@1957pinup I think you are color blind or your monitor has terrible color resolution. There is no white guy on the left. They are all black. None of them are white, only thier outfits.
SURREAL SOUND: Incidentally, the first NUMBER 1 disco song of memory -- it simply destroyed the charts once it had caught on -- air time in several major and secondary markets went non-stop. Indeed, it herald an emergent and insatiably FRESH DISCO SOUND: up-lifting rhythm, tolling the rumored and pending end of the VIETNAM MAYHEM, in the near offing "Rock the Boat" was heard and felt, within many. Regime change roared everywhere. Nod & winks to Patty Hearst & her mislead crew .... LMFAO!
who knows what is down the road musically. I remember lot's of people back then that could not wait for the next new thing. They did not just look back in the past like the best music had to offer was behind them. I know the next big thing is boogien our way soon. High gas prices, crooked politics, things messed up all around the world, polyester, sound like 1973 all over again.
Then the national debt was under 500 billion dollars and you could hitchhike around the country. Now the national debt is over 15 trillion dollars and you wouldn't want to hitchhike two miles. Help us, dear Jesus.
Played this every Friday when I went out.. I had a 30 minute journey to my mates house to pick him up... this was the track that got me in the mood and by the time I picked him up I was boosted!
Could not agree more Theicestorm. Today's music is just can noise. Wish they could produce music like the yesteryears. I was a dj then and it was the best time of my life just to entertain and see people enjoying themselves to the music.
Beautiful and enjoyable MEMORIES DON'T LEAVE OR CHANGE LIKE PEOPLE AND FEELINGS DO / they always stay with you FLASH BACK !! Spring-Summer 1974 / SHARON YOUNG / MY FUN,CHEERFUL,ENJOYABLE,LOVELY,andSWEET 'country girl' from Georgia / Where Are You ??!! My Memories Are Forever
'I'd like to know where you got that nose from'. A cruel taunt circa 1974. Seriously though this is an epic SOUL track. Loved it then, love it now, will love it tomorrow. Timeless.
I a remenber this song I listen it in a bus when I go to visit my girlfriend and we go to a party together with her sister and a friend It was a wonderful night in 1976
Love the dude on the left. He wants to dance to this melody like Charlie Parker would pay to it, stuffing twice as many moves as expected into the space.
@Theicestorm10 to their credit I hear a lot of today's youth wishing they'd been born earlier just to have enjoyed the music of that era. shame it doesn't seem to resonate with today's musicians
1974, what a Summer, I was young, in good health and most important ,everyone I cared about was still alive. Not to mention all the songs of that Summer that now wack me across the head with nostalgia. All you young folks in the same category as I was then.. now, enjoy it, the years fly by and you don't realize it until it happens and not a second sooner! My only regret is that I could have been nicer to those that have passed on, not that I wasn't nice at all, but I could have done better!
I took my first cruise when this song came out. It was played over and over again and I love andremember the excitement of t all. In my early teens and in love with the world!
A great song for dancing. It brings me back over 35 years. I was sold on sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I thank Jesus that He saved me and now I'm in His boat.
@QuaziGNRLNose What seems to have happened is the strong link to Gospel and Blues has been severed.
'Hues Corporation 'were so strongly Gospel influenced..just listen to their gorgeous version of "Freedom For The Stallion" (one of the finest songs ever done) All real talent's been replaced by electronic "noise" , autotune and "sampling". Nothing new, it's been heading that way since the 1990s. Very sad though.
@QuaziGNRLNose Stupid commercial sell out Rap music has been jammed down our throats for so long the young generation of Black people don't know anything else EXCEPT Rap crap now. This music is hard to make, rap is like a big mac burger, same ever time so its easy to formulate.

@keirfree Angry Brits in search of reasons to deny Yankee culture is a cliche. Get off your cross. It's a bore.
Though the origin of the word is French, the concept of "disco" is that of a soul based dance music in 2/2 time. The first article about disco appeared in a Rolling Stone article in '73 by Vince Aletti. Disco's geographic origin is credited to the clubs of NYC and Philadelphia in the early 70s. i liked this song because it was my "action" song in my better days... i was a scuba diver and had several dives "above the water" to this tune.... :D,naturaly on my vessel...:) and really don't care if it's about a slave trade boat or tumultuos relationship...

I haven't read the posts related to a slave ship but I sure know the expression rocking the boat. Whether to rock a boat or not is often an important issue for people to solve and what does it matter where you discuss it?

i liked this song because it was my "action" song in my better days... i was a scuba diver and had several dives "above the water" to this tune.... :D,naturaly on my vessel...:) and really don't care if it's about a slave trade boat or tumultuos relationship...
