Install iTunes on Ubuntu Linux

@maddin74 This is Ubuntu 10.04 and has gnome as oppose to Unity. You can still get the old version (recommended) but you can also install gnome-panel into your current 11.10 desktop. This will allow you to choose either upon startup.

After following this exactly (On Ubuntu 10.04) iTunes will bring up, but say that it wasn't installed properly, and another pop-up says that if I want to burn cd's I need to reinstall it. I tried reinstalling it, but it still shows up, and when I go to open it, it looks weird, and it won't let me create an account for the app store, it just closes down. Any idea what might be happening here?

What makes me have a partition for windows is the fact that I can't sync my musics and my apps to my iPod, and I hate it because I have to save the links then download the stuff on my windows to sync.

I've tried a few times to install it to my ubuntu but the interface won't work.

Mine says, everytime I open it, "itunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes." Then it will come up and looks like the page isnt loading fully. Any tips?

I tried for a while to get iTunes to work on linux, but just never got it. I'm now satisfied to use my iPod through Rhythmbox which works just as well and download mp3s from amazon or play.com

When I tried this, everything worked fine until the end of the installation (around 2:47 in the video) but then a message popped saying "The installer ecountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occured during installation. Your system has not been modified." any ideas why its saying that?

I like Ubuntu...I really do. However, I really wish Apple would create applications that would benefit Linux users, as well as Windows and Mac. I seriously doubt whether Apple realizes how much they're losing economically due the fact that more and more Windows users are switching to Ubuntu.

yeah i did the EXACT steps as u did and itunes loads up properly and everything but when i try to play a song, nothing happens. the players play symbol changes to pause (meaning its supposedly playing) and no sound is actually playing. ive tried everything that i can think of but nothing. im using the most recent version of wine with the most recent itunes version on ubuntu 11.4. @PJMAN2952 Linux does have an HP driver that works with a lot of printers. Ubuntu has this driver installed by default. Go to the Linux HP driver site and check if your printer is supported.

@nazarian3 When you plug-in via usb, linux will read as a storage device. Just navigate to the directory were the ipod stores the music.
