The main factor why she was so successful in the 90s is because it was possible to hear her voice over the radio. Nowadays, you can't even make out a word of what she's singing. And she ALWAYS adds color. On open arms(the ending part) she sounded amazing, but I feel she has lost her musical sense... I don't know... Some phrases are still mind-bogglingly-musical e.g. 2:50 - 3:00 but idk...

I HATE when she goes very low. That register is the most uncomfortable to be listened to... If there's one complaint that I have with mariah, that is she doesn't know her voice very well and even if she does, she insists on doing acrobatics. She's never concerned if the tones are coming off unbroken, connected and is a pleasing manner. Even in the studio, the first parts of her songs, her voice sounds so distended. It's painful to listen to. I hope u fans tell her this via twitter.

I love EOM. In my opinion, Mariah's best work since the early 1990's era. Hands down. The whole album has a magical vibe and show's her personality so well. It also reaches back to her early R&B root's with a modern classy Hip-Hop/Urban feel. It was also very refreshing to see her move on from the whole late 90's generic pop thing. I can only hope she makes an album like this again.....I'm so glad she is working with Jermaine again. MOAIM was just.....No. E=MC2 was alright but not as good.

@tristanwod you have some valid points. Although, the main reason EOM sold so well was because of  "We Belong Together" as well as (and the most important) the media hounding her over a "breakdown." Her split with Virgin was also a key factor. It was right time right place. Infact, Memories I think was better and a much more cohesive work.

Butterfly, late 90s as well, was deemed as her greatest work, and that was aaall rnb hip hop. TEOM is more true to actually the style she's always done, just a little bit more classy rnb like in her first 2 albums and daydream. thats just my opinion of course lol
