they are really cool. a praying mantis lived on my bike for a few weeks because i was too afraid of it to move him. then his girlfriend moved in with him (on my bike). and even when they started mating they would move from on the top of the bike seat to underneath the seat whenever it was about to rain even if there wasn't a cloud in the sky. they were my little barometers for a few weeks there. very cool stuff.
I have a pet pray mantis the sweetest insect i have ever seen..we tried to let her go but she followed us back to the house and crawled all over me.. I'm her mama
i have a pet one they truly are a beautiful bug snd now pet i feed him bees daily hes healthy as an ox and elegant as a ballerina graceful yet deadly O.o
The Mantis has to be one of the most insane insects! They are fiesty too! Ever pick one up? I was trying to put it back in the tree it was near and it hopped on my face!
I would like to toss a thousand of these in my neighbor's yard which he turned into a heavy garden. After 30 years suddenly there's a noisy frog back there and grasshoppers ready to devastate any consumable garden vegetables or herbs around.
I have had to spook these things off the hummingbird feeder before. they are spookily smart. I mean to know to sit at the feeder for a hummingbird. Almost felt bad kicking it of but my mother was having a fit "Don't let that damn bug eat MY hummingbirds!!!" lol XD
I saw a praying mantis at work one time. It was on a wall and it moved so carefully, its legs stretching out little by little as it moved. I was mesmerized by how careful and graceful they are. It was the first time I had ever seen one. Then some idiot (a co-worker) killed it for no reason. We watched it move for about 5 minutes then out of no where, he kills it. I will never forget the elegance of it though, they are facinating creatures!
agree mantis are one of the most beautiful and imo best insects they camouflage nicely they can fend of some pretty nasty insects like hornets spiders and such not when in a friggin bowl in the open field -,-, they got most chance of winning if theyre in grass i managed to catch one a few weeks ago called him snyder :P so far hes doing good got some nice tips from pet shop and stuff
your co-worker is a dick. You know they are endangered and that is a fine of like $500 right? They might not be endangered any more, but I think they are. I hate people like that
@Code9aa yes they are, saw one near my house a couple of weeks ago, i like them ago BUT their eyes are kinda creepy, the one i saw was yellow, pretty weird
@Inferi2000 during the day their eyes are green but at night are red thats somenthing like infrared i had one of this like a pet for like a 1 year but i got another one and i put it on the same cage and 2 hours later i check the cage the new one eat my pet but this are very nice insects//
I am glad a mantis left an impression on you, too many people do what your co-worker did. They are harmless to humans therefor we shouldn't harm them.
@Code9aa their lethal capabilities and elegance is why the chinese developed a martial art based on their movements. if you've never seen someone perform mantis kung fu, it's really cool to watch. they are fascinating creatures.
did you knew that matisses dont kill their prey before they eat? they eat their preys them allive!! thats gotta hurt... thats why i dont like mantisses, im afraid of them :(
