To reply to valeriemci1...wouldn't have thought it unusual to hear the word 'wasichu' in a Cheyenne camp...the Lakota and the Cheyenne intermingled socially on a large scale...
I heard one Lakota word used...wasicu...meaning loosely translated white man. Cheyenne speaking Lakota.now I know this movie has some things wrong...but all and all it is a good movie.
the Sand Creek Massacre was the work of a volunteer group of 3 cavalry regiment. Not soldiers, but a group of drunken cowards. In fact things got much worse in the movie!
@timebandit71 I think you have to understand what this story is about, not criticise every little mistake in the storytelling. What is the Movie about, it shows the holocaust to the "Indian" Nation. That is the general truth, never mind what a Movie can tell us in about 120 minutes.
Iversion is based on Chivington. Spotted wolf is based on Black kettle. However Black Kettle did not get killed at sand creek. He was killed a few years later at washita.

Clip 3 . 2.55 Actually Big Horn happened after Sand Creek .Slight historicle error . Candice has beautifull legs and Donald Pleasance was excellent .

Veeeery loosely based. Non-existing (until 1901) 11th Cavalry Regiment, all this happening supposedly after Litle Bighorn.
