You can't just "leave" a record label. You're under contract. The only way to get out of it is if you are dropped, or if the label and the artist agree to go their separate ways and are "released" from their contract. But considering their 2nd single video shoot was canceled only days before it was set to be shot, explains how things went down. They can say whatever they wanna say, it is what it is.
yeah, but contracts last for so long (usually 3 years n da music industry) and wen they all get together to renegotiate da contract an artist can jus say dey dont want to continue wit da label cuz da contract is up and nothin has been redone yet. but like courtneyyiouiis3 said, diddy didnt want them to leave. i think he liked them personally. goin nto their video shoot, jim decided bad boy wasnt da way 2 go anymore. i agree. n da 6 yrs they were there they did very lil.
I know all about the "industry" and how things work -- I'm in it myself -- I started on the business side VERY early and am in the process of doing things in the open -- I wish the guys nothing but the best, but anybody who knows Diddy knows that he don't just let people outta contracts. Even after he drops people, he keeps them in their contract which is why you usually don't hear from them (Dream, Da Band, etc) for a LONG while.

You can't just "leave" a record label. You're under contract. The only way to get out of it is if you are dropped, or if the label and the artist agree to go their separate ways and are "released" from their contract. But considering their 2nd single video shoot was canceled only days before it was set to be shot, explains how things went down. They can say whatever they wanna say, it is what it is.

yeah, but contracts last for so long (usually 3 years n da music industry) and wen they all get together to renegotiate da contract an artist can jus say dey dont want to continue wit da label cuz da contract is up and nothin has been redone yet. but like courtneyyiouiis3 said, diddy didnt want them to leave. i think he liked them personally. goin nto their video shoot, jim decided bad boy wasnt da way 2 go anymore. i agree. n da 6 yrs they were there they did very lil.

I know all about the "industry" and how things work -- I'm in it myself -- I started on the business side VERY early and am in the process of doing things in the open -- I wish the guys nothing but the best, but anybody who knows Diddy knows that he don't just let people outta contracts. Even after he drops people, he keeps them in their contract which is why you usually don't hear from them (Dream, Da Band, etc) for a LONG while.

ok. so u jus said dat wen he drops an artist he keeps them n contract for awhile. well, b5 left badboy not too long after their meetin which proves dat they decided to leave and diddy had to let them go cuz it was pretty much settled right away. like i said i think he jus liked them personally cuz he likes kids. but i agree wit jim dat badboy didnt handle them well. probly cuz they were clean cut and therefore couldnt really go mainstream (we like our sexy, corrupted music here in da u.s!)

No, he can drop them from his label and still keep them under contract to prevent them from releasing anything on another label. And it had nothing to do w/ BadBoy not knowing how to promote them, they themselves were the problem. They were too "grown and sexy" for Disney, but too young to be "grown and sexy" in mainstream. NOBODY can market that - it's an impossible market. Basically, waiting a few years would work awesome in their favor.

u say he can but da question is did he? i say dat badboy didnt know how to promote them cuz most of their success came from their Disney projects. as soon as they did their most recent album, they didnt get da exposure u'd think they'd get. they did a radio station tour which didnt work well cuz dj's didnt take them seriously. they did russ par but dat was short lived and did nothin to increase their fan base. the problem was dat their recent album was through badboy, not disney.

Their last videos dat aired on the Disney channel came wit dark lighting, giant fans, a band, make-up and sexy facial expressions. so i doubt if they were too sexy 4 Disney (their image is still not dat sexy...yet) but i agree dat their new album will probly do them justice since theyr older and can b sexy and corrupted w/o gettin backlash from parents. i believe they couldv done more projects n da 6 yrs they were wit badboy.

You're taking what I said in a totally different direction. I don't know how to explain it any other way than what would be industry technical. But as a fan, you'll believe what you want to regardless so I won't speak on the matter any further. I know how things work within the industry and though I don' know what happened with them specifically (I wasn't there) I can't say I know for 100%, but my knowledge and experience lets me know what happened and it's fine. They'll make it through.
