Thanks boo. I've been thinking about you. How are you? I pop in from time to time but sometimes I just watch a little something and move on. You know how it is on YT.
This one sounds funny right here! What do they call that,,is it Calyso or something? A little bit of Rap,Jazz,and Islander music rolled into one! The music reminded me of the Brand New Heavies.
Exactly! Rock, Calypso, Rap, Reggaeton. All rolled into one...the essence of the ecclectic Music scene in New York City and the personalites and styles of the individuals in attendance. Totally spontaneous.
My Father studied Flamenco guitar in Espana. And later classical and currently jazz. He is my teacher.
::::::
He's been after me for years to study. He keeps threatening me that he's gonna "shuffle off this mortal coil" one day and doesn't want to take his knowledge with him...the old guilt trip. I finally caved. But I actually like it.
:::::
Playing piano is a totally different story. Nobody had to twist my arm. I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it!!!
I don't know how to classify it. It is totally spontaneous. The drummer started playing a beat, then the bass player put his own feeling into it, then the guitar...
A lot of music is created this way. Especially now with drum machines and synths.
For musicians, it's a lot of fun. It's how we get to know each other.
that seems a cool spontaneous jam!

Is that scat-singing, like Ella Fitzgerald?
ComicsAroundTheBay 4 years ago
Sort of. She's one of my earliest influences. Ella was phenominal...and such a sweetheart.

Me and the guys were just hanging out, trying to squeeze our individuality into the mix. Ya just never know what will come of it. 'Twas fun.

Can you give me some singing pointers? I need some help. BAD! and it seems to come so naturally to you.

Oh Tonya, I really work hard at it.
::::::
Music, singing, being disciplined enough to practice, even just assembling a group for a jam session is all a big challange to me.
::::::
It's just that I love it so much and believe I was born for it. So... I keep trying.

I like those dots btwn the paragraphs... Imma have to start doing that...
::::
But on another note LOL. Thank you for the advice...You never did say where you were having your guitar lessons
