Something we can all agree on - Buddy was one of the best that there ever has been/will be. But in all honesty, I think Neil Peart, at the very least comes close, I personally view them as equals. No point trying to say that one is better than another when they have different styles, tastes and take a different approach.

Just to make this clear, most great drummers acknowledge Buddy Rich as a main influence. They dont say I want tatted arms and flourescent drum sets like travis barker and to learn how to play "All the Small Things" on drums. If Travis Barker could play any piece of a measure from this video, I might back down. But Travis Barker wont live the 200 years he needs to be a thousandth as talented as Buddy rich.

Buddy Rich started out about age 6 as "Traps, the Wonder Boy" (same people don't know what "traps" stands, for, either). There were possibly better technicians that BR, but nobody, NOBODY, was faster.
