you can go straight to The Pirate Bay. I love those guys and they shouldn't be punished whatsoever. As Peter explains, it's plain bullshit.

  • @Nlmichiej You loved TPB because they satisfy all your cheapskate needs?

  • Except for the fact they specialize in torrents and have trackers, which are not illegal, they are more similar to Google. They only offer a platform, which is not illegal by itself. The entire Internet is a platform. What's next? Shutting down the entire Internet for the mere presence of illegal activities? That's just crazy. What happens after that? Total social control or in other words fascism? Do we accept this? Have courage and refuse to surrender.

  • @petervandriell They are not only targeted for being a platform for torrents which is not legal. Rather, their platform is used almost exclusively for pirating. If people downloaded legal torrents like a Ubuntu distro and other free stuff, torrents would have better name as a system to share ideas, and information to benefit ALL.

Anyway, guilty by association. The best thing to say against them is that they openly support pirating paid content. They don't say to not support pirating.

  • @petervandriell When companies send them requests to take down their material, TPB has a children in their legal team insulting those companies. They don't say they are not supporters of pirating and are instead a platform for information and idea distribution. No. Their name says they support pirating almost to the point of exclusivity. As you said, torrents are not illegal. Trackers aren't illegal. But openly supporting and faiclitying it is the main problem.

  • @petervandriell A world where everything was shared is a perfect world. It would be socialist. If everythign in the world was shared and everyone benefited, things like piracy wouldn't be bad. A perfect would could be one with socialism and democracy. People will share all things. In Sweden, high taxes are good because they go into welfare and other good stuff. I think that Sweden has lenient copyright laws largely due them having many socialist elements. Greed causes many problems.

  • @petervandriell From what I know from my Global History teacher, most people in Sweden pay high taxes but get welfare and many other benefits. The society is more egalitarian especially since most of the population is in the middle class and *0% are in worker unions. Supporting piracy is almost supporting Socialism. Then again, many people don't care about such wide and broad matters. Many people, sadly, just pirate for their own sake of personal gain/

  • @8jwong14 There is no particular reason that personal gain wouldnt be able to have the moral higher ground over commercial gain.

  • can't stop laughing, great vid :))

  • ftw

  • I lol'd

  • Awesome, just awesome.

  • Torrent FTW!!!

  • pirate bay rocks they will never go away. their is always wim mx or mirc.

  • long live the pirate bay!

  • I believe another topic was about the name, since it inferred that "pirating" was going on. My take is that you can take Coca-Cola, change the name to "Rape" and people will still drink it. So as it goes, NAME HAS NOTHING TO WITH IT, AND YOU CAN"T WIN COURT CASES BY GUESSING AT WHAT SOMEONE DOES IN THEIR FREE TIME!!!!! END O' STORY :)

  • I do believe copyright infringement is WRONG, but the methods that are being used to apprehend these people are too ridiculous. I believe on day 3 of the trial, they were talking further on whether it's Pirate Bay's fault or the users fault. IT'S THE USERS FAULT. Torrents can be as easily found on Google as they are on The Pirate Bay, so why not prosecute Google as well!

  • You can use Gmail to send people child porn. Let's sue Google for that. 8P

  • And how would you know that you could do that with Gmail? x'D ^^

  • When Napster was blitzed, dozens of copycat sites and new p2p software applications were born. Even if TPB were to get stopped, you can safely bet there will be others and the software will get better and better. The industry and its ancient ways are dead. Long live p2p.

  • Problem is, if they loose, they will have to pay a huge amount of cash! (heard about 100millon)

feeling bad for the guys who made our lives easy and free. Feeling bad for the guys, im gonna donate some money.. hope each scrap helps.

    Hope every pirate contributes

  • $145,500

  • Create more torrents! Seed more files! Keep the BTC open longer! PIRATE BAY FTW!!!!

  • bah, no big deal if the piratebay gets shut down, I'll just start using Isohunt or google or something. I do feel sorry for the guys getting harassed by the companies and their henchemen calling themselves the authorities.

  • You do know ~40% of the torrents on Isohunt are supplied by Piratebay.

  • Holy Crap

  • Take it easy. If they lose will not The Pirate Bay shut down the server. For the server is not in Sweden anymore

  • true, I suppose they'll just move the server somewhere else :O

  • what does "kopimi" mean?

  • KOP-I-MI

    COP-Y ME

  • oh ok thanks...i get it now

  • nice one :)

  • Pretty funny, I hope The Pirate Bay doesn't get shut down. I'd hate to have to go back to ripping rentals.

  • lol
