i have a 94 v6 camaro and i want to get a northstar v8 for it, either 1 from a 98 deville or a 2001 seville. could i still use the v6 transmission? and wut computers do i need and how long of a drive shaft? basically im asken wut do i need so i can put that northstar in my camaro

it looks ok...but that V8 is not very practical in a front drive sedan like that...esp the troublesome...oil burning northstar's...doesn't sound like a lux car does it....loud exhaust rumble..sounds like it belongs in a truck IMO..I dunno

@Mrjmoyer78 Your right about that, I wonder why Buick ,Pontiac and Cadillac uses/used Northstars in their big luxury cars there pretty loud. The Northstar is suppst to be a "High Performance engine" that has to be run hard to prevent oil consumption and carbon build up. It doesn't really make since to me why a motor like that was planted in a luxury car...If I spend $50,000 on luxo car I don't expect to hear much engine noise & have to drive like its a sports car IMO.

It's ironic to put that engine in cars that are drive by people that don't really drive fast (ie: older people) referring to Buick and Caddy...the V8 in my Jeep Grand Cherokee is quieter and smoother...LOL...maybe that's one reason why the "old" GM had such issues....I don't know

i dont know much about automatics, but how come it has 1,2,3 on the gearstick? i though you just put it in gear and it did all the work itself?

@baxter4130 1,2,3 just lets the car shift using the first 3 gear ratios.

1= using 1st gear only

2= uses 1st and 2nd gears

3= uses 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears only.

I think they are used for climbing really steep hills

Four ports on fenders seem symbolize 4 exhausts on each cylinder bank. However, the engine itself is transversely mounted, so it doesn't make any sense :) I can't think of any transverse V8s other than those by Cadillac. Even more rare and odd are transverse inline 6 engines. Volvo is the only manufacturer I can think of that has made such configuration possible. Straight 6es are too long for many cars even if fitted longitudinally.

i like buicks, but was never a huge fan of the lucernes. they were suppose to replace the park avenue. id take a park ave over the lucerne anyday. sucks how buick downsized the car and made it more imported car lookiing lol (if that made any sense)

2005 buick parka venue ultra is my fav modern car, but the new 2011 regal looks pretty bad ass to.

to sum it up, the lucern sucks :p
