Being that I am from Calgary, Alberta and watching these guys practice, listening to them before they were even on stage in Steve's Garage in 1969 wellllll this brings back goooooooodd memories. In this garage is where they baked colors on their guitars (AXES) as they called them. Randy was and still is my favorite person, I loved being on the back of his motorbike ridin' in the rain on a sunny summer day. *-* AWESOME MEMORIES*-* :) YESSSS!!!!
Does anyone remember Outdoor Canadian Festival circa 1970-1971 near Ottawa where these guys headlined? ( I have an excuse for not remembering grew up in 60s -Wink Ha Ha Ha) Cmon survivors My good old friend Pete Gueat there with me + we dated Sisters Diane + Carol Thibeaux Did Acid 1st time Whew What a gas to be young!!
I ran into the one guy at the White Spot restaurant on 32 ave n in Calgary...he goes there at least once a week..it was great meeting a childhood idol....i didnt know they were still in calgary
most of the good bands from back in the day were canadian...the record companies tried to hide that fact thinking americans wouldn't buy it otherwise...as well alot of them had to relocate to the states in order to get deals done...
hey jibjub80 I just bought a cd of thers in walmart ! it is just titled stampeders and has a a steer scull on the cover it is a best of deal and has all the good old ones i grew up listening too in Calgary as a kid good luck!
@MrCboy63, I checked your profile. You're in Canada, right? The Stampeders was a Canadian rock band. I live in the US. So I'm not sure where I could obtain a copy. What do you think??
@twoexplorers The problem is, I do not believe in using a credit card over the internet. I knew someone who got hacked this way. I believe you have to provide that info to use amazon.com, which I won't do. I like to pay the old fashioned way (with a money order). Hahahaha
@Jibjub80 Why not buy it from their official website? Even if you are scammed with a credit card who the hell cares? That's what a chargeback is for..
Went to buy some chocolate cake at Safeway in Calgary and met Ronnie King!!;super nice person, talked to him for several minutes, and he told me The Stampeders will be playing together this summer;so if you want to see them check on-line for dates and places. He gave me his autograph and shook my hand goodbye.
I LOVE THIS SONG. reminds me of my mom. she played there tunes all the time when i was little. on a different note. these good ole boys are from my home town an i ve meet each 1. and got all there autographs. great guys really down to earth...
Hey trippletrippleh's !!!! You have GREAT taste in music. This is such an underrrated Canadian band! I grew up with the Stampeders and I think they need more exposure to the new generation! :)
One of the first bands I saw as a young teen as well....Grand Falls, NL......I loved them then and still do. The other popular touring band of the time was April Wine which I also love to this day.
How about never, there are better Canadian bands then Nickelback, even as we speak. When they can actually learn to write songs that don't all sound alike then we can talk.
Saw them in '76 at the CNE. They opened for the Beach Boys. If you were there you witnessed history. That fat guy behind the piano was Brian Wilson. One of the very few concerts he actually preformed at since the mid 60s. Oh, Wolfman Jack introduced the bands.
massey hall in toronto 1975 they played this song. a great time'''

@Jibjub80 Try Amazon.ca, and go to Canadian Music. I'll bet you won't just stop at the Stampeders. Edward Bear, Luba, The Guess Who, BTO etc., etc.

do not belong on the list, not yet anyway.

Before Geddy Lee and Neal Pert post
(Ha) Rush belongs somewhere around
the 5 or 6 slot indeed.
17865329 2 years ago
It's a hard list to make but here's a try:
1. The Band (though Helm's from Arkansas)
2. The Guess Who, can't deny their
legacy.
3. Tragically Hip (High quality rock)
4. BTO-pedestrian at times but powerful
5. April Wine; -slightly underrated IMO
Then it's a scramble, Trooper, Loverboy,
Stamps, Lighthouse, Honeymoon Suite, 54-40, Doug and the Slugs, etc etc.
Probably missing some post 80's bands of note maybe.
17865329 2 years ago

Sure, they could be in the conversation,
couple very good albums, and several
decent singles.
17865329 1 year ago
They(Stampeders) probably land
somewhere around 7th or 8th on the
list of all-time Canadian bands, but it's
of course HIGHLY subjective. Some would put them higher, some outside
the top 10.
