  • ...i was nose to nose with the police line in the park with absolutely no physical contact at all,.. looked into the eyes behind the shields,... i saw some very nervous police,..and they had reason to be cause they knew their boss was lying to them. The time will come when the police will turn around and help us fight the real enemy.

  • Great to see so many Blackberries and iPhones capturing an anti-capitalist rally. lol. Here's an idea: put down the PDA's for 2 minutes and use the brain.

  • @thedeeman government funded internet stooge says what?

  • @countingdown27 lol you just said it... but you are no stooge.

  • Bish sit down while I try and get this money. Who do you think you are? Beyonce? Be seated.

  • Well maybe she can do something about the violent protesters that ruin it for the peaceful ones. Same shit happened here in Pittsburgh. A few assholes saw a moment when they could just be assholes. If it weren't for them then the peaceful protesters could protest and your police force wouldn't have to spend all that money.

  • @Nemo1181 bullshit, the money was doled out long before the "black bloc" did anything. The 10 thousand cops could have easily arrested the 70 or so "black bloc" guys... And how does a car burn for 3 hours when even fire alarms bring a fire truck in about 15 minutes.

  • @countingdown27 I'm not disagreeing with the cost. Its high and should have been much much lower. But once again if there weren't certain people "protesting" by smashing cars, breaking windows or setting police cars on fire then they wouldn't be able to justify the cost. I'm guessing if the police were truly and actively going after these "black bloc" people then I'm betting there would be lawsuits out the ass for police brutality or wrongful arrest. Their Laissez-faire approach was terrible

  • test

  • @Nemo1181 isn't it CONVENIENT that they did then? You must not be from Toronto as it is well known police DID NOT go after the "black bloc" members. In fact, they were told NOT TO go after them. Why couldn't they use those expensive water cannons or the fire dept. to put out the blaze? It was a show.

And they arrested 1100 people hours and hours later. People there was no evidence of being the vandals. People got trampled by horses, shot w/ rubber bullets...here

  • @Nemo1181 search g20inquiryDOTcom

  • This is all just sensationalist pandering. I commend the police for trying to contain the chaos surrounding the G20 summit as best as they could. Should they have released the protesters who defaced and vandalized the city too, Naomi? I hate the summit too, and I'm all for peaceful protesting, but imagine what could have happened had the police -not- been in the city (the damage cost from protesters is estimated at $500,000). You picked the wrong people to attack.

  • What is this woman's point? Does she have one? This is why you don't give people microphones-they continue to talk long past anything relevant or important to say

  • @ladysblues When you speak truth to power, when you try to enlighten people, when you try to make the world a better place like Klein does, then you can criticize. Until then you and others here are nothing but sheep on a computer. Freedom of speech, of expression are all being quashed and you are critical of those who wish to retain our democratic rights? Wow.

  • @Y1A3C9 This woman rambled on about absolutely nothing. She contributed zero towards any specific cause. The only thing that was damaged on the weekend was the illusion that your very freedom to trash the system that protects your ass will also kick it if need be. If you act like a hooligan, expect to pay the price. Polce have been very clear about what rights they will exercise. The only thing they failed to do was get the mic out of this woman's hands

  • @ladysblues All those protesters were hooligans? The reporters were "hooligans"? Those who were conducting a peaceful sit-in were hooligans? The day before the police let the real hooligans run rampant damaging buildings, vehicles, etc. but made sure they arrested and detained the non-violent, non-threatening people. Jeesus, you should really watch all the news not just the parts you want to be true. You must vote conservative.

  • some of the officers at the back looked distinctly embarrassed and uncomfortable...

  • here you can use this vuvuzela sound :)

  • I wish people like Naiomi Klein would participate in the peaceful protests more often!

  • @katnip2u Maybe Naomi would like to deal with the rioters who became violent. Perhaps next time she could predict how many will appear and who selectively the police should really protect

  • @ladysblues -- Police were more than prepared to deal with a couple of thugs with tomahawks. They let it happen, so they had reasons to do.... what they actually did.

If you were not there, please, watch "G20 Toronto - Press For Truth Video Report Part 1 of 2" and "...2/2" --The BOSSES of the officers are... manipulative (to say the VERY least). Many good officers were trapped in the same situation with the rest of us--I spoke to them!! They were given the order to let some things happen...

  • Tell it like it is, Naomi!

  • the Toronto police is disgusting.

  • Thanks for posting this so quick!
