This is back in the day when soaps were still good; when soaps made sense; when fewer morons who call themselves writers were trying to write the storylines. Back then, ATWT always kept me on the edge of my seat. I miss those days!
With Helen Wagner's memorial they didn't even dedicate the show in her memory. It was so lame. Just a sad example of what the show became......unwatchable.
Lindsay Frost as Betsy - one of the better lookalike recasts in soap history (actors hired simply because of a strong resemblance to their predecessors usually aren't very good).
We can only hope that ATWT will give Helen Wagner the send off that they gave to Don McLaughlin. Helen deserves the same since she was the heart and soul of ATWT since the beginning. RIP Helen you will be greatly missied!
It is rare that soaps today would honor the passing of a character or an actor-actress the way ATWT paid its loving tribute to Don McLaughlin back in 1986, as seen here. How TPTB handled Ben Hendrickson's passing (Hal) a few years ago was the perfect example. Y&R's recent ('09) and thoughtfully produced episodes over the passing of Brad Carlton was an exception.
Ben Hendrickson's passing deserved a much better observance than ATWT gave him, as did Hal, who left behind at least half a canvas of mourners. I don't think they even bothered to show flashbacks. Barbara and Margo were short changed the most when that happened.
Ambrose disappeared into the attic with that little Martin kid on AMC.

@alliesoph Actually Ambrose died and left Jane a widow, as did the actor who played him.
