Not bad. Obviously (as any of my subscribers will know) I know a fair bit about Scottish TV. There are a few innacurracies and also a misunderstanding of some of the seasonal idents of the 1990's. Anyway an enjoyable enough watch.

its a DAM disgrece you think you can get alway having two companies in to one? why then not have, Better still have more time? Maybe the version GTV never had many new idents was the fact of its invison, but of course you just ASSUME.

MORE crap, maybe try look up some fact!
Sky Scottish was 4 YEARS before this, and were very poupler in some European states. S2, will ITV actully paid STV ALOT Of money because ITV forgot to speak to stv about the brand.
Where are the Cele idiets? at least STV mad the effort to have local tv people in them, There made on for both GTV and STV,
Maybe it because you don;t care about this area and just did a shot gun marrdge, there is PLENTY of stuff to have TWO show GTV 1977 if you LOOK!
Great stuff (interesting to note the Scottish/Grampian attempts at ITV1's non-entity idents was kept out, though I suppose that was for timing purposes).
I can't be sure as to what may have became of Grampian had it remained wholly-owned. Some locals remain pretty bullish that GTV could have survived well on its own post '93 but I reckon that's more a result of mere anger at losing most of the local output beyond anything else.
But I do dread what may happen to what's left of STV North.
What was worse about the "Celebrity" Ident was that while ITV1 and UTV dumped theirs within a year, we at STV land were stuck with those naff idents FOR 3 AND A HALF YEARS!!
BTW Applemask, The programs STV drop are not replaced by Taggart repeats instead we get glorified tourism videos like Made in Scotland and Scotland Revealed as well as crappy imports from RTE!
Wot no Take the Highroad? Or Jim Delahunt? On the abolition of Grampian issue, the problem with Grampian always was that it was threaded together from the bits that didn't fit into Scottish, which was very much the central belt station.
Wanted to mention the shows, but didn't have time. Especially Take the High Road, probably the best of the ITV soap operas I always used to see after Children's ITV was finished and I found boring and incomprehensible. Alongside Sons and Daughters and Families (which no-one remembers even though Kay Mellor made it and Russell T Davies started out on it).
Loved this like I loved all the others Applemask, and I respect you for not making a cheap TARDIS joke over their blue box fixation.
I would also like to add an enthusiastic "yes, please!" to your apocrypha episode as well. I can never get tired of hearing about UK television idents.
I enjoyed that. Not sure exactly why I'm so interested in idents - maybe it's the way they capture a moment in another time and place, or maybe it's sheer nostalgia in this case.
My art teacher once played a rapist in Taggart. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
I miss Scottish
I miss the thistle, Scotland's answer to the apple logo!
And yes I miss Grampian too!
STV is just not the same, it's basically ITV1 in a kilt minus the dramas.

Another triumph, sir.
Quite a surprising amount of stuff in there as well, without having to resort to cliched comments about Taggart and Take the High Road.
Can't wait for London...

Was Families the one where half the programme was in the UK and the other half in Australia?
Kevo00 2 years ago
That's the one, yes. Hence the title being shown twice, right-side up and then upside down. Never understood that before.

Grampian should have been kept seperate unless SMG merged both idents together and branded as STV Scotland and t'other asSMG Grampian.
Exelent videos. How about London and GMTV.

I considered the TARDIS reference, but an opening never came.

I really hope you do make those other episodes! These are fantastic, especially with your dry wit!

'Scotland forever' is just a cover version of Scotland the Brave with different lyrics.
