@4234123 I am unsure. I thought it might be the Queen Mother's mother, seeing as the King's mother is sitting on the opposite side to Princess Elizabeth. But the Queen Mother's mother died in 1938, so that obviously isn't right. I have no idea, really. A relative of Prince Philip's, perhaps?

@reelsarency @4234123 it's Prince Philip's grandmother, Victoria Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven - his mother's mother. She died in 1950 and probably knew Queen Mary very well, since she was the 1st cousin of her husband, King George V - his father King Edward VII and Victoria's mother, Princess Alice, were siblings, children of Queen Victoria.

@reelsarency I think it's Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone. She went on to live until about 1980, was in her 90s at least when she died, and would have been one of the very senior royals when Princess Ann was born.

I'm pretty sure that's the Dowager Marchioness of Milford Haven, who was Prince Philip's maternal grandmother, and so a great-grandmother of Prince Charles.

@reelsarency I believe that is Princess Marie Louise, daughter of Princess Helena who was a middle daughter of Queen Victoria. She attended all royal events. She lived until 1956, and wrote a very good book called My Memories of Six Reigns. Try to get a copy if you can.

The Queen Mother's mother died in 1938. She famously wore white mourning designed by Cecil Beaton to the 1938 state visit to Paris because of the death.

@reelsarency I think you're on the right track. Obviously, one would think the woman sitting to then-Princess Elizabeth's left is Queen Mary, the woman to the right must be of some relationship to Queen Mary. There's a slight resemblance; then again, resemblances can deceive.
