Forget all the gimmicks, I heard this man live.He is an excellent musician with a great voice and repertoire. If you can catch him live in Berwick, you're in for a treat !!
Sorry I didn't get a name. I just called him the Berwick Busker here as that is where I saw him (twice). He said he was from around Stockton or Middlesborough or somewhere in that region.
hello i used to live near berwick place called burnmouth now living in the midlands as far as bk as i can remember iv never known a busker in berwick specialy a 1 man band very good give him no1 for that brianbell from the west midlands
Man, I love the old school buskers, I have so much respect for them.
I do some busking myself and I find that the sad truth is that it doesn't matter how good you are or how bad you are....if it's a friday and the sun is shining, you'll most likely do well. IF you're a musican and you want recognition, busking is no good for you. But 'mrsweettater' is right: never corner them because some one will give you a piece of their mind...and hey, why not? I hate shops that have a cd playing outside.
they're free to walk away, which is why I never try to play to a "captive" audience like at a bus stop or an outdoor dinner or someplace like that. If ya trap people, you're going to piss some off. If ya look at it as a "public service", the public will reward you for it. But an attitude just pisses them off, as it should.
I've met this dude in scunthorpe i was working and he played the same song all day, i gave him a quid to change and he stll played the same song, kick ass dude though
I played the streets for 4 years, 99% never clap, 99% ignorant idiots on their way to the grave...just look at the faces of the people passing you by. Anyway, never would share their life, not for all the money!
I've played in the streets for 25 years and I don't expect people to clap. I'm there to lift them up with a tune, a smile and a "good day". They usually smile and many tip but they all feel a little better. That's my job and it's what I live for.
Well done mate, you remind me so much of Don Partridge of 'Rosie' fame in the 60s. I met him a few times and he gave me one of his drums (well sold it too me should i say) Keep it up, i think busking takes the aggression off the streets.
Hi bennicoke. I've wondered about that as well. I think this guy is as good as the best. So why isn't he on TV, and being driven about in a stretch limo?? Who knows. Perhaps he is wise enough not to want fame and wealth. Perhaps he just hasn't tried to make it happen. Perhaps he just likes to sing and is not a born entertainer. And then of course, talent is not even a requirement when it comes to having a hit (IMHO).
the way this guy performs all those instruments in the middle of the street it´s so admirable...plus carrying that bass drum on your back all day long is a pretty bald attitude...good luck buddie...best wishes and great voice
how are you doing, i'm buddy one man band, i usaully work in manchester and and around that area, lived abroad for a long time.mainly japan,i like your video and your style, look after your back, all the best maybe are paths will cross
I Agree Meganova...We live just outside of Newcastle, and we've been to Berwick 4 or 5 times..in fact I've been going there since about 1972....and it's lovely, a world away from our grey terraced streets ..a big up to the Pilot Inn....The Meadow House...The Angel Inn @ Tweedmouth and the Gull's Nest in Burnmouth...and congrats to Berwick Rangers on their promotion....brilliant..we'll be back to Berwick again one day!

So what is the name of the song he's singing?
I have always thought the Quarry Men version of Maggie May was perfect for a one man band.
