I do believe there should be a one week waiting period and they need to be registered. But it is a fact that most crimes with guns are un registered. Maybe there are other ways to protect your country without resorting to handing out guns for anyone who wants it.
I referred to New York because its a huge tourist attraction and very popular, and I noted the crime rate as a whole not just gun crimes.

I am not a symbol of anything. I just think that a system should be in place. I am not going to come on here and quote statistics like yourself. No one in Canada lost their firearms. They simply need to register them. I'm not saying that the gun registry in Canada is working. What I'm saying is that it's an honest effort. Much better than doing NOTHING for fear of losing the NRA vote!!

Shryley, what system? And yes, citizens in Canada lost their guns because of the system in place. The weapons not registered could cost someone 10yrs in prison. It is NOT an honest effort since it was proposed as costing taxpayers $2M but it is approaching $1Billion and still doesn't work. Again, u don't like facts but thrive on your feelings. Oh Shryley, Since u a Canadian, did the crime rate drop after your Gov't took the firearms away from law abiding citizens? Since 1998, homocide rates decreased in the US by 33% while in Canada they increased 3%. Areas in this country with strict gun laws have higher than average crime rates simply because criminals don't obey laws AND citizens can't defend themselves. Unfortunately facts mean nothing to u, just how you feel about something you don't understand.
