  • they are really cool. a praying mantis lived on my bike for a few weeks because i was too afraid of it to move him. then his girlfriend moved in with him (on my bike). and even when they started mating they would move from on the top of the bike seat to underneath the seat whenever it was about to rain even if there wasn't a cloud in the sky. they were my little barometers for a few weeks there. very cool stuff.

  • @MrChattyO a mantis never ever attacks something that it knows it can't eat/kill

  • @mcennis4545

Ive seen small mantids attack cats . Also frogs that are much much larger and heavier.

  • I would like to toss a thousand of these in my neighbor's yard which he turned into a heavy garden. After 30 years suddenly there's a noisy frog back there and grasshoppers ready to devastate any consumable garden vegetables or herbs around.

  • I have had to spook these things off the hummingbird feeder before. they are spookily smart. I mean to know to sit at the feeder for a hummingbird. Almost felt bad kicking it of but my mother was having a fit "Don't let that damn bug eat MY hummingbirds!!!" lol XD

  • Jesus loves you and cares for you!!! message me if you have any questions about God!!!

  • nice. I caught two mantis in my day. They are cool. They are easy to keep, just feed them

  • Most pets require some kind of feeding.

  • @TheBulap No disrespect..Bit that's redundant..

  • The closest thing I've seen to a praying mantis in real life was a stick bug.

  • I've seen plenty of mantis, but I've never seen a stick bug

  • @R0KURU Dude stick bugs are awesome. The first time i saw one was on my front door just sitting there.

  • i wonder are they easy to keep as pets?

  • I saw a praying mantis at work one time. It was on a wall and it moved so carefully, its legs stretching out little by little as it moved. I was mesmerized by how careful and graceful they are. It was the first time I had ever seen one. Then some idiot (a co-worker) killed it for no reason. We watched it move for about 5 minutes then out of no where, he kills it. I will never forget the elegance of it though, they are facinating creatures!

  • agree mantis are one of the most beautiful and imo best insects they camouflage nicely they can fend of some pretty nasty insects like hornets spiders and such not when in a friggin bowl in the open field -,-, they got most chance of winning if theyre in grass i managed to catch one a few weeks ago called him snyder :P so far hes doing good got some nice tips from pet shop and stuff

  • You can get them as pets pretty easily, I have one, they are great fun to look after, and relatively east

  • your co-worker is a dick. You know they are endangered and that is a fine of like $500 right? They might not be endangered any more, but I think they are. I hate people like that

  • @Code9aa Thats illegal here in Ohio.

  • @Code9aa yes they are, saw one near my house a couple of weeks ago, i like them ago BUT their eyes are kinda creepy, the one i saw was yellow, pretty weird

  • @Inferi2000 during the day their eyes are green but at night are red thats somenthing like infrared i had one of this like a pet for like a 1 year but i got another one and i put it on the same cage and 2 hours later i check the cage the new one eat my pet but this are very nice insects//

  • @Code9aa i love them if i was at ur job chances are i would have sucker punched ur co-worker like nothing

  • @Code9aa sack him if you get promoted to boss

  • @Code9aa were you angry at ur co-workers? I would had yelled at him for doing that.

  • I am glad a mantis left an impression on you, too many people do what your co-worker did. They are harmless to humans therefor we shouldn't harm them.

  • @tmouse86 shouldn't lol, its illegal to kill them :)

  • @Code9aa fuck that guy!

  • @Code9aa their lethal capabilities and elegance is why the chinese developed a martial art based on their movements. if you've never seen someone perform mantis kung fu, it's really cool to watch. they are fascinating creatures.

  • @Code9aa That's when I would take my pen and stabe the co-worker and say "How does it feel bitch!!?!?!"

  • @xinic5 And I'd love to see you get put in prison for stabbing someone over a cannibalistic bug. F***ing idiot.

  • @encycl07pedia Oh, prison. I can rap other guys there!

  • @Code9aa your co worker is a jerk. they are harmless.

  • @Code9aa

same thing but at my school and i asked the kid y he killed it and he said it was dangerous ... all i could do was *facepalm*

  • @Code9where i live, its illegal to kill praying mantis',ive held them and have seen them in my yard all the time,so far ive found like 20 of them

  • i'm afraid of each insect and most i'm afraid of locusts and praying mantis. The only insects i'm not afraid are spiders

  • Comment removed

  • did you know a spider is not an insect. it's an arachnid

  • @XenaFan4eva no wonder you're not afraid of spiders because they're not insects

  • @XenaFan4eva Spiders aren't insects.

  • did you knew that matisses dont kill their prey before they eat? they eat their preys them allive!! thats gotta hurt... thats why i dont like mantisses, im afraid of them :(

  • Locusts, along with most insects, don't have nerve endings, and thus, can't feel any pain, so no, it doesn't hurt

  • @EmpKazbar

Wow, never knew most insects didn't feel pain.

  • @pikacunut ofc they do you loser

  • @oflamemakero

Actually, it is unknown whether or not most insects truly feel pain, you loser.

  • @pikacunut I think they feel pain because you have to. If you don't feel pain, you can't handle a dangerous situation.

  • @doenervich

Feeling pain is very complicated. It is actually unknown whether or not something like an insect can. And they can handle a situation without pain.

  • @EmpKazbar

So i can stap a needle frew its ass and it wont fell it? Kewl :3

  • @EmpKazbar they do feel pain they just cant express it you dumb fuck

  • @EmpKazbar what about crickets?i lwys feed my mantises crikets, dragonflys, grasshoppers, moths, and sometimes they manage to eat each oter cuz i let them ot to explore my room easy to find though the always go up

  • @EmpKazbar Still gotta ruin your whole day...

  • @EmpKazbar Imagine that death....."WHOA! Are you eating me? Shit......well, ive lived for a good 36 hours. Im coming mom and dad.....whoever you are!"

  • @EmpKazbar so there basically they're zombies!?!??

  • @EmpKazbar But mantis does, I remember when an ant bites his hand and he bites/cuts off his hand.

  • @EmpKazbar Thats good to know, I had actually never read that before. Once in a while I think of the billions of insects killed daily worldwide, wondering about the unfairness of the life of a bug, it just didn't seem right!

  • @EmpKazbar TY Lord!

  • that would be soo funny if it was gow locust

  • ya there awsome creatures leo gecko and might get a praying mantis. aws vid

  • great animal to eat!

  • I remember when i saw a mantis. I had a bullshit friend who said they spit this stuff on you that makes you go blind. They're really cool creatures. They're not stupid, like most bugs. They actually look at you and,yeah...

I saw one in my backyard. The net day i found him dead :(

I don't know what to say about how smart they(as you've noticed). But i know that there pretty damn smart.

  • Has that guy ever gotten laid in his life?

  • @stevenabb Chicks love the Mantis

  • ......It killed him deaaad.....

  • lol i was climbing a tree once i came back down, and there was one on my shoulder...i screamed like a girl and ran inside

  • omg it blends in with da leaves on dat plant. nice

  • that one is a great color

  • i just found out my biggest fear ewewe i didn't now they could turn there heads

  • I used to have a collection of them when I was a kid until they all died in my critter cage =[ they're the coolest friendliest fellas, except to their own kind lol

  • dude i have a brown one its so scary and a green one its really small

  • lmao! my garden is full of em but i dont like em theyre creepy lolz

  • if its trying to eat the male it means they already mated

  • So where is the VS part? All i see is feeding.

  • i want one

  • Praying Mantis are awesome! =D

  • I have a pet praying mantis...well I have two, We have had the boy for about a month now, but we keep them separated (because the female keeps trying to eat the male.)

  • Mate them by having the male on your left hand and the female on your right///// have your male over the back of your female and let him leap on the female and mate :)

  • there is a big population of Praying Mantis on my balcony Garden. One evening the light was one, and a lot of bees were flying around it. Praying mantis was siting right on top of it, on the branch of a small tree, and tried to catch those. Interesting creatures
