@4234123 the woman sitting next to the princess is her paternal grandmother her majesty queen mary of teck.she was the wife of king george the %th and yaught queen elizabeth much of wat she knows about being a monarch.
Does anyone know who the man third from the right at 0:31 is? I am assuming that the man second from right is British Prime Minister Clement Attlee, and that the girl at the right is a young Princess Maragaret.
That "woman" beside Queen Elizabeth all in black is the mother of Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI (Bertie) and David, King Edward, who abdicated. Her name was Queen Mary, the wife of King George V, Queen Elizabeth's grandfather.
Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana were such AMAZING mothers! I am very sure Cate will be just the same :) Prince Philip was so handsome and Queen Elizabeth was gorgeous!
@4234123 I am unsure. I thought it might be the Queen Mother's mother, seeing as the King's mother is sitting on the opposite side to Princess Elizabeth. But the Queen Mother's mother died in 1938, so that obviously isn't right. I have no idea, really. A relative of Prince Philip's, perhaps?
@reelsarency@4234123 it's Prince Philip's grandmother, Victoria Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven - his mother's mother. She died in 1950 and probably knew Queen Mary very well, since she was the 1st cousin of her husband, King George V - his father King Edward VII and Victoria's mother, Princess Alice, were siblings, children of Queen Victoria.
hope you got all the info, my reply was pretty long :)
@reelsarency I think it's Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone. She went on to live until about 1980, was in her 90s at least when she died, and would have been one of the very senior royals when Princess Ann was born.
I'm pretty sure that's the Dowager Marchioness of Milford Haven, who was Prince Philip's maternal grandmother, and so a great-grandmother of Prince Charles.
@reelsarency I believe that is Princess Marie Louise, daughter of Princess Helena who was a middle daughter of Queen Victoria. She attended all royal events. She lived until 1956, and wrote a very good book called My Memories of Six Reigns. Try to get a copy if you can.
The Queen Mother's mother died in 1938. She famously wore white mourning designed by Cecil Beaton to the 1938 state visit to Paris because of the death.
@reelsarency Ah I just checked. It is not Princess Marie Louise ( I was wrong), but Princess Victoria. Prince Philips Grandmother, and daughter of Princess Alice, the second oldest daughter of Queen Victoria. She was Marchioness of Milford Haven, as someone said.
@reelsarency The Marchioness of Milford Haven- prev Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine. Grandmother of Prince Philip and Grandaughter of Queen Victoria b 1863 d 1950. married Prince Louis of Battenberg - had 4 children, George Milford Haven, Louis Mountbatten of Burma, Princess Alice of Greece and Queen Louise of Sweden.
@reelsarency I think you're on the right track. Obviously, one would think the woman sitting to then-Princess Elizabeth's left is Queen Mary, the woman to the right must be of some relationship to Queen Mary. There's a slight resemblance; then again, resemblances can deceive.
@reelsarency I think it's Prince Phillip's grandmother, the Marchioness of Milford Haven. She was also Louis Mountbatten's mother. At least it looks like a portrait I've seen of her when she was older.
@4234123 It 's The Duke of Edinburgh grand mother, Prinzessin Victoria von Hesse und durch Rhein (5. April 1863 – 24. September 1950), she was The Queen Victoria 's granddaughter and lived in Kensington Palace again on her lives end.
@4234123 the woman sitting next to the princess is her paternal grandmother her majesty queen mary of teck.she was the wife of king george the %th and yaught queen elizabeth much of wat she knows about being a monarch.
@4234123 Victoria Marchioness of Milford Haven, earlier Princess Of Battenberg and born Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine. Granddaughter of Queen Victoria and grandmother of Prince Philip.
@itsyounadia I wanted to say the Dowagery Empress of Russia the second I saw her, there was something very stern, determined and Russian in her face - not necessarily genetic, but behavioral. The Marchioness of Milford Haven, the Princess Victoria it is indeed, sitting to the right of Princess Elizabeth, holding Prince Charles.
@ladyrohan80 maybe that's all trait is construct from her many tragic life experience, her mother dies when she still young, leaves her as family caregiver; her sisters murdered; her son die in relative young age.. btw, isn't she Queen Mary who sitting to the right of Princess Elizabeth, holding Prince Charles?
She is related to HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother... Sorry, but I am unsure what relation but it is most probably The Queen's grandmother on the Bowes-Lyon family. She is definately a Bowes-Lyon.
@4234123 It's Prince Philip's maternal grandmother the Dowager Marchioness of Milford Haven, who was born Princess Victoria of Hesse and the Rhine. So really she is related to both since Queen Victoria was her grandmother.

I love the part where they are dancing. I don't know why but it reminds me of The Sound Of Music and the Ball Scene.

@laminage I wonder if they still dance like that. Too bad those good old days when people danced decently are long gone.
