  • This song always reminds me of good times back in the early 70s, when the world was a much better place to live.

  • @Cheessa it is a great old song but somehow you have a slanted memory of those days as I remember them to actuality have been awful, but whatever.

  • Canada in the early 70's post Expo 67, a new flag and beating the Russians in '72. On our way!

  • I took my son to see them a few years ago, I got autographs and a kiss from the guys :)

  • I can just imagine soldiers serving in Vietnam listening to this song at the time.

  • saw hem play at a local hotel called the Barclay in downtown Welland in 1971.. great song and group of guys to party with

  • most of the good bands from back in the day were canadian...the record companies tried to hide that fact thinking americans wouldn't buy it otherwise...as well alot of them had to relocate to the states in order to get deals done...

  • @75rmc75 saw them at the old Barclay hotel in downtown Welland, Ont. in 1971 great songs and great group of guys.. and free other then a drink...

  • hey jibjub80 I just bought a cd of thers in walmart ! it is just titled stampeders and has a a steer scull on the cover it is a best of deal and has all the good old ones i grew up listening too in Calgary as a kid good luck!

  • @MrCboy63, I checked your profile. You're in Canada, right? The Stampeders was a Canadian rock band. I live in the US. So I'm not sure where I could obtain a copy. What do you think??

    Jim

  • @Jibjub80 Try Amazon.ca, and go to Canadian Music. I'll bet you won't just stop at the Stampeders. Edward Bear, Luba, The Guess Who, BTO etc., etc.

  • @twoexplorers The problem is, I do not believe in using a credit card over the internet. I knew someone who got hacked this way. I believe you have to provide that info to use amazon.com, which I won't do. I like to pay the old fashioned way (with a money order). Hahahaha

  • @Jibjub80 You can always order a copy ,,,just go to your nearest record store and I'm sure that can be done for you,,,,,Good Luck ;)

  • Could someone please tell me where I could PURCHASE this CD? I would like to still be able to listen to this song if youtube ever pulls this video.

  • @Jibjub80 Why not buy it from their official website? Even if you are scammed with a credit card who the hell cares? That's what a chargeback is for..

  • I am IN LOVE with this song. I could listen to it 30 times in one day and not be tired of it. It was WAY underrated.

  • seen them in Bonavista,Newfoundland on July 31. Always a fan of theirs and thought they were awesome.Excellent time!

  • seen them in Orillia Ontario at the "high" schools...........crawled Home afterwards!!

  • i always wanted to know who sang this!! thanks :)

  • Hey, I saw these guys in Palmerston, Ontario back in the 70's. They almost blew the roof off the building! I still love their songs.

  • Went to buy some chocolate cake at Safeway in Calgary and met Ronnie King!!;super nice person, talked to him for several minutes, and he told me The Stampeders will be playing together this summer;so if you want to see them check on-line for dates and places. He gave me his autograph and shook my hand goodbye.

  • Hey trippletrippleh's !!!! You have GREAT taste in music. This is such an underrrated Canadian band! I grew up with the Stampeders and I think they need more exposure to the new generation! :)

  • Here I am again listening to this song. Love it.

  • Great anti war song.

  • soo good live saw them yesterday

  • They actuall imo are inferior

to the band they "mentored" Theory of

    A Deadman.

  • The Stampeders are doing a free concert in downtown Edmonton on July 18, 2009

  • 17865329....I totally agree with your Canadian bands list. Excellent choices.

  • One of the first bands I saw as a young teen as well....Grand Falls, NL......I loved them then and still do. The other popular touring band of the time was April Wine which I also love to this day.

  • *****

  • No before someone asks, Nickelback

do not belong on the list, not yet anyway.

  • How about never, there are better Canadian bands then Nickelback, even as we speak. When they can actually learn to write songs that don't all sound alike then we can talk.

  • Before Geddy Lee and Neal Pert post

    (Ha) Rush belongs somewhere around

the 5 or 6 slot indeed.

  • It's a hard list to make but here's a try:

    1. The Band (though Helm's from Arkansas)

    2. The Guess Who, can't deny their

    legacy.

    3. Tragically Hip (High quality rock)

    4. BTO-pedestrian at times but powerful

    5. April Wine; -slightly underrated IMO

Then it's a scramble, Trooper, Loverboy,

Stamps, Lighthouse, Honeymoon Suite, 54-40, Doug and the Slugs, etc etc.

Probably missing some post 80's bands of note maybe.

  • deep purple should be on their somewhere

  • I believe they call the British Isles their

    home.

  • Chilliwack?

  • Sure, they could be in the conversation,

couple very good albums, and several

    decent singles.

  • They(Stampeders) probably land

somewhere around 7th or 8th on the

list of all-time Canadian bands, but it's

of course HIGHLY subjective. Some would put them higher, some outside

    the top 10.

  • my 1st concert,,,was 14ys old...St John's nl...great band....in hindsite,,,as good as anything out there

  • Excellent band,so is the football team-lol

  • A-Quality stuff.

    Thanks.

  • Saw them in '76 at the CNE. They opened for the Beach Boys. If you were there you witnessed history. That fat guy behind the piano was Brian Wilson. One of the very few concerts he actually preformed at since the mid 60s. Oh, Wolfman Jack introduced the bands.

  • saw them in 2006 AND IN 2007 THEY STILL ROCK

  • Me too was it in Brampton?

  • seen them live in concert while in h s guess it was late 72 early 73 they gave a great show
