  • Incredible and infectious! Thank you so much for sharing it!

  • Really liked this version of the song.

  • very hard for me to listen to this with an open mind because Tibbetts version is so extrordinary,. Having said that , the effortless top that Warren had remains incredible to this day, He had a habit of sticking his head inside the lead tenors dressing room, knocking out a B natural and say, is that the one you re lookin for? great throat, great singer

  • Leonard Warren's rich, glorious, outpouring sound is always a joy. However, in the matter of interpretation, there is very little dynamic variation or variety of tonal color, and the phrasing is "squadrato." I know this is a ballad, not an operatic aria, but if you listen to Fraser Gange's performance (my favorite), or those of Dawson or Tibbett, you'll hear the difference. Still, thanks much for sharing!

  • @meltzerboy

You're quite right. This is a dialect song. Tibbet adds a little bit of Cockney, a bit of rubato, and some dynamics. Warren just plods through it while waiting for his top not opportunities.

  • Great Warren uploads! Thank you, I enjoyed them all very much!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you :-))

  • It's one great upload after another, Theo. Thanks.

  • These ballads are beautiful and Warren with his exquisite voice makes them even more wonderful.
