Looks like good ole Burlingame is going down hill. No More Towels. No more corner smoke shop. No night life to speak of. No fast food joints are allowed. Boring Game is more like it folks. Unless you consider waiting a half an hour for an over priced breakfast. Wow. Real exciting stuff. Greed gone rampant.
Got to love Il Piccolo Caffe! And yes of coarse Royal Donuts Shop, their home-style potatoes are delicious! and cant forget Pick of the litter thrift store!
Burlingame, California isn't even the smallest Burlingame in the country. Check out Burlingame, Kansas to see a nice little small town (1,200 people).
Too bad Broadway is nearly impossible to get to unless you drive to it. Caltrain stopped using the station there a year or two ago. *shrug* Burlingame Ave. is alright, but the turnaround for stores there is stagering. Maybe if everything wasn't so expensive, the shops would prosper. It's a nice town, but a pricey one.
@Dreadpirate46 what its not nearly imposibble i walk there all the time to baby sit my cousin it only takes about 20 minute walk and 10 minute bike ride.
How great to see my home town on Youtube! Thanks for posting. My family lived on Ralston two blocks from "downtown" when I was born (LONG ago). Been gone 50 years but love to come back and stroll Burlingame avenue when in the bay area.
Also, what about Christie's? Those people that go to Stacks are retarded, there's no better breakfast than Christie's on the entire peninsula (minus the city, of course)
Hahaha Towle's is totally gone now. They replaced it with a Burger Joint. Oh my god and Preston's is amazing.
As a Burlingame resident up until the point where I moved to college, I must say, you notice that there's no teenagers in this video? It's because for younger people Bgame is the most boring place on the planet.
Morning Glory is the best place in the world though
burger joint taste like sh!t =[ I mean like they dont cook it right its 45% raw... its nasty.. anyways i live in burlingame and it rules because theres alot of stores, people walking around and trees, and restuarant
Burlingame is a really nice area. A little too close to San Francisco in my opinion. I prefer Menlo Park or Palo Alto for the same price, but Burlingame is supposed to have better schools than Menlo. The biggest problem with Burlingame and the Bay area in general is that it is recklessly and anoingly Democratic. It needs some political balance and thoughtful discussion. San Francisco won't be able to run on its looks anymore as long as taxes increase and desirability decreases.
I just made a judgment based on your view that the Bay Area is too democratic. I feel that it could be even more-so! Maybe we could also raise some more taxes give it to mental health services--CA has some of the worst services for the mentally ill. And still, people are driving around in Hummers...getting their fake tans....isn't there something disturbing about that?
Ha, I'm from England, I visted Burlingame a few years ago - I remember eating at Stacks.. and missing the stop on the last train from San Francisco and ending up in Red Wood City.. nice town.
Go Burlingame! We used to live there in the 70's. I met my husband there, we married at St. Paul's, lived on Edgehill Drive, just celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary. I love the shops. Is Bit of England still there?
We live near Yosemite now - no shops here! EGAD! But, we do have a lovely restaurant! YAY!
Bit of England is no longer there. It is a Mexican Bar/Resturant called Hola's which has a good atmosphere and serves very good food. Banana Republic, Gap and the Apple Store are all on Burlingame Avenue now. It is a lovely town. I went to St Paul's for nursery school in the mid seventies.

I have to agree with you on that. To an extent, Burlingame is to the Peninsula what Miami is to Florida :)
