Man, I remember when Extreme G came out. I played the hell out of that game! Then next thing you know, EG2 is coming! Don't you know how impressed I was about the attention to detail? The Level Designer added chasing UFO's while speeding down this one zany track. I actually try to slow down to see the graphics. They were soooo damn good. OMG! Plus the sound effects were twitterific! / Maskedbishop. Loved the way the tires sound on the road when idling or just crusing.

I found that the Boomsta seems to have the highest top speed of them all, even higher than all three super bikes (and the glitched Zeo Max). On Skyline Drop I can get the speed as high as the 920s without even touching the nitro button, and assuming a rolling start. I can't do this with the Venom (890s), Wasp (820s), or Spectre (860s-70s), or Zeo Max (860s).

I like how in XG2 you can actually see the cloud of compressed air/steam/vapor that comes off the bike after breaking the sound barrier (as in real life, but of course it doesn't look as good in this N64 game :P)

Favorite bike on here is the Venom. It has higher top speed than even Spectre (I tested. It's true.)

yo if you get the bike spectre and you maintain control staying off the walls, you can break the sound barrier and hold it all the way through the track. but it takes skills cuz SPECTRE is the fastest bike in the game

I use Velofire, though, and with her is is possible to break the sound barrier on wide enough turns (thanks to the way the game handles turning when you don't brake or use the "R" button.) Whats awesome about this game and well the Nintendo 64 itself is that many of the popular N64 titles had good enough graphics to be compared to the Dreamcast. The N64 was just awesome.

the actual speed of sound depends on the medium that sound is traveling through and in the case of air the elevation that you are at. that's why they wanted to be so high up when they were first testing super-sonic aircraft. but i don't doubt your calculations.....that's at sea level, right?

Well actually the speed of sound on air is 330m/s (P = 1atm) and it depends on density and temperature, and the more elevation the less density. The reason because you can hear a strong noise when you reach that speed is because of the acoustic waves compression (called Doppler Effect) after thath you can't hear your own sound :)

when you travel you emit sounds radially (in ring form), while you move the waves are compressed and more joined (in the direction of your movement) and less joined (in the back side) but if you travel as fast as sound, you reach all the waves that have been compressed in front of you and for an instant you travel inside of them (then the strong noise can be heard) but if you travel faster, your emitted waves can't reach you =)
